  • Do you remember when you were younger, and every experience felt like a first? Where did that magic go?
From pure chocolate sculptures of cherries, tree trunks and magic mushrooms to carrot cake soil and kumara and sage leaves to reflect our Autumnal energy, this high tea isn’t your average high tea.
Julie Han of @tablebloomnz brought Ōtautahi a glimpse of that wonder and awe a few weeks ago when her team collaborated with Nel Vicencio of @mindyourtemper and Simon Suffolk of @ilexbotanicgardens to put on this Edible Garden in quite possibly the best venue in the heart of the Botanic Gardens.
We are super excited to be releasing this new documentary highlighting Julie, not just as the highly acclaimed pastry chef this city knows her as, but the incredible human who by all accounts has overcome hell or high water in the pursuit of being of service to others.

Small correction- Simon meant to say Julie had worked with chefs from the sister hotel, the Le Bristol in Paris as well as chefs from the Connaught while working at the Lanesborough:)

I can't think of any chefs of Julie's caliber who have the same humility, sense of self-worth, and discipline to go from a high-powered Michelin environment to the much more accessible farmers market, simply for the purpose of bringing high-quality food to people without the crazy price tag. She's so one-of-a-kind - a true gem! Thank you for bringing the spotlight to her 🌟

    Hi Julie
Thank you for taking the risk and coming to New Zealand, I wish you and your future family every success and may you find joy in everyday. Kiwi's are a strange bunch we trust easy and we invite people into our lives, may you be surrounded by people who mutually add and give to one another's life experiences. It warms my heart when people from other cultures who are so talented they would be welcomed by any country but choose little old New Zealand.
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata - It is people, it is people, it is people
    Kia Kaha - Stay strong
I hope to make it to the markets one day and try your products and experience your infectious positivity and spirit.

At a cost that opens up this world to many of us who can part with some of our earnings to sample delectable delights without us breaking the bank.
Her story brought tears to my eyes …. Her love and understanding of her parents LOVE 💕. She went forward in life moving forward NOT as a victim of her circumstances BUT TO BLOOM into all her GLORY to create her LIFE worthy of genuine respect from all around her.
It is refreshing to watch this instead of the wokeness we see today parading on our media channels.

@@StoryBites. Maybe $9? But everyone here in Canada are also rich. They willingly pay $950,000 for 600 sq. ft. apartments without busting a sweat. I think I might be the only poor person in my country.

The only thing I need to raise is that carrot cake isn’t French at all and this is from someone who lived in France for years. The French adopted carrot cake, cupcakes, muffins, cinnamon rolls and brownies and are great at marketing them as their owns. Instead of giving credit to the French, I would instead, call it Julie’s carrot cake !

@@fjordhellas4077 The reason I call it my French carrot cake “French” is I have a unique recipe and technique which make the cake really light and moist. I learn that from French chef so I called it French carrot cake. But I like Julie’s carrot cake too :)

To find the missing void volunteer at a foster center, those sadness is from not feeling loved.
And it’s highly recommended to take off the gloves before you speak to an audience unless you’re about to rob a bank!
