Gag me with a spoon! While I love my 70s comics, the 80s had some awesome books too as you've shown on this video tape!

Ooh, I love 70s books too! The 80s seemed to have given way to popular franchises that are being re-worked today! It is quite something that an idea 40 years ago is coming back. Ha, I love where you wrote "video tape"! I miss the joy of starting where you left off with video tapes. Now one has to click 10 button just to get back to the spot in the video where you left off on. I think we had it better then!

That must have been an amazing experience! I love hearing about that kind of stuff- where one recalls the day the purchased, a now legendary comic, off of the spinner rack!

Thank you, Greg! I try! Lovin' the feel and look of the 80s! My goal is to chronicle comics from the 1980s! Thank you for watching as always!

Wow! You managed to cover so much stuff in those 42 minutes! Among my top 3 major milestones for me in this period was Alpha Flight (issue #1 was Marvel top seller that month) and it was my favorite series back then as long as John Byrne was doing it. Pacific's line of comics was really something special back then with high quality paper, the return of the EC=style abthologies in sci-fi (Alien Worlds) and horror (Twisted Tales), captivating new creations like the Rocketeer and Groo the Wanderer that are still admired to this day. And the very best top talents that worked at Pacific for it's sadly short history: Jack Kirby, Neal Adams, Dave Stevens, Berni Wrightson, Mike Grell, Al Williamson, and the list goes on... Finally, Frank Miller's Ronin was like nothing else in 1983, blending the japanese manga style of Goseki Kojima (Lone Wolf & Cub) and french master Moebius' weird science fiction. The experimental format, the quality of paper and printing, and the beginning of a long collaboration with colorist Lynn Varley.

Ranger Sly! Thank you for writing! Somehow my response might have been erased.. not sure. Thank you for bearing with me for 42 minutes. There was a lot going on from The Secret Wars to Ronin to TMNT, then Transformers. A lot of pop culture that we are seeing today came from the mid-1980s comic offering. Some of the PC Comics and other books hold up well to the test of time. I am fascinated with Al Williamson, Perez, Garzon, and Seinkiewicz's artwork!. Thank you for your responses as always and pardon me for the delay!

When you see this stuff, you just makes you realize how much better comic books were than then they are now I hate it sometimes but they just don’t make the books now that they did back then they didn’t worry about political correctness back then they weren’t trying to push race, swapping characters and making the white characters seem like they’re horrible people and replacing them with minority characters like Marvin did for yearsI hate what they’ve done to my beloved comic. When you see these books that makes you remember how good it used to be.

That is a very good point, Bruce! Although it is important to be sympathetic and empathetic with our fellow friends, I feel that comics were just what they were- comics! Escapism free from the politics and social situations. The world needs Saturday Morning Cartoons to restore order!
