One other tip: Use the keyboard to control the camera (WASD and QE to rotate). Using the mouse is really frustrating as you have to have the pointer not touch any of the GUI around the edge of the screen.

For a guy who only play toxic competitive games such as dota, this game is a breath of fresh air. Although i hardly understood anything, i can tell you explained very well.

Your tutorial helped me a lot! Especially the "machine spirit" part, i think it nowhere explained in the game.
Now I'm pretty good at it. I also had 3 or 4 times to restart the whole game, because I unknowingly picked unsupportive skills for my skilltree goals.
One of my favorite builds is:
Range build---
Tech-Auxilium: 9 lvls
Dominus: 9 lvls
Lexmechanic: 5 lvls
=23 lvls total
Close combat build:
Same, but instead of Dominus pick Explorator. 😁👍
Also i never pick any Secutor skills because even the first skill is for troops not for tech-priests unfortunately, except when i use a Secutor (Troop support) build!

Until I watched this video I didn’t know you could get more than one servitor! I assumed because the Cohort screen only showed 1, that was the max. I wondered why the game was so difficult! LOL.

I bought this on Xbox (works great) over 2 years ago on sale. Only started playing recently, and this is a great guide still even in mid 2024! I’ll have to watch your Hard play through. One thing I have not found is an “optimal build” video for tech priests. I know we want to max out one tree, but then what? Max another, fully (and which one) or pick bits of tech from the other trees? This is what I really want to know. I’m still on my first play, I just reached 52% Awakened state. Thanks!

Back when I was browsing the forums for this game, people had a lot of different opinions on best TP builds. My overall impression after plaything through on the hardest difficulty is that unless you turn on additional challenges (no starting currency, etc), the game is "easy" enough that if you know what you're doing there's a lot of latitude for mistakes and different builds.
That said, my personal preference is to max exactly 2 trees for each of your starting Tech Priests before starting work on the 3rd. I think the melee and the healing trees are weaker than the others. I also think the unit-buffing tree is strong, but not worth being rushed. So for my two starting priests, I prefer some combination of the ranged, CP, and holy trees, with either the CP or holy tree overlapping on both priests. With my subsequent priests I branch out from there.

I got this cheap on Switch. I hope the port is alright. Obviously, it works optimally on PC, but so far, the hardware hasn't been of particular hindrance.
How do you recommend prioritizing loadouts? Should I try to always have a solid ranged and melee weapon on each tech priest, or should I specialize each priest to favor one or the other? Should I try to always have a free weapon, or at least one that doesn't cost more than 2 CP to attack with?
Personally I prefer the cheaper weapons until you get a lot of extra CP because (in my opinion) the damage doesn't scale well with the extra CP costs of firing the more expensive weapons.
I'd fully equip both tech priests and have them both be ranged and melee, unless of course you have one of them go all the way down the ranged (Dominus) track, in which case they have to go in without a melee weapon in order to get their bonuses.

Played through once but still learned some stuff here. I’m on my second play through trying to get all the troops & tech. On my first run explored everything while racking up the awakening points. Is sacrificing exploration for more missions the best approach?
That's a good question! I expect to make it to the boss with some awakening level to spare, which implies that, retroactively, I would have been better off exploring more in the early missions. But I find that the peace of mind is worth it. :)
When game says "survive 3 rounds" , where is the round count. Please help ,I must be crazy to miss. Do we have to count rounds without interface help?
Huh, I don't know! Maybe there isn't a round count. One thing I will say, though, is that whenever you have to "survive X rounds," it's kind of a lie. Once you survive that many rounds, the game just tells you to kill all the enemies. :P So you might as well play it like a normal level and just try to kill everything.
