    Been watching your videos and I am almost opened up to retire there. Hubby and I were both born in Philippines but we have been here since 1984 so been here almost all our life. Hubby wants to retire there and says we can have a much enjoyable and easier life there in Philippines but how do you leave what you've known here especially family. Our children are all grown but we have grandkids that we are super close to. How do you leave that behind? But I do agree on what my husband says, they can always come and messenger videos are almost like you're there, but...😢😂😅 just makes me wanna tear up being away from my grandbabies. Our oldest granddaughter is 13 and our youngest grandkid is 3 by the time we plan to move in about 8 years or so they will be much older. Maybe I will have a much easier time to move then when they are fully living their own lives here by then. Our oldest granddaughter will be 21 by then so maybe I'll be more at ease then. But anyway I enjoy watching your videos and thinking about Bataan now. I was born in Olongapo and my husband from Ilocos. Will make trip to see Bataan summer of 2025 so hopefully we'll see something there. But I wanna Thank you for your videos to help with answers I have questions for. Stay Blessed and congratulations 🎉

      15 years ago I met my friends from different countries they made business back in Philippines,now I’m not saying I’m bending your futures hope,but I’ve witnessed those 5 different friends and they were at their early 50’s and mid 60’s and after 10 years they have to return to their home country as their business failed and mind you they had good wife’s that help their finances.but as my observation right now.i hope expat will stretch their retirement funds in 5years from now.if they stay in Philippines.

    Feeling a little melancholy here but thank you for sharing your family’s little adventures! I hope you guys find a way to lessen the tax bite from the sale of your home. I know Liam is mainly homeschooled, maybe the move will give him some stability and become immersed school life and let him grow up with friends and family close to his age. Enjoy the next chapter in the Philippines!

    Thats a big step. Be safe. Good idea to sell the house. Its too much hassle leaving things behind. My mistake was getting a storage locker for things I had no use for in the future. Sell it all is the best advice.

      Is it feasible to retire there with 12 million pesos? No other pension or anything for another ten years.

    • @Hapfletcher
      @Hapfletcher 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bluemm2852 impossible question to answer being not all the facts are not available
      Rent or own? To own you have to be married to a filipino citizen. That means 12 million for two.
      What area? I have no clue what your level of standard is also. Some need nice big beautiful house, some can be fine in a nepa hut. Your question really is impossible to answer. Your best bet is to come live for 3 weeks check it out for yourself..

    We checked, we cannot bring our cars it’s 85% tax on the car but other things we can take with us will not be taxed since they are not for sale and they are household goods and tools to build the house. I plan on renting a container to ship thisI may just buy the container. It was only $2500 to ship it.

    • @Marker44
      @Marker44  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I sent over a lot of my tools in balikbayan boxes. The shipping containers can get expensive I believe. Just do some checking on all the fees associated on both ends, PH and US.

    • @jackmeloff3335
      @jackmeloff3335 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry to tell you but there will be an import tax. Years ago I shipped in a 20ft container with house goods, under the same impression that it would not be taxed, ended up costing $1500 and other fees to an import company. If you don’t have an import license you can not claim your container, and if the paperwork is not perfect it will be held up till you fix the issue. I found out the hard way that you can not do anything here without involving a local authority in some way shape or form. Good luck with your shipment, that’s why 99% of people use the Balicbiaon box system. It is a different program and easier to get stuff in.

    Congrats on making it to the Philippines, just in time for Christmas!! Wow! Chanel was able to fly in the cabin with you. How much does she weigh? Our Shi Tzu is 16 lbs. Is it cheaper to fly in the cabin instead of the dog being put in the cargo part of the plane? How did Chanel do regarding peeing and stuff?
    You need to go to the airport really early if you're in Seattle. It took us about 45 minutes to complete the E travel for my husband and I. Seattle airport required it to be done in the US. I thought we can do it in the Philippines like you guys did. We almost missed our flight. Thank God it was delayed.

    • @Marker44

    Will the dog travel in luggage or cabin. When you get to the airport they will place your dog and carriage in the luggage area by itself so get to that area asap. It should be fine.

    I am jealous but I think we will do the travel back and forth in the future. We already have a home in Angeles City and our 16-year-old daughter refuses to move back right now. But in 2 years she will be in college and my wife, and I can travel for a few months at a time. Fortunately I have enough money if we need to return at a moment's notice we could. And even while in the Philippines I can trade my stocks every week if I so desire. Good Luck hope it is everything you hope for.

    Hello Scott And Cecile ! What is the requirements when you bring your puppies to the Philippines? And how much you pay for everything ? Also did you put your puppies on your Lap when you are inside the airplane ? or inside the cargo ? And thank you and I appreceited !

    • @Marker44
      @Marker44  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We will do a detailed video about the entire process. The requirements can be found on the Philippines BAI website. We paid for a USDA health certificate, a couple of vaccinations, and deworming. About $400 all together. Entry fee in Philippines upon arrival is just a few dollars and her ticket for the two flights totaled $300. She had to stay in her crate the whole time. She snuck out for a few minutes. The crate has to remain on the floor with dog inside. Chanel slept most all of the time. She could not go in the cargo area because she is a snub nose dog, not allowed.

    • @Marker44
      @Marker44  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need a Philippines import permit from BAI, a USDA health certificate, and vaccination records. The BAI website gives you all the details. She rode in the cabin. She was under the weight limit.

    If you will live a very comfortable life with at least 3.5k a month in budget per month. You will succeed. I would never leave the comfort of America to level down on living conditions. Yes 3.5k a month. Not 1k like so called experts claim.
    The food in the PI is not great, maybe not good at all. Entertainment is needed to keep healthy mind and be shocked in needed items prices in the PI.

    the money coming from a sell of a real estate SHOULD ALSO GO BACK TO REAL ESTATE - I STRONG SUGGEST buy a small farm( WITH WATER SOURCE) first and start planting PRODUCE FOOD THAT YOU CAN SELL in metro manila .. you can make income while you are living in philippine, you just need to figure out what product you want to PRODUCE....!!! Learn the skills to produce it economically and watch Agribusiness n learn more skills thru different govt agencies. GOOD LUCK am also retiring in philippines in a few years

    • @Marker44
      @Marker44  หลายเดือนก่อน

      We do bank to bank wire transfers. We then can use our Philippines bank card at the stores. Sometimes we send ourselves cash for pickup at a remittance center like Cebuana. We also sometimes use our Capital One card here and pay the balance monthly.

    • @Marker44
      @Marker44  หลายเดือนก่อน

      We didnt want to let our house decline from being a rental property or deal with the headache of any problems that would most likely arise. We thought it was best for us to just sell it and move on.

  • @jetd9716
    @jetd9716 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Finally you made the move, congrats! We sold our house 2 yrs ago in AZ within 24hrs online (LOL). Basically, it was the best time to maximize the return on it. I would not set on your property on its own for a year, it would just rot while you pay mortgage on it, best to get rid of it, it's just an asset the way I looked at it. Will probably be back there in the US though ones my two daughters finish their college they will be working there, 2nd yr now. Good luck on your new life here in PH.
