I would say that Leica unlike other brands are not focused on video as much or hybrid cameras, they aim appease the masses with the Q series and SL series having video functions, but they create their products with the M series in the thought process that you take photos and only photos. In the world of social media and so many different mediums at which you can share your work - Leica encourages its users to slow down and just capture the moment. I love your work and the videos you create - glad you are liking the Leica - I have an M10 and I love it! Keep up the great work!

Loved this video! Heading up to Lincoln City July actually with my Fujifilm X-Pro3. Absolutely agree that there are cameras out there that psychologically get us to take more photos without being absent from the moment. We all purchase what we can afford and for me that was the X-Pro3 and love that camera dearly.

Have a Q3 on order, but tempted to cancel the order and just buy the M11. I already have a canon R5 with a ton of glass. Something about the Leica just calls to me.
I totally get it! I guess my only question would be how often would you use the q3 for video if you have the r5?

The M series only had video in the M Typ 240 variants including the M240, Monochrom 240 and M-P 240. After what seemed like considerable user backlash, they omitted video from the M10 variants and M11. Leica seem to keep the M series as photo-only cameras, with the Q models having video so it will appeal to a general user base, and the SL series because they are pro workhorse cameras with a lot of Panasonic tech in them.

Yea I’m like the woodwork guy. I just bought the M11P, and a trio of lenses including the 28 1.4 Summilux. Had Leicas in the past, Hasselblads,Nikon and Canon… Back in the studio days… Currently, I’m just chillin… But maybe the season for something new!!!

Awesome video! Have you had any of the freezing issues that have plagued some of the m11 bodies? I’ve been thinking about an m11 but not sure due to these issues that seem to be pretty widespread. I used an m10 with the 50 f2 v5 and it really rocked! I’d probably get a voigtlander 1.2 50mm for the m11
Luckily my model has not had any issues with bricking. I heard about it prior to purchase but thankful mine doesn't. Amazing. M10 is an incredible piece of equipment as well!!!
I haven’t had any issues either. I reckon it was an early firmware. 1.6.1 seems to have fixed everything - except mine has dementia and resets to the std profile everytime. Fairly annoying, otherwise it’s been fine.
Nice photos & interesting video! I’ve never seen your channel before. Watching Leica Q3 videos must have made TH-cam recommend this channel. I’d like to own a 60mp Leica one day but have to save my money 😅. The M11 would be a dream come true but the Q3 is probably a more realistic goal.

@@Jakechamsthanks! I subbed to your channel. I’m a hobbyist photographer & I started my TH-cam channel so I could learn/improve on my cinematography. For me, Leica is like the “holy grail” dream cameras. But for now Fujifilm is the more affordable option.
I own the M11 and Sony a7rv get a Sony and save your money! I changed mine twice already because it bricked.
@@Eliehbk really??? That’s disappointing to hear 😭. I wouldn’t buy Sony, fantastic camera performance but not a rangefinder. The Fuji X100V is the most fun camera I’ve ever used so I figured a Leica M might be even better.
@@bobbyr500 I had the X100v and it is a nice camera. The Xpro4 and X100VI will be coming out this year as well. If you lust after a Leica, buy a used Q2!
I have an m6 and I’ve been considering selling it and putting the money towards an m11.
Honestly not a bad idea. It’s what I did. Seeing how there are so many other options for film now a days!

Great vid! I own a Leica MP and I can't see myself getting rid of that ever but the idea of the M11 has come to mind a few times. Have you found yourself still shooting film or are you using this camera more?

Thank you so much!!! I am happy that you liked the video. Honestly its hard to choose which i rather shoot more of, I do shoot a LOT of film for all my personal work, but I think digital is the way to go for things I want to do "more" with. I hope that helps a little?

Thanks for the nice video! You mention that you really like the colors you get, and your photos are really nice I must admit. However I’m really struggling to like the colors from my m11. I guess it’s with the white balance I have the most trouble. Do your shoot auto wb, or kelvin or grey card? Thanks again. Subscribed!
Of course thank you so much for the kind words. If I’m being honest, I feel like the m11 or most Leica for that matter pull more towards the colder tones when shooting. I’ve noticed over correcting my white balance to much warmer has helped with my end results a lot,

Hello, great video and shots. thanks for the trip. What do you think of the image quality in low light. I took some pics inside between 3’200 to 6400 iso and the noise was quite important and not so nice. Do you have an opinion ?
Hmmmm. Honestly, I havent shot much at that high of iso, have you tried the denoise feature in lightroom? the new one? its incredible.

Nice video thanks! Y mentioned that this camera would be for the rest of your life… That is the point I/m having doubts about because with an M6 that makes sense, but with a digital camera like this I think that in 5 years the tech will get old and older… In 15 years I doubt if this is still good working tech and it can keep up with what is happening in this world of photo tech, sensors, AI involvement…
I agree to a degree. Part of me feels that photography as a technology, has sort of reached a point where a single image can't get too much better on a 35mm sensor. Sure, the tech on that sensor can change and evolve. Speed of which the camera can work will get better, the capture rate, buffer rate, ect will all get btter. But as for a camera that can just be at my side, documenting my life and the slow in between moments. I don't think i need much more than what the m11 has to offer. I also have an m6 and that will forever be with me just like this camera. As far as a workhorse camera goes, i think you are 100% right. It will get better over time.

do you have any recommendations for cheaper digital cameras? im going to a media design school and i really want to get better at photography and videography but i don't know which camera to get that costs around 1000$
Hi there! Yes! Honestly, a small compact point and shoot could be great. Something like the Sony ZV-1 might be a good fit? Look up "compact digital cameras under 1000" there are a bunch of great options but I would recommend that Sony!

What would you recommend for a beginner who is wanting to learn about photography?
use your phone for awhile then get something cheap second hand like a Sony a5000/6000 or a cannon camera.

Have you tried Leica lens with Sony camera? How is it? Does it make any differences?
I actually have! Obviously the lens is what’s making the image have the feel and look it does, so it’s hard to tell the difference between what body it was shot on.
Real difference is the physical feeling and compactness of the Leica compared to the Sony.

I own tons of Sony cameras and Glass and an M11wirh several Leica Glass. But if I have to be brutally honest, the image quality coming from a Sony A1 or even an A7C 😊is far superior in detail rendition and sharpness no matter what lenses you throw at them. With my M11, and any of the Summilux or summicron 50mm Apo, my Sony glass stills outperform by far all my leica lenses. Even the budget alternative such as Tamron or Sigma. Most Leica lenses were designed to expose analog film not a digital 61MP sensor. Also the fact most Leica lenses are so small, you get tons of softness in the corners, CA and Halation (on cheaper lenses and we are talking about cheap lenses that cost a few thousands). However all these limitations are exactly what I like about shooting with Leica glass and my M11. It’s a delicatessen dish that you pay more to experience and enjoy with every bite when in reality a hotdog will satisfy your hunger. 😅

@@Jakechams trust me! me too that's why I had the Q2, now Q3 and M11. Loving them both. but Like you said for professional work where error is not an Option, Sony is where is at.

not stupid! yes, one focus patch in the range finder, not on the screen!

If you can deal with constant freezing and having to take the battery out and restarting it. You know what camera you don’t have to battery pull to reset and can use in the rain because they are weather sealed? Any Fuji, Nikon or Cannon at 1/4th the price. Google freezing M11 and M11-P before considering buying a Leica M.
@@AIP404 I’ll stick with the Fuji, Nikon and Pentax non freezing experience, in 15 years never have had a camera freeze 😂. This is gonna kill Leica if they keep producing these lemons. They are destroying brand with not dealing with these issues. What happened to recalling faulty hardware and fixing it?

NO ONE buys a LEICA For its video features, NO ONE! I wish leica would get away from VIDEO ALL TOGETHER, if i want to shoot video i would get a SONY, OR CANON! I wish they didn't include video on the Q3 and save us say like 800.00 USD.

Leica is a nice box for a Sony sensor.
rational people will spend money on Sony cameras because off all the reasons. Kings with invisible beautiful clothing will spend money on "leica perfection" ... well the lens are good tho
You must be joking... No video makes perfect sense.
It means no need to include mic ports, no need to incorporate designs to cool down the sensor/camera. No overheating issues.
Video has no place in Leica M; and frankly no one used it on their Leica M (Typ 240) or MP240.
Stick to the Q or get an SL if that's a deal-breaker for you.
