    To the person in the first story: you can’t say the n slur unless you are black
    You can say the f slur unless you are gay
    You can’t say the t slur unless you are trans, the reason is that these are derogatory terms that are STILL used to belittle and degrade these people. The best way I can put it is, unless if you have that darkness you can’t joke about that darkness. This is true for even certain jokes and things like SH, SA, racism, sexism, and more.

    I love how they always stay quiet about veterans during April and May, but suddenly become activists during June lmao. They don’t care, if they truly did, they wouldn’t support setting off fireworks on July 4th cause it can trigger their PTSD. If they did care they would make special events to celebrate and be thankful for our veterans. If they did care they would help reduce the amount of veterans homeless on our streets and help fund for their therapy. But they don’t care. As a queer woman who lost a great grandfather to the Vietnamese war and as someone with an older brother in the army, I despise how these people use the pain of veterans and their families only to belittle the queer community.

For example, the N word describes African Americans in a rude (edit: as someone pointed out in the replies, it’s more than rude, it’s “racist and bigoted”) way. It can be funny in certain situations (I admit to using these terms on certain occasions), but overall these terms (especially "breeders") can and have been used against other lgbtq+ people (bisexuals, pansexuals, demisexuals, trans people, etc.) as insults when they are romantically or sexually involved with the opposite gender or in "straight-passing" relationships who decide that they want to be parents and have children biologically. That is not okay at all. @@staninsertkpopgroup1181 that's not her fault. She can't choose to be educated by those around her. She could go off and do research, like I did, but I came from a neutral home, which I'm betting she didn't. If Fredric very politely, and in a public place, tried to educate her about a few simple things, I'd have no beef. But instead, he, a whole adult, with a big audience, privately messaged her (pretty aggressively I should add), and then wondered why she wasn't responding well. I wouldn't respond well either. He then went off and posted it all to his big audience without asking permission first. He didn't offer constructive criticism; he essentially bullied a child, and knew perfectly well that the people watching the video couldn't be trusted to avoid doing the same thing. I'm not making excuses for her behavior, I'm saying that Fredric, who should know what he's doing, really poorly went about the situation. I don't want to sheild her, I want to educate her in a way that doesn't start with an insult. This wasn't 'education'. This was harrassment. But I can't support this. It makes me feel gross and every instinct is telling me it's wrong. Even if this works out for the better, there were still other ways to go about it. If she matures as I said, if the indoctrination doesn't run too deep, she'll cone to the right conclusion anyway. I might be wrong, I might be completely incorrect. This is just a feeling I have.

I'm not out yet but just knowing that my parents would stop loving me like they do now and certain people would stop talking to me is just so emotionally taxing. We(at least I)never wanted Pride Month to be this big, dramatic celebration. I just wanted it to be a way for me to appreciate myself and my sexuality. If you really cared about veterans you'd spread awareness, not sit on your butt and insult queer people. I'll admit, a good portion of our community sucks and are idiots, but every community has bad parts that shouldn't represent the community as a whole. Not all straight people are homophobic, for example. Please educate yourself before coming after us. Also, don't use racial slurs. Burrito is not the same as a slur. For example, we all know how amazing and important of a poet Tupac Shakur is, but when you only go over his poems in a class centered on poetry as a part of black history month, I think that just proves how much we need it. Tupac is just one of many different examples I could talk about though. We need black history month because without it, our culture will never be taught. But I guess that's just my experience living in the middle of nowhere in Kansas.

    Ok a little storytime.
    I commented something once and a person just replied saying "you're gay"
    Me being the curious human I am, asked them what they meant and said "what if I'm not".
    After like few hours, that person replied "then you're mom gay"
    I, again replied "what if SHE'S not and why are caring about my family that much"
    That person had the audacity to say "I'm bored"
    I said "Just because YOU'RE bored doesnt mean that it's ok to assume someone's sexuality"
    And til now, that person hasn't responded. I'm 13 but like I feel like ik so much better than grown ass adults. Idk my sexuality, dont even care tbh. People can just be unknowingly disrespectful. Think twice before saying something, you can't take your words back

    What makes me feel bad is the homophobia within the gay community.
    feminine members of the community are often criticized and discriminated by the masculine ones.
    This is a really bad case especially here in the Philippines. They would also use the term bisexual because they don't want to be called gays(even if they are not really bisexuals nor had any relationships or been with a girl). Some people here think that being gay is always feminine. They confuse it with being discreet and being out and proud. If they see themselves dressing up in a "manly", straight-passing way, they will call themselves bisexuals, if not, you are gay.

    • @frogpog4315
      @frogpog4315 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      agreed, also if you're a lesbian and you're not masculine cishet filipinos basically just see you as straight, because filipino media often represent lesbians as hyper masculine, not saying masc lesbians aren't valid, just saying i've never seen a lesbian in a filipino film on screen that's femme and isn't hypersexualized--

    • @risaec8730
      @risaec8730 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's because of the media honestly, the stereotype here in the Philippines is that if you're gay you're automatically feminine and if you're a lesbian then you're automatically a tomboy, that's why the term tomboy is still used to refer someone who is lesbian. But honestly though, the younger generation here is more educated, so it's just mostly the old crowd that does this or 12-13 yr old edgy teens.

    alright, here’s my constructive criticism for the first girl:
    hello! i am also around your age range (not gonna say the exact year cause i don’t wanna expose that on the internet lol) but as someone who was in a somewhat similar place as you with the arguing with people online (i still do it, i’m just more mature about it now), but was definitely more of a radical twitter stan than anything else, i am both going to educate you a little bit and give you some advice for discussions/arguing with people. if you want to just get to the constructive criticism because i noticed you’re awfully set on not listening about that, i am going to leave a space before i move to that, so you can scroll down there if you’d like.
    first off, pride month happens as a way to celebrate how far the lgbtq+ community has come, and as a way to take pride in their identity. gay marriage was only legalized 6 years ago in all of the states, and just a few years ago people were still making jokes calling things that they didn’t like ‘gay.’ now, is this a really big problem? not necessarily, and it’s great that gay marriage was legalized at all, but the fact that something a lot of kids look forward to in their earlier ages, and something that so many people consider important was only made legal for queer people less than ten years ago should tell you how little society truly accepts queer people in general. the gay jokes just reinforce the stereotype that being gay is somehow inherently bad, which again should tell you how society views queer people. straight girls (not all, but quite a few) will claim to be allies and that they love gay people, but then the moment their friend comes out to them as lesbian or sapphic in general they’ll start with the ‘that’s fine, just as long as you don’t get a crush on me.’ someone being attracted to the same gender does not automatically equate to them not being able to resist the same gender, or being attracted to literally every person of the same gender. are straight women attracted to every single man they see? i wouldn’t really know, but i would hope not. now, these are just examples of more modern micro aggressions and subtle homophobia. i really don’t like to get into more serious aspects of homophobia because it’s a very upsetting topic, but to put it simply being called a slur was the least of your problems if you were queer in, say, 1950. that sounds like an incredibly long time ago, but that was only 71 years ago. if you think still think that’s a really long time ago… i don’t quite know what to say to you, i suppose you just don’t really have much of a concept of time lol. anyway, being queer was not something that the majority of people in the united states were fond of for a lot of our history. people often erase queer historical figures, or more so they erase the fact that they were queer because they either think it’s shameful, or for some reason, in their minds, it’s something that is ‘too difficult’ to explain to students being taught history. alexander hamilton literally participated in the 18th/19th century version of sexting with his best friend john laurens. if you look up letters between john laurens and hamilton, well, there’s your proof. the paintings of jesus, where he is white and has brunette hair and a beard is, if i remember correctly, based on leonardo devinci’s gay lover. or that was just a meme. either way, it’s rather funny to me. anyway, back to the topic at hand: in so many cases, queer people are told to act ‘normal,’ or to hide the fact that they are queer, because it is viewed as shameful. that is what pride month is about, accepting and loving your queerness because of the shame that has been associated with loving the same gender for so long. i think that’s all i wanted to say on that topic, now moving on to constructive criticism for your arguments:
    i noticed that you tend to ignore frederic’s points in his arguments, which is definitely not a good strategy. if you can’t come up with a counterargument, in all honesty, i would just recommend giving up. if it’s just a bit difficult for you to come up with a counterargument, i would say you should keep trying, educate yourself more on the topic so that you can be even more successful in future arguments too. do your best to stay on topic, it’s never good to completely ignore the other person’s point in an argument because it shows them that you aren’t educated on the topic, or that you really don’t have a counterargument. you can always learn more about a topic, even if you think you know everything there is to know i can promise there’s probably more. so, my criticism is to stick to the main point, let the conversation change gradually rather than just changing it to a topic you’re more comfortable with/know more about, and remember that there is always more to learn. when you find yourself faced with new information or an argument you can’t counter, don’t feel embarrassed, you can’t be expected to know everything. but you have to learn from your mistakes too, you can’t just argue that ‘well, i didnt know that, so now can we move to something i do know about?’ no. it’s best to take it upon yourself to educate yourself rather than making it the other person’s responsibility to accommodate you.
    i think that’s all, i wish you the best :)

    Also, the thing you said about the other parts of LGBT is true. I often feel invalidated because I'm an aromatic asexual and some argue that it's not a part of the LGBT. It most definitely is. The first time I even attempted to come out, I was told that I needed to see a psychologist. My family is constantly begging me to date and said they "don't care who it is as long as it is someone of the opposite sex", which is the LAST thing I want. This is why we have pride month. It makes people aware of the struggles the LGBT faces. I've been harassed and hurt before all because I told people I don't date when they express interest in me.
