Excellent video! Im intrigued by the MR setup you mentioned but could not follow details of what was done. Could I ask you to outline here? I’m expecting my GT3 in February (in the US) and would love to figure out a way to do the same set up.
Thanks for taking time watching/subscribing 🙏 and big congratulations on your 992 GT3. Fantastic car 👍. Are you taking a European delivery and joining us at the Nordschleife? I every year meet some US guys utilizing this option getting some driving experiences in Europe in a very easy and wellorganised way. Back to setting up your 992. I am the kind of driver that always has driven a car the way that it has been setup and adjusted my driving style and driver input accordingly. But over the years, as I have developed my driving and pace, it has become increasingly evident how the setup of the car is absolutely key to a great driving experience and driver engagement. I have, also as instructor, been driving many cars on track and you can directly feel if the cars has a good setup or not. Driving style and setup preferences can differ but the feeling when the car has an overall balance is just fantastic. You can feel how the car is responding to your driver inputs in a predictable way creating a calm and focused driving style allowing you to explore more pace and momentum. @Manthey are great at what they do, especially for Porsches on the Nürburgring. No wonder that they have become good at this as the have all the knowledge from their own racing, other racing drivers/teams, customer cars and operating the Porsche Racing Experience. As the Nordschleife is very demanding in many ways, I have found that the Manthey setup also works great on other tracks, also with different characteristics. Needless to say, if you want to drive at 100% you will benefit from adjusting your setup for each track, but for me, you have then moved into the "racing mode" rather than "trackday mode" and then the mindsets a totally different one on why you spend the day at the track. Manthey basically works in three steps. You can do all modifications at once or step-by-step as you go along. 1.Setup, 2. MR suspension or 3 full MR kits. When Manthey do the setup of your car they are working on your wheel alignment, ride hight, corner weight, sway bar settings and adjusting the aero. They also give you recommendation of tyre pressure depending on car modell and tyre type (Cup 2´s, Tropheo R´s, Cup 2R´s etc) As you progress and develop your driving and skill, they will adjust your setup based on your input but also offering you new more advanced levels allowing the car to perform "sharper" but requiring more from the driver. I like to drive and develop my driving experience, not experimenting with a setup on my. That's why I love to have someone that can take care of that part, someone who knows what they are doing and being next to the track all the times so that I can enjoy my driving. For the coming season I will take it one more step with my 996.2 GT3 and have Manthey install their MR version of the KW 3-way competition suspension that will be configured based on my specific car. I am super excited about this! You will be able to follow that in my 996 GT3 playlist th-cam.com/play/PL407HJOGxsenslahFyCuiE8TzJc23uR_d.html. If I were in your shoes, I would contact Manthey (Michael Grassl is a great guy) and they would be able to perhaps direct you on how get access to the Manthey knowledge in the US. Since Manthey a few years ago became a subsidiary of Porsche AG, the are expanding their reach by establishing local presence in many other geographical markets in various ways. Sorry, for the long answer :-) Let me know how things develop with your new GT3. All the best / Jonas Nilsson
Great honest review about the 992. Amazing to see the entry corners and how easy the car seems to turn compared to an older 911 such as a 996 or 997. Guess the combination of rear wheel steering + double wishbone front suspensions make it much more accessible and provides greater confidence in most situations (also high speed corners). Viva la Scuderia Hanseat, great experience! Greetings from Group 3 ;) .
Hi Alex, thanks 🙏 The Scuderia is a great way to develope your driving on the Nordschleife. Were you driving the grey 997.2 3.8 GT3 RS? Here is some on-board with my 996 GT3 from NBR earlier this year th-cam.com/video/YQ2hD-gWgSU/w-d-xo.html
Hey great video, and even greater driving with the 992. I enjoy a lot the times together with you on the nurburgring, and already looking forward for the next time. In the meantime, drive safe and take care👍
I see the blue lights come on for the rev limit and I'm so excited that you're having so much fun with the GT3 on the Nordschleife and I'm so excited for the two days with you in two weeks Jonas in our age everything has to be more extreme especially driving our cars😂😜 your video is so great I love this video it's a masterpiece
Hi, I use the RAM mounts. Roll cage mount RAM-B-108-GOP1U (with a short arm) or RAM-B-108BU (just the roll cage mount) and then add a longer arm RAM-B-201U-C 👍
Yes, they are definitely great cars. I would say that the 996 GT3 represent a great value today. Still a lot of money but compared to many other GT models, I believe its great value. Here is a link to me driving my 996 GT3 on NBR earlier this year th-cam.com/video/YQ2hD-gWgSU/w-d-xo.html
I agree on awesome car but not being overpriced. Yes, it's more expensive than previous GT3´s but, from a trackday perspective, considering what the car can do lap after lap over a full season without any modifications, I would not say it's overpriced but agree that it is a lot of money. The 992 GT3 is probably the best performing car out of the box, at least on the Nürburgring.
