I tried ctrl+f but it doesn't work
I one year to late to this, but before that part, he says to copy the layer you shaped out (cntrl + c) then when you get to that part cntrl + f should work. Took me a few minutes to figure it out, hopefully it helps someone else new watching this..

I’m trying to do it on my PC i feel like i get w everything except the part where we have to mask it doesn’t come up like yours on the screen idk if I’m missing a part lol
I think you need to change from your pen tool to the Select tool and select the image so that it shows up in the transparency window
Also you need to copy [CTRL + C] the first shirt layer
Where did you guys get your white t shirt image? I can find a free picture with a high enough resolution.

this was so hard to follow and didnt add up at the end sadly. that dude popping up on the screen could be way smaller too lol made it hard to rewind and watch it pop up 1000 times. nt tho

Tried this and for some reason I cannot get the path to copy after applying mask, clicking on black side then ctrl-f. It just turns white artboard. What am I doing wrong?
So if you can’t get the path to copy, you probably locked the layer. With the layer unlocked and turned on, Click on the layer and hit command c. Then turn the layer off. Now go to the shirt layer, make the transparency mask, hit command f, and invert the mask.

I'm exact following up your instructions but when i make mask, everything goes out of the game and nothing comes back after clicking command F and invert mask. I'm continuously doing it atleast 6 times and nothing happens. Please tell me what's going wrong in here!

I can't get the outline of the shape anytime i press ctrl + f, I keep getting the white artboard. I followed all the steps correctly so what am I doing wrong?
You should close watch to those layers he works with.
1. trace the image with pen tool and fill black.
2. Copy that black filled path.
3. lock and toggle visibility the path layer.
4. select the source image layer, go to transparency > make mask
5. click on the mask (black box) hit Ctrl/ Comnd + f, then invert mask
6. duplicate the source image, layer order it above the path layer.
7. unlock and toggle visibility and change the color of the path layer.
it ll work for you. it works for me after few attempt.👍
Ya i wouldn’t say you were too fast but rather you might have skipped over a lot of important information that older users may already know but people looking for a tutorial on how to do this wouldn’t.
