Glad you made it safe. I would really like to know the ins and outs of the whole pet travel when you get a chance. No hurry. Congratulations on finally getting there and everybody's safe. Enjoy!!!!
Ha! Back in the 80's I was stationed at Clark AB. Some friends and I got a rental car. It was an old beater. We went to Baguio and broke down in the middle of nowhere. The starter went out. We found a little shop nearby and the mechanic spent 2 hours hand respooling the copper core. We gave him 5 bucks and it worked like a charm.
Welcome back to the Philippines, to your new life. I retired 5 years ago to the Philippines even though I have been coming to the Philippines since 2007 and it took me a year to really adjust comfortably. Being married to a Filipina sure helps with the transition to the Philippines. Happy for you and your family.
Congrats to the whole family! You made it😊 I'm so happy for you guys. I have a house in Dinalupihan Bataan, my sister takes care of the house. Although I've been retired for 2 yrs, the most time i spent there was 3 mos. I'm afraid to get sick there. My adult kids still live with me here in NY. I can't leave my special child even though she's already adult. So Scott, enjoy leaving in the Philippines with your family. Stay safe and happy. Have a blessed, healthy, and wonderful Christmas!🎄
We are glad you guys are doing very good, look forward to future videos. I'm retiring 31 December and we will be spending 4 months there starting in February. So looking forward to future videos, (visas you will need after 1 year, and great hints on enjoying life) thank you. God bless you guys
Congratulations on making it here. I’ve been following your channel for a while and have got a lot of useful information from it. I’m here for another 3 days before heading back to the states. I’m planning on going to the Bataan Death-march Memorial (just south of Balanga) on Tuesday 2Dec. I’d like to buy you and your family lunch that day if your available, as a thanks for the info you’ve shared. Rich
Rich, I appreciate the offer very much and we would love to meet you. Unfortunately we will not be available for a few more days. We are glad you are enjoying the videos and hope you have a safe trip back home. If you get a chance, the WWII museum in Balanga is an excellent stop also! Take care and enjoy your last days.
@ I certainly understand, hopefully next time I’m over, my wife and I can meet you guys. I’m now planning on stopping by the museum also tomorrow, thanks for the recommendation. Again, congratulations the you all on your arrival.
Welcome back. Great to hear all things went well. We must have criss-crossed our path in the last 5 days in familiar places like Wilcon, jollibee, waltermart while working on my odds and ends projects. Just landed LAX now on the road for 5 hr drive to Phoenix 😂
Hi Scott and Cecile. Congratulations. My Asawa and I are very excited for you. We've been watching your videos as you prepared for the move... Lots of great information. I'm a few years from retiring. My wife is from Surigao City in Northern Mindanao. We are looking forward to retiring there with our two children. I hope that we will have the opportunity to meet some day. We look forward to watching your new adventures there in the Philippines. Appreciate all the good information. God bless you all. God bless America and God bless the Philippines. We wish you all the best.
I'm also glad that Chanel made it too. I'm a dog lover too and treat them a family member too. Kudos to you guys on taking care of chanel and give her the best life possible!🎉😊❤
Hey Scott, long time no comments from me. I'm glad you guys made it to your new country home. Wow, time has flown by since I first found you on TH-cam. I never located those Legos yet. Sorry about that. Hey in your video, look at the time 9:54. Look up above the AC unit behind you. Is that a gecko? Not sure you knew you had a squatter in your house. I never made it to the Philippines. As I never will it seems. But it was great to watch all of your videos along the way. I'll keep on watching. Say hello to everyone for me. Take Care. Mike
Maybe a stuck thermostat? Btw if/when you have a layover at Inchon, I would think it is better to connect to Clark if ticketing allows it. Manila can be a hassle so if you can avoid it, it can make for a better trip!
Welcome back to Bataan.. With your car cap issue, don't be surprised. Seems like the philippine climate takes it toll on rubber and plastic over a short time. I have had a lot of issues with plastic coming apart. I'm sure you will have work on your house. If you need anything contact me. I have a lot of tools. Welders and power saws. No need to spend a lot of money on things your only going use a few time... Dinaluphain here. Or meet up for a lunch..
thank you, I appreciate that. Yes thing tend to deteriorate quickly here in the Philippines. We should be able to keep up much better maintenance on the car now that we are here.
Good to see you all are happy where you want to be. When you traveled through Korea, how long of a layover is needed when that is a stop on the way? Thanks
would like to hear more about your home there and what the cost of building or buying it was and what city you’re in since you’re not in Manila proper we have been used to being in cubao and the outlying area when we visit there
@ thanks for your quick response now that you mention it I think I saw one of the videos several months ago. I’ll go back through them tomorrow. God bless you guys and make sure that he keeps his hands over your family happy Thanksgiving and Christmas.
How much did it cost to bring your dog here? What service did you use? Hps to get a car cover for long storage times and disconnect that negative batt line so to avoid battery discharge.
Thanks for the video! You mind if i ask how old you are. Anywhere close to getting Social Security. Just curious your plans. Sorry to be nosy. Take care and good luck!
Hi Scott, we've been looking at moving to the Philippines, but were unable to leave Canada as we were caring for an elderly parent. Sadly she passed recently, so we're making preparations to leave once we have our affairs in order. We've looked into many places in the Philippines and think a good starting point would be a medium sized city, perhaps one of the Megaworld developments, which may provide a smoother transition for us. What's your opinion on starting out in a Megaworld? Where do you think could be a good starting point for two middle aged expats from Canada with an 8 year old? One concern is that we've found little information on the school system there. Here in Canada our son is attending a public Catholic Elementary School. As a predominantly Catholic country, is religion taught in the public schools system? In your opinion, is is better to have our son attend a public school or a private school? Do you know what is the average cost of private elementary schools? Is it more in some cities than others? Thanks, S
I really don't have any experience with the school system here yet. Liam will finish this year with homeschool and then we will be looking into private school. The costs that I've seen near us run around $1000 per school year. We live in a medium sized city and there are several things that I like about it. The traffic is not so bad, we have everything we need here or within a one hour drive. We have great shopping and restaurants available here and my wife grew up here so that's an added benefit for us.
Thanks very much! $1000 per year is less than I was expecting. We never looked at Bataan but I pulled up some videos and it looks very nice there. Maybe we'll consider there as an option.
Hey Scott, Congratulation's !!! You will fall in love with living here i'm sure. It goes without saying, it is a "brave" decision to make such a profound change in life. There's an old syaing, "You have 2 lives and the second one starts when you realize you only have one"... Of course, there are adjustments and modifications you will need to make, albeit, minor to what this precious country has to offer. I left the "Shithole"/ "Hellhole" / "Loveless" State called California over 2 years ago, and feel like I hit the Lottery being able to escape that Godforsaken place... What a dismal, gloomy, joyless, hopeless place this has become... Moving from that vile State, I find living here in Cebu akin to James Hilton's "Lost Horizon" utopia "Shangri - La... Now I have the perspective of just how bad it is over there, it's worse than I thought…
Congratulations... I am from Seattle and would really like to retired back to the Philippines...like to buy a house, any suggestions? Also would like to know about medical insurance
We are in Balanga Bataan. House and lot prices have gone up considerably since we bought in 2019. Not really sure what the average is now. Facebook marketplace is a good place to look.
Now that you have finally made the move, I hope yours wont be the typical "expat" channel, turning into constant complaining, yacking and ranting about everything and anything about the Philippines. Welcome and enjoy the islands.
“No matter where you go, there you are”” 😊 upside and downside to Philippines just like the states.. I can live here for a third the cost and found my beautiful Filipina 🤗🤗🤗
Why are they worried about your dog when they got millions of dogs running around their unvaccinated some rabid everything else , Makes no since, should clean up their own back yard first.
Glad you made it safe. I would really like to know the ins and outs of the whole pet travel when you get a chance. No hurry. Congratulations on finally getting there and everybody's safe. Enjoy!!!!
Sure, we plan to go into detail on that soon. Thank you very much, we are happy to be here.

You’re absolutely right and that was the plan. When traveling with a pet there are only two entry points allowed, Manila and Cebu. We had no choice.
Welcome home! We have been here in Mindanao since Nov 8.
Thank you!
Congrats and welcome to the club ! If you ever get up north in Ilocos Sur , get in touch with us

How does it feel to know you have gotten out of everything you owned, pretty much, back in the States, and now you have your new forever home?
It feels a little like we are on vacation but it's nice to know we are here to stay.
If the broom was not proof that you are in the Philippines, then the neighbor was who hides behind your curtain. But I spotted him at 9:59 😅😆
would like to hear more about your home there and what the cost of building or buying it was and what city you’re in since you’re not in Manila proper we have been used to being in cubao and the outlying area when we visit there
Thank you for your interest. We do have several videos out there about the home purchase etc.. We are in Balanga, Bataan.
@ thanks for your quick response now that you mention it I think I saw one of the videos several months ago. I’ll go back through them tomorrow. God bless you guys and make sure that he keeps his hands over your family happy Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It was about $450 altogether for vaccines, check up, and health certificate. We did the process ourselves and it’s was not easy.
Congratulations
thank you!
I'm jealous. 7 more years before I retire and go back to Philippines!
Congratulations 🎉❤😂

Yes we are here to stay.
Congratulations... I am from Seattle and would really like to retired back to the Philippines...like to buy a house, any suggestions?
Visit some different parts of the Philippines before deciding what areas you would like to buy in. Also, don't be afraid to negotiate.
