Steve Clark's role in Def Leppard went on LONG after his death. The original Demo for "When Love and Hate Collide" was done primarily by him. He was called the "Riftmaster" by his band mates for a reason. The Thunder God, however, was probably influenced by the insane amount of performers he was exposed to as a young man. I mean, come ON, he opened for AC/DC on his 16th birthday! Even so, Rick Allen's skill never lost its touch. Once again, Def Leppard is like no other band. Rock On.

"On Through The Night" always flashes me back to my freshman and sophomore year in high school. My buds and I always trying to scrape up enough money for a dime bag, a sixth pack of Schlitz, and a bottle of Boone's Farm. Not a freakin' care in the world. I saw these guys around this time in 1981 when I was 15 opening up for Ozzy on the Blizzard tour .2 big takeaways I remember from this concert the first was not only how good Def was but how young they were .does anyone realize Rick Allen is just 16 about to turn 17 when this video was shot ? (just before I saw them in Sep 81) they were all under 21 except Joe .and secondly how great Randy Rhoads was for Ozzy

I saw them on that tour in Maine.Aug.of '81.
They energy was like puppies that just got let out of their pen to play.😊
And Randy.Geezus.I wasn't even sure what I was witnessing was real.He was awesome. We were lucky to see them all at that point in their careers.👍
      Rock on!🤟🎶🎸🥁🔥

@@jeffhodge7272 Yeah I kno exactly what you meant about Randy lol I was like in a trance not able to take my eyes off him the whole set .Ozzy was jumping up and down just clapping his hands constantly but it's a wonder I ever even saw him at all .everything Randy was doing was like you said didn't seem possible .and I had already seen Eddie twice before this and I SWEAR TO GOD .didn't impress me half as much as Randy did .and Rhoads stage presence was like nothing any other musician I've ever witnessed .he was like a Rockstar from another planet .Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix were the only two that ever came close to commanding the stage like that .seriously make no mistake about it Rhoads was the main attraction in that band and that show.

Back when this album was released 79-80ish, it sold out at the old Tower Records on Rosecrans in SD within a week. My dad was finshing the 5 Rosecrans/ 8 / Point Loma overpass and I Begged him for this album. The manager got the slow boat shipment, and he gave my dad the only bonus of "Good morning freedom " and Me and my wine " demo play" England included in the shipment. Thanks dad .

Sweet; T-Rex; Bowie and Queen were their biggest influences. They never were a metal band. They were a little more aggressive in the beginning because that is what teenagers usually are. As they matured, so did their music.

This song and "Answer to the Master" are my favorites from this album. I rocked out to this whole great album, "On Through the Night," Album in high school. Oh, you kids don't know what you missed! We didn't need text messages and all the lame crap of today--we were rockin' and rollin', movin' and grooving with the ladies. Lots of wild times in the back seat of our cars with women, drive-in adventures. God what I wouldn't give to go back when America had more heart. The music and PC culture are all so lame now.

Pops saw 3 unknown English bands at a club in Boston Massachusetts the year before i was born-1980. Judas Priest,Scorpions and Def Leppard! 3unknown bands at 1 show!!! This was the NWOBHM era Def leppard! He has old Polaroid pictures of all 3. RobHalford of J.P. drives out in his Harley Davidson, which is impressive given its a small club stage. He said he could see him throwing up in a bucket pre-show and Rob STILL hit all the high voice octaves! What a great time for metal!

    • @marcosegovia8587
