      Kenya is definitely one of the countries I cannot wait to see. What vehicle would you choose or do you have?

      That's a dream vehicle for that. Doesn't get any better in my opinion. Will you make videos of the build? Would love to see that.

    How is this setup working for you in a hot and humid climate like equatorial Africa? I'm thinking a lot about the pros and cons of tents/pop up roofs vs. closed spaces. Your setup looks very cozy and I imagine it can feel very safe. I like the overall setup a lot!

      That's a good question. Generally I would say, that it is pretty good. Right now it's the rainy season where I am at. The humidity would be high in any type of setup. What I would have an eye on is the size and type of the windows, especially in the roof. The bigger, the better. If you can open it when it's raining heavily it's even better. I would not go with a tent or a soft sided pop up. The rain and the wind can be heavy and therefore super loud. And as you mentioned, it feels safe. If there are unanswered questions, feel free to reach out any time. ✌🏼

      Absolutely! That reminds me of something very interesting maybe. The creator of this car spent a lot of time developing this car. It all started very small with the base car and a roof top tent on the pickup bed. It wasn't created from scratch but rather with experience. Very often we lack that patience ending up changing so many things, rather than starting small and growing with our needs for the journey. Of course that's not always possible and that's why I bought it rather than build. Next time I know what I like and can create something tailored.
      I never put it on a scale but I guess it weighs around 2.5t fully loaded. :)

      I don't know if a link works, that's the nerdy history of my Hilux. Maybe it's useful to some people. :)

      @@roadlessroaming how you go about designing something to scale in Fusion 360 that can be fabricated by a sheet metal shop. I suspect many people building rigs would like to have things like custom brackets made.

      It's actually pretty simple. I haven't done any of this before and I had to learn it for the car. Usually, it's just about precise measuring. If it's more complicated and can't be measured easily, I take a picture from as far away as possible (for little distortion and perspective warps), use it as an imprint for the first steps in Fusion. The 3D printed interior light in the car is done that way. Works perfectly.

    How many years did you work on it before you dared to go on this tour?

    • @roadlessroaming
      @roadlessroaming  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, overall I didn't do too much on it. But even those few things, considering planning, learning how to do things like wiring, ordering parts, testing and changing stuff, I was working on the car for 2 years roughly. That includes things I didn't mention like rebuilding the front axle, planning and ordering a handmade radiator for the engine and many more little things. And everything while working of course.
      It's always possible to find more and do more to prepare. But in the end it's still not perfect.

    • @roadlessroaming

      No unfortunately not. But they are easily designed in any 3D program. And then order them from pcbway or similar. (not sponsored, just lacking other examples)
