    Hi Brian and Tess finally an honest Aussie cost of living in the Philippines video. Our situation is pretty much identical in that l have a wonderful phillapina girlfriend from the province who doesn't want for anything and I'm still in Australia but hopefully will be moving there full time to be with her. I will be living on my savings until I reach pension age in 4 years time and your budget is what I plan to spend so spot on mate. I am a subscriber and really enjoy your channel and looking forward to catching up with you guys one day. Just to let you know I spent 3 months there and it was costing me around 20000 pesos ($516) a month for two of us that included everything including visas. We did have cheap rent only 3000 for a little studio apartment it was perfect and all the mangoes you can eat for free.
    That also included going out for dinner and lunch 2 or 3 times a week so it can be done. Keep those videos coming can't wait to see your house build, cheers mate!!!🍻🍻

      Yes it definitely can be done as you say, I also have another subscriber renting a 4 bed 2 bath house with 3 adults and 1 child living there for just $550 per month so if you are not drinking or smoking it's definitely a cheaper way to live than back in Aus. Thanks for your support and for watching.

    • @BrianandTesinthePhilippines

      I would never use medical services here though mate, misdiagnosis is common and the doctors are so poorly trained here. A doctor from the Philippines is not recognised in Australia. They need to do complete 7 years medical training again if they want to practice in Australia. That shows just how inadequate they are. It's a shame but its just a fact here in Pinas. Back to home country for any medical work and just hope and pray we don't ever need emergency medical.

Im not trying to compare my lifestyle to anyone elses, but to actually live a decent lifestyle in calamba city you better have 2,000 a month, because as i have stated food and electricity is crazy here. Now if you want to live in the province (jungle) in a shack and eat rice with every meal you can live cheaper for sure. Yes you can have a joint bank account here but only after you have your 13a or SRRV visa. If you are only on a tourist visa then it's not possible to open an account here in your name as far as I am aware. Some of our subscribers may correct me if i'm wrong but that's my understanding. They will ask for your ACR card at the bank as part of your ID and it will say TOURIST if you have not acquired your residency visa. Also I don't know if Aus government will transfer it direct to a Pinas account as there will be exchange rates to apply which fluctuate all the time. I still have Aussie bank accounts and just transfer money across to Philippines bank once per month using the Wise app. There are fees that apply of course but I find it the simplest way to do it. There are other apps you can use but a lot of them are much more difficult. Hope that helps mate and thanks for watching.

    When your new house is complete will there be ongoing costs involved? One of the reasons I moved from UK was to avoid the annual Council Tax which is a tax on property ownership. For my tiny cottage that tax is currently £1071.23 (about 80,000 pesos) per year.

      There is only a land tax which is normal for any country but it's very inexpensive as most things in Pinas are. Like a couple of thousand pesos per year. It's based on what you pay for your land so if you fudge the figures you don't pay much at all.

    Hey, Brian...an unrelated question, please. I was reading comments in another PH vlogger where that person was giving a historical derivation of the word "mate". He said that this is a shortened word for inmate of years past when the first Aussi settlers were prisoners. Is this true?

      @BrianandTesinthePhilippines  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@scottdacombe9320 Philippines is visa free for 30 days from Australia, then you can extend for 29 days at immigration. After that you can get 2 months at a time but if you're married to a Filipina you can get a 13a. Or as a single man over 40 years old you can get SRRV as a retirement visa. Also if you leave the country and return with your wife you are eligible for balikbayan privilege which allows you to come and go for 1 year free of charge.

    Hey Brian and Tess, great content as always! Can you post a pic of your expenses as a list? your budget is about what i have available to spend atm so thought it would be a good source to work from. after three months there and travelling, buying tools and a vehicle etc was really hard to work out a budget for later when staying put in either a rental or home we own but have been hoping it would be achievable on $1500 aud a month for the two of us. still deciding where to live and doing some fundraising (selling off a heap of gear i’ve accumulated) in australia before i return more permanently to be with Jane, currently in Baliuag. Initially thought we would try to get somewhere near the waterfront but from experience, so hard to actually get onto waterfront as most beaches privately owned. 😢 not like australias free access beaches in most places. so, to get a waterfront property seems too expensive wherever i’ve looked in Luzon so far (Bicol and further south towards Matmog, Batangas, Zambales and north to LaUnion). been looking on fb marketplace as most real estate sites have properties way too expensive for me. am considering living in the provinces somewhere like DRT in the rolling hills, hive country atmosphere and maybe cheaper that many spots. Haven’t visited any islands yet but assume some would be much cheaper property. don’t want to get too far away from Janes family though as you would understand. anyway, you said you knew of very small waterfront lots for $9000? any info appreciated and or recommended facebook groups or brokers to talk to. cheers guys. Al, another Aussie in the Philippines again real soon.

      @@alhaynes7122 Hi Al, I did see a waterfront site for sale at 9k I think it was in Illigan?? Can't remember now as it was over a year ago but you will definitely survive on $1500 per month with only 2 of you even if you're renting. If you own it will be more like $1000 and some are renting and living on just $550 with 3 adults and 1 child. Just search for FB groups selling land in the area you want to live and join those groups is the best bet. Facebook is King here as you probably already know 🦘✌️
