Hands down one of the most brilliant things I've ever heard. Did anyone hear him bust out Bach in his little cadenza at the end right before he took it to church for a sec? Absolutely breathtaking!!!

lovely song by the man himself.his journey with the great ray brown was something very special.and of course afterwards with nhop.i am 73 yrs old now i have played and listened to this wonderful music all my life and thanks to all you good people out there with utube i can get my daily dose .long may it last.many thanks..
He certainly does 'quote' the tune 'someone to watch over me' once or twice .This is a beautiful version of 'one and Only Love' as is only to be expected from Oscar- love that little quote from JS Bach at the end. This goes alongside the Art Tatum/Ben Webster version as joint favourite s for this lovely song . Thanks for posting it.Fabulous.
its good people like ennaus8 and thelsraDave that make this world tick.left to some it might not be so.oh and just to say i had the great pleasure of meeting oscar at ronnies yrs ago he sat at our table for half an hour just chatting in the interval.wonderful man.i also met my idol ray brown in a break at j.a.t.p.in my home town of leeds again a memory to cherish.many thanks for your replies.made my day.
@exjazzbassbaz 73 years old...nice overdose of music :D good people listen to Oscar, and even bad people do! If there is such division, as a friend of mine says, the world is divided in 2 kinds of people, the ones who think there are 2 kinds of people and the ones who don't. Thanks for your commentary
@thelsraDave.you are spot on my friend.ray and nhop were the best.some collaboration eh.had the great pleasure of meeting all three between 50s an 90s great memories.good luck.
People who like and listen this kind of music is 5 to 90 yrs old . Please keep one ear to Ray Brown's work : as deep as heavy . I'ld too invite you to listen this song by Ella F., Johnny Hartmann & John Coltrane, Joshua Redman ....

@SUNNYOFF1 They say everything is vibration, life and death are different sounds, the song never ends, neither do we
At 4:38 i recognize a very familliar theme. Could you tell me where it is from? It seems like the opening of a well knwn classicall piece in strings... I hope you can help... Thanks

Thanks for your words :) "make this world tick" means makes it "move"?

The two greatest bassists ever in jazz, Ray Brown and Nhop, were this man's main collaborators and that sure says something about him.
You have stated an absolute truth.
Ron Carter.
Que creatividad y que perfeccion unidas con un solo fin.

pure genius im in the process of learning this song cant get past 3rd page
Ray Brown... so tasteful underneath Oscar's playing. I think he even pulled out the arco technique to support Oscar's ending (Bach's minuet).
This guy is master
