Thank you for watching Bruce Wayne and for supporting the channel! I think that the '80s were great and every decade offers something special. I am sorry to hear about the lady friend, brother. Just be true to yourself, keep communicating, and if it is right- it's right! Saturday nights with an iced-cold beer and comics is also a great night- but that's just me!

Fabulous retrospective Leo, loved it! Couple items I completely forgot about, like the Topps movie posters, but were important too me at the time. Great stuff, great years, thanks for showing my friend!

Thank you for reminding me how cool the Star Trek and Star Wars comics were 😎 I have never seen the Movie Pin-ups before 😍 When you showed the Donkey Kong scene, for some reason my mind went to Defender 🥴 That was my favorite game back then 😊 I'm glad The E.T. scratch and sniff was pine scented 😅 Two books I probably need to add to my collection are GI Joe and Blade Runner. Great video Leo - Thank you 🫡

Star Trek (and their early covers) and Star Wars, and Blade Runner- are way past cool!! I love the sci-fi portrayals of flying through space and the action. I can look at that for hours! Thank you for watching easycomicreader! I'll probably see you in the chats on Graphic Man's channel!

graduated in 1980. Then moved to Virginia from PA. the First few years were good. One month later at move in date, a hurricane rocked our neighborhood. Dont remember which hurricane it was or what was its name. But I didn't watch the weather and was walking back home from the 7-11, with a nice thick plastic bag covering my comic books, with no umbrella. Three times the wind almost blew me off of my feet. But I got home with some nice comic books.

Cool I still have my version of that orange Donkey Kong digital game! I picked up that Supergirl vol 2 #1 off the shelf back in the day but I only recently completed the run 40 years later and have read them all now. Paul Kupperberg named one of Linda's house mates John Ostrander after one of his friends who later went on to work for DC on Suicide Squad, Spectre, Martian Manhunter and more. This was a cool nostalgia trip cheers and don't eat that gum mate! Although it might possible give you superpowers it's not worth the risk I say!

The gum might does have superpowers! The power to get a good belly ache! The 80s were a gum crazy time! I am glad that you completed you Vol. 2 Supergirl run! The art and stories were just great! Thank you for watching again Greyman!

Leo you've done it again! I love the whole concept and look forward to future episodes of this series! This was about the time I came back to comic book collecting and where my current collection all began. You managed to get a lot of my favorite things about the era. * * * Moon Knight was my favorite series at the time. I feel Doug Moench (a top writer in my book) wrote his best stories on that series. And a very young Bill Sienkiewicz was still channeling his best Neal Adams impression. But as the series progressed, Sienkiewicz would slowly develop his own unique style (exploding even more on his later New Mutants run). * * * I was buying Peter Parker Spectacular Spider-Man at the time and when Cloak & Dagger first appeared I knew this was something special. These were the coolest characters Marvel had come up with in a long time! Sadly, Marvel seem to have given up on this terrific duo and not much have been done with them since the fabulous 80's. * * * Frank Miller's Wolverine was the coolest limited series Marvel has done. It certainly confirmed Miller's superstar status. * * * Dreadstar and the birth of Marvel's Epic line was certainly a defining moment of the 80's. Epic gave creators a venue to be published while keeping the rights to their work (Marvel had no choice as the Independant boom were pulling some of the best creators toward Pacific, Eclipse, etc). I am still perplexed that the Epic line didn't produce more memorable works that stand the test of time. Dreadstar certainly tops almost everything that came out of Epic. Starlin wrote his best stories for Dreadstar, with more adult oriented stories, some very shocking (like the tragic tale of Willow), interesting plot twists, and even some welcomed humor.

Sorry for the previous very long post, but the thing is that I'm not even finished yet! Now for some glaring ommissions on the 1980-1982 period in my humble opinion. For me, the early 80's was dominated by Marvel who had the top ''hot creators'' working for them: John Byrne, Frank Miller, and Walter Simonson who all did the definitive runs on long-running series. * * * John Byrne was already a star from his X-Men days, when in july 1981 he started his celebrated run on the Fantastic Four assuming both story and pencils. * * * Frank Miller was still a relative unknown when he started his run on Daredevil (on the verge of cancellation) in 1979. Granted, this is outside of the period visited in this episode. BUT, 1981 saw him took over the writing as well as the art with issue #168. In his first issue as full creator, Miller introduced us to a female assassin named Elektra. * * * As for Walt Simonson, his seminal run on Thor only debuted in 1983, so outside the period of this video. * * * Meanwhile, at DC, by far the most important book to come out of the 1980-1982 period was New Teen Titans #1 by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. This duo bringing in the Marvel method of close collaboration between writer and artist (basically co-plotting) was a breath of fresh air for DC that had nothing really groundbreaking to propose since the Neal Adams golden years of the 60's and 70's. New Titans was single-handedly responsible for many so-called Marvel zombies (such as myself) to give DC a second look.

My time machine still has a few "bugs" in it as it was unable to retrieve the Teen Titan and Electra books. But in the next series, my machine should summon the start of Bill Sienkiewisz' Electra mini-series and some early Teen Titan as their run was established! Thank you for your details regarding the Marv Wolfman and George Perez and their history with DC! Interesting happenings!

You can never write too much here Ranger Sly as I learn so much from you and your first hand knowledge of all things comics. I am always eager and grateful to read you insights and it enables me to go back and learn more! I think that it is so special that you were there when you purchased Cloak & Dagger and were aware of Epic Comics. I have to resort to time traveling as I was quite young to read those very books at the time!

With a February cover date, She-Hulk number 1 would have come out around February 1979, thus being earlier than the US debut of the Rubik's Cube :)

Instead of all the movie adaptations I was expecting at least a partial nod to some of the black and white comics that were just begining to show up in the early 80s (like Nexus). Raw was also a pretty big deal back then, especially because that is where Maus was originally serialized. Weirdo #1 also came out in the early 80s becoming the bridge between 70s underground comics and the alternative comics boom that happened in the 90s.

Thank you for the great information Goredongoredon regarding the early 80s B&W comics. I remember reading Maus and comics by Eclipse Publishing that were black and white- and they will be shown in the upcoming parts of this series! I am at the mercy of what my time machine brings me :) I am definitely going to check out some of the Nexus books and Weirdo #1! I appreciate you stopping by and watching!
