Hey man- I love your work. My son and I are just getting started with an RM125 in Wellington. We'll be watching your videos about it over and over. Ive had a hell of a time finding an airbox - the one on our bike was smashed up. In this video were you showing some reinforcing you did to yours? the aluminium plates? Or am I reading it wrong? Also - did you get the frame powdercoated? If so - how much does that cost?
That's awesome, wish u all the best. The airbox was just like that when I bought it. Was just some alluminium plate that was used over cracks to keep it together. For the frame, it was sandblasted and powder coated. About $60 for sandblasting and $150-200 for powdercoat.
Hey bro, thanks! I dont unfortunately. There are alot of "specialty" you can buy. However you dont need them. Start with the basic tools. Then just buy tools as you need them. It gets expensive quickly. But 100% get into rebuilding bikes. Its alot of fun. Hope this helps. 🤙
How hard is it to actually rebuild a engine like that? Is there like a manual or something to help or is it mainly experience? Also how much did you put into this full build? Good shit man
I've done quite a few engines now so becomes second nature. Just do your research and take your time. TH-cam vids and online manuals r the best. Cost about 3.8k all finished.
Looking good my friend from across the water!!hahaha I just bloody scored myself my now new project i got the beast of all beast its a 2008 model but apparently known as the 2010 special order?? Well back then not many of the 2005 to 2008 were made compared to the earlier year models as there were thousands produced of earlier models and from 2005 to 2008 model or the last ever models well they only made hundreds instead of thousands like the earlier year models!!! So yeah I'm excuse my good old language but yeah I'm fuckn stoked couldnt of been a better score in my whole life time and its not hot just the old bloke never knew excattly what year model he had as he thought it was a 1997 model!!!hahaha all i know now is ive got my whole collection of 2bangers nearly completed now just have to find myself a kx125 and kx250 again did have a 2002 kx250 but putrid crackheads broken in years ago and got it and bloody never touch any other bikes only the fuckn kx250 it pissed me off and broke my heart it was a weapon so for now i have my yamaha collection have the Yz125 1999 model and the Yz250 1999 model and then we have the Honda collection well got the 3x cr250's but on hunt for the 125 so then have cr125 and cr250 and then we come across to other side of shed and the Suzuki collection u have the Rm125 2003 model and now the Rm250 2008/2010 model. And in other corner u have KTM collection have the old faithful ktm300 GS 1994 Model and then all the ktm50 pro seniors 2007/2008 models and then there's the bare Kawasaki collection corner which has the missus and eldest daugthers Kx80's. The 1st is the Kx80 1987/1989 model and then the daughters Kx80 2000 model but need my kx125 and kx250 to make myself very proud of myself and my achievement for my hard work and thousands of dollars to get it where they are now but again my friend from across the pond I'm very impressed with every build ur now done just wish a heap of $$$ drops into my lap soon to get this beast RM250 Up and cracking and pissing the neighbors off!!!hahaha again my friend congrats on awesome build champ
Ohh yer also i got the RM250 2008 MODEL for only $400 cash delivered to front door!! So yeah fuckn deadset over the moon and I've got a lot of extra left overs from the Rm125 2003 model build so have brand new parts And aftermarket parts to go on this Weapon i bloody cant wait now this shitty epidemic going on takes nearly 2months just for any parts to make it here from out of Australia ohh this fuckn sucks I really don't know how u do it brother?? U must have some real patience to wait for ur parts to be delivered i know ive just got to get baked every afternoon just to comprehend the day and whatever build I'm working on at the time!!!hahahahahaha. But yeah my friend I scored it for only $400 and the only things that I can find thats missing is the (Swingarm bolt & the front and rear axles??) And the bloody fork i dont think there the right ones I think the guy gave me the forks from 1 of his other builds?? Probably a Yz or something with KYB Front forks as i don't know if this is right but my old rm125's that had in past and now this 1 i have the rm125 2003 model has SHOWA Forks?? So I assume that they should be SHOWA Forks not KYB'S Correct?? Im just not to sure I just want to make sure that its same as ur rm's???
Hey mate, bloody good deal. I'll try and answer as many questions as I can in the novel you wrote. Haha. Pre 05 I believe had kyb. Then they changed to the showa forks. So yea. The 08 is meant to have showa. Building these bikes through the pandemic in NZ is fine. I order all my parts through work from various suppliers so availability is primo. If I need anything I just go straight from the states and will generally have it at my door. In 2 weeks max. My 08 I'm gonna do 100% perfect and get some pretty rad parts on it. Then I'm gonna add a few bikes to my collection. Vmx bike and a supermoto to start with. 🤙
Got 5k for it. This was 1 of those bikes where it just kept needing money put into to finish it properly. Win some lose some I guess. Thanks heaps for the support.

Hey bro, thanks! I dont unfortunately.

How much did you coast this build?nice vid
Cheers mate. Cost about 4k I made a video on it.
damn, great job but shows how uneconomical trying to flip bikes in NZ is! You'd struggle with margin on a $4,000 125!
Got 5k for it. This was 1 of those bikes where it just kept needing money put into to finish it properly. Win some lose some I guess. Thanks heaps for the support.
15 min lol
Nice job and you didnt put on that ugly ass restyle kit from polysport
