I have a New Mazda 6, been driving it for 9 months, and absolutely love it. I’ve owned , and still own, Toyotas, Hondas, and Nissans, and cannot understand how Mazda doesn’t outsell them all! Also, I like how you moved the “how to spec” portion closer to the end of the video. Great job as always.
Great early review on the new CX-50. I think Mazda has a home run here in North America with this crossover. A now legitimate competitor to Subaru without having a CVT. Thank you Mazda for keeping a real transmission in this vehicle as well as keeping the manual alive. #Savethemanuals!
Thanks for such a positive and great review Brian.........I really enjoyed it from start to finish. Very clear and precise. I was also wondering if you ever reviewed the Alfa Romeo Stelvio ? I understand it's a different price range, but if you have, how would you compare the two ? I am leaning towards the CX50 GT Turbo. Thanks again for a job well done.
Glad you enjoyed, Roger. I really wouldn't compare it to the Stelvio, which is the best and worst of Italian SUVs. There may be an episode on the channel, can't remember. This Mazda is such a good all around thing that I recommend it all the time.
Excellent review as always Brian. My next vehicle needs towing capacity for a trailer and possibly a couple of motorbikes. It would be great to see a comparison of different turbo 4's with towing capabilities.
Great review and really cool vehicle!!! I would prob opt for a lower trim with the 17” wheels as those would better take on dirt and gravel logging trails I go on! Mazda makes some incredible vehicles. My wife drives a 2019 CX9 and it’s fantastic
MOST of my driving will be country roads and interstate- with LITTLE in town driving-- and hopefully NO offroading-- maybe some snow/ wet-icy snow in winter sometimes.. so I'm trying to decide between THIS and the CX-30 , which you said was your FAVORITE- but never got to check it in snow. Sara-N-Tuned did both and loved them both-- so that never helped me decide that much- (other than enjoying watching her do it!! ) .. WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE under my conditions? OH- and i'm single- no kids- and no family to haul around- etc.. MAY possibly teach CANE DO in town (30+ miles away) later meaning driving back and forth-- all seasons here in the hills of VIRGINIA.)
As soon as I get a chance I’ll go test drive one and see how I like it , if I like it more than my AWD turbo carbon cx5 There is a high possibility I’ll swap rides
Cx50 is what the Audi Allroad could have been, but not quite there. This thing has potential to be a rally crossover. If they make a sport option available that has high end independent suspension, 300+ hp, and clean up the rear, specifically the tail lights and fake grills. The front looks perfect. There are not too many offroad SUV's left even if they claim they're offroad, besides Bronco and 4runner, and there's a reason they're flying off the shelves.
When you first said this CUV has a 6-speed auto, I could've sworn you made a mistake. And then you brought it up again in a much more deliberately-written/spoken sentence. Good move for your benefit, and good on Mazda for bucking an understandable-yet-pointless practice. And... I gotta admit: the CX-50 looks really, really nice inside and out.
@@pdg61met I'm referring to you mentioning that the interior is "plain". You mentioning ambient lighting indicates you would also like LCD's everywhere.
@@levthelion I’m referring to you using the word screens. Nobody said anything about screens everywhere. Nice subtle ambient lighting sets the mood adds a bit of elegance.

Thanks! Mazda brings a better game to every segment they play in. Generally better dynamics and aesthetics put them at the top of my recommended list.
I think you're the only reviewer that didn't whine about not having more gears. I have a CX-5, and I think it's a really good 6 speed transmission.
Wild. There's zero reason to complain about it, particularly with the turbo motor.
Yep. I had a 2019 RDX that I believe had too many gears. Owned it 2.5 years and racked up 63k miles. People complain just to complain LOL!!

Thanks, Lee. I agree. It’s very premium at a great price. I did a little saving of the manuals today and went for a spin in mine!

Thanks! Great to see you guys! I'm gonna have to check out yours episode soon as I get my head out of another edit...

Thanks, Tom! The TFL Truck guys might do something like that, I’m hit or miss on towing specs. This one did fine with the 3500 lb trailer!
I gotta say I really love this design
I think it's quite attractive, they did an excellent job with this one. Not boring!

I totally agree! Might need a wee bit more ground clearance, though.
@@BrianMakse would be sweet with a 3” lift and some 32” all terrains
@@natlovell122 gotta get that turbo for those big wheels
Great review. Will be interested in hearing about the base trim driving experience.
Thanks, Paul. No NAs yet here. I’ve got a turbo booked in the coming weeks so I can spend more than a day with it!
This is an EXCELLENT review. Two questions: is the cabin quiet (say compared to CX5)? How tall are you? (Did you have enough head space?) Many thanks.
I second that…road noise and your height?
I'm 5'10" and it's got plenty of headroom, even with the panoramic sunroof. It's at least as quiet as CX-5 if not a bit more.

What mazda needs to add now is uplifter/aux switches for accessories
I'm really looking forward to the PHEV.
Is that what they're saying? All they told me was that a hybrid was coming.
@@BrianMakse If I'm recalling accurately, it might use the RAV 4 set up.
@@davidanderson-22 oh boy...I dig the RAV4 Prime drivetrain a lot, but it's still a CVT...

There is a more off road oriented model coming soon.
Id buy a turbo and swap to smaller wheels with fatter tires for more cushion
The Meridian Edition is coming with 18s and I suspect that'll have an off road oriented tire. The ride with the 20s is more than acceptable.
How tall are you?
Short, 5'10"
Cool spot to film needs life’s 4 inches
You and your 4 inches...
5:17 looks like uncle fester driving.

They do the 6 speed auto pretty much across the board. And it's good. It's also a million times better than a CVT and those don't count anyway.
The inside is nice but plain and no ambient lighting for 41000.00
The interior is peaceful.
Some of us don't want LCD screens everywhere.

I love these cars- but I HATE panoramic roofs....they're just an UNNEEDED LEAK waiting to happen..
A brand new cx-50 ok ok
All new! Similar to CX-5 and also very different.
For man or woman ?
