I've been living in the Philippines, starting in 1983. I bought two lots and built two homes on them. One for me and my Filipina wife and one for my son. I've bought three new cars and I put more than $10,000.00 in savings. Life here is very good! I am so glad I left the US.

As a citizen of Manila, Luzon sinced birth. There is a lot of staycation apartments in Metro Manila. But a lot cheaper in Provinces. However the benefits living in Metro Manila. You have the fastest access to North and South Provinces. Living in Metro is Expensive but fun however you cannot have the Beautiful views like that in Metro only Buildings and Small Businesses. I suggest stay in Tagaytay or Makati or QC

If you make the Philippines your home base, you can travel to other neighboring countries more easily, not just switching from urban to rural or resort life from week to week inside the island nation. Many foreigners have traveled from Manila to Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Middle East, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Palau, Guam, etc. Some have settled here permanently while spending a few months a year back in the USA or Europe.

Splendid video, just to put things in better context, stated cost of living is ok if you are living in a secondary or provincial city with a modest lifestyle, by western standards. The cost of living will significantly be a bit higher especially for the rent if you go to the primary urban centers like Makati or Cebu. Most of the country is tourist friendly and safe for solo tourist but for those thinking of visiting the Philippines on their own, just do your research very well or have someone who is familiar with the culture and norms as to give you a better guidance and experience on your stay. This will also help you to get better deals and avoid unsure places. Other than that, Philippines is an excellent destination for tourist, gives you a better value for your money.

The only downside for foreigners who wish to live here is the weather conditions. Most of the time it gets very very hot here which will make you sweat a lot if you are not used to it. It also just randomly rains here so always bring an umbrella. But if you manage to get used to all of that and you have a good enough financial background then you can live here. Also, it is very traffic here, especially in dense urban areas like Manila.

And about the costs, if you try more to adapt to local food options you pay much less for groceries for example and the rent prices here are also more cheap at most other places, but with the same standards or higher.. Angeles is a special place, where a lot of foreigners stay because of.. well lets talk about something else...
But if you live at other places, you also save there.. 600$ is not so tough to beat actually.

I'm paying $35 for 500 Mbps and another $25 for 300 Mbps for my other house. So the internet being that slow is probably just in his place. I live in Northern part of Luzon.
Also just a correction, Internet speed is usually measured in Megabits per second, not Megabytes per second. The difference is 8 bits = 1 byte.

Minimum wage here in Philippines is about $200 a MONTH that's maybe 3 days work in US for minimum wager too. Our cost of living may sounds cheap for most country but in reality if you are living and working in Philippines it is not cheap at all. So imagine, our cost of living is about 3x cheaper in other country but our salary is 10x lower. For most people here, we work just to survive.

I was in The Philippines 🇵🇭 as a boy 👦. Angeles City is where Clark Air Force used to be.
Recently, I went to The Philippines 🇵🇭 in December 2022. I got bang bang for $1. 😃 As for cash 💸 more than $1, I lived like a king 🤴

I'm a Filipino, I would suggest for those who wants to live or visit our country, please know the currency rates, travel fare( taxi, jeep, tricycle, prices of the hotel, apartment, condominium, food, restaurant) because I hate to say this but few of our people are taking advantage of the foreigners, well I think most of the countries have that kind of people too, so All I want to say is be smart and aware so you will not be the victim of those people, don't get me wrong most of the Filipinos are very hospitable people
I love my county, the more foreigners to come, more job for Filipinos

The value of Philippine Peso has weakened because of the Pandemic, the war, and some relevant issues. Not only the Philippines, but also the other countries in the world. The Dollar has been so powerful that US companies have expanded their business into the rest of the world. One good example is the Gas; it's cheap in the US but we all suffer the price hike.

This 2023 this year, the internet speed has changed drastically. I've been paying my own internet connection worth 1625 pesos = 29 dollars per month. The speed is just good, 200 to 300 mbps internet speed (upload and download speed). So it's pretty good.

  • @pao2xthepanda
    @pao2xthepanda 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

For the Internet connection, the average here in the Philippines is 150 Mbps for upload and download (including mobile), so that is actually very slow. For the scooter, many people here have it because (1) they can't afford a car, (2) parking here in the Philippines is an issue with the majority of establishments not having a dedicated parking, and (3) to avoid traffic since scooters can bypass most of the traffic by getting in between vehicles.

He's living in the province, but here in Manila
You can get a good apartment with 2 bedrooms for atleast a cost of $500-$700 a month usually without a furniture included.
You can get a full furnished one at around $500 but with only 1 bedroom.
