You are correct that Angelina has signed with Republic Records. The fact that she has not signed before now is totally by her (and her family's) choice. Many labels have been chasing her for years, but she just wanted to be a kid first. One thing I want to point out (because you mentioned it)... something that really makes Angelina special (for me) is that she does not over-enunciate. I know that as a formally trained singer/coach it probably seems important to really enunciate, but I hope she never gets that coached out of her. Her soft and flexible pronunciations of some words is what makes her sound so natural and so organic. After listening to her so much, it really throws me off and disconnects me from the song when I hear other singers over enunciate the words. With Angelina it seems like the connection to the song comes first, and is not dependent on understanding every single word. She could be singing in another language and it would still pull me in.

The interesting thing is that with her natural, organic and flexible approach to each sound, word and phrase, she brings out a richer and more complete meaning to the lyrics and the song as a whole. For Angelina, every technique, arrangement and vocal choice are at the service of the song and the listeners’ experience. Vocal coaches would do well to encourage a similar approach for their students who are aspiring artists. Perhaps mastery of core techniques would come quicker in the process.

I like the way she plays with her pronunciation, too. I know it isn't a recommended trait, but like you said, it's one of the things that makes her her.

Agreed, and the connection, at least for me, was established the first time I listened to her several years ago, and has continued unabated ever since. Angelina could sing a shopping list and still touch my heart in some way.

@@irregularjoe1782 , I've watched many reactions to Angelina and others by so-called vocal coaches, and I've come to a conclusion about 90% of them........They should shut down their reaction channels and stick to their day jobs so that they can contribute to the further ruin of naturally talented young people.

Angelina is the most complete young artist we have in the world today! Many who sing well, but we can ask them if they can switch credibly between jazz, edm, pop, country, and classical music in no time. In addition to her beautiful voice, you also have a unique communication ability. After Angelina has sung a cover song, I rather continue on her and forget the original artist. And she's still only 15 years old.

What! You have not yet reacted to her Million Miles? So many commentators say that Angelina is fearless in taking on the great icons from Holiday to Queen to Adele. What I learned from her brief interview in LA was when she sings she is in this wonderful world where all the good and happy things exist. I am not quoting her literally but my interpretation is that when she sings she enters that world where nothing, including the icon comparisons or stage fright matters. She is just in a different world. But in Million Miles Angelina shares with us the universal feeling of loss and longing.

You need to listen to Angelina Jordan’s latest song/video (live studio version) ‘Million Miles’. She wrote the lyrics after she just lost her Grandfather recently. It is her first single off her new album after signing with Republic Records. I think this is a very good move by having this particular song to be her first released song off the album because everyone in the world at this point has been affected by the lose of a friend and/or family member due to COVID over the past year.. Also, I’m not sure if you know why she sings barefooted when performing.... At 5 years old, she saw a homeless little girl the same age as her living on the streets who had no shoes. She gave the little girl the shoes off her feet and now always performs barefoot to bring awareness to all the people in the same situation as that one little girl she ran into that day.

Ken, thank you for reacting with Angelina again, it's been too long since the last time and it's a shame considering the remarkable possibilities of quality that offers the list of her performances and there is also the last his single "Million Miles", released 4 weeks ago on his new label Republic Records, is simply stunning.
    th-cam.com/video/NhKRh5ZtuWk/w-d-xo.html
This is an exceptional song, for the music, for the lyrics, for how well balanced it's and to finish because it is made by a 12 year old girl, the subject of the texts is certainly not what every twelve year old thinks, but she naturally understand instead that she is still very young, even if unique, and therefore she needs a shield, between her and the world. Someone to protect her, from what has happened to so many great artists, even among those she admires, like Avicii, Amy, Whitney. This is why I believe that the lyrics refer to her family, they are the ones who defend her 🤗 ❤️
If you like to also get to know a different side of Angelina, this is the interview she had during that same show, they start in Norwegian, but they immediately switch to English, it's very interesting

You said you were surprised that she hadn't signed with a record label years ago. Now we know from her manager/uncle, Michael Astar, that she has been turning down record labels since she won Norway's Got Talent when she was 8. She has been honing her skills for the last 6 years while going to school & trying to have a "normal" childhood. Republic Records finally made her an offer she couldn't refuse after they heard her latest original song, Million Miles , produced by 4 time Grammy winning Stargate Productions. When Stargate played it for RR founder & CEO, Monty Lipman, it was all over & he had to sign her. The song is a tribute to her Grandpa who passed a year ago, but she said it was for anyone who has lost a loved one. It's a lyric video with beautiful animation based on artwork by Angelina & her Grandma, artist Mery Zamini. It's very emotional so have tissues available. th-cam.com/video/NhKRh5ZtuWk/w-d-xo.html

Angelina is absolutely unique amongst all of the other talented singers. Angelina is much more intellectually advanced, mature and professional than any other young singer I have seen so far. She is unlike any other young singer I have listened to. That fact that Angelina wrote this song and others at twelve years old is a testament to her exceptional musical talent and abilities. Now that she is signed with Republic Records her young career is about to go super nova.

One of the aspects of Angelina's voice I enjoy most is her "imperfect" diction on some notes. She could be singing in Manderin and I wouldn't care. The music comes first, as her voice IS the music, often a capella or with one acoustic accompaniment. If perfect diction was that important, well kiss Joe Cocker, Bob Dylan, and Springsteen and others goodbye, as diction was not their hallmark, as it was more about their "style." I hope Angelina never loses that quality in her renditions.
Her spoken English is perfect IMO. I've heard her mispronounce exactly two English words since age 8. So perfect, her fellow Norwegians have said she now sounds like an American who is well educated in Norwegian when she speaks her native language.
As for her family and Angelina turning down all previous offers, in her Republic Records bio and a recent Variety article they/she said, "At eight-years-old, she won Norway’s Got Talent with a viral rendition of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday.” Labels and producers feverishly sought her out, but she already possessed a clear picture of what her path would be. Taking her time, she opted to carefully hone her voice through countless hours of practice, gigs, and writing." And Angelina is quoted, "It was really great, but I knew I wanted something bigger. I didn’t want to jump into it until I felt I was ready.” That and a normal childhood and education were priorities. Well, she's ready now! Thanks for the reaction Ken, and always looking forward to the next.

Ken it is wonderful to have you back in Angelina's world. Shield was written by Angelina along with a few others and is a tribute to her family and inner circle who shield her from all potential dangers. The line, "Forgive me for all that I am" demonstrates her awareness that her fame has placed a huge burden on her loved ones. "Surround me with angels, don't let them go" I believe refers to her fans (angels) and most certainly we will do all we can to support and protect her. Angelina has become my all time favorite vocalist, as she has the unique ability to evoke so much emotion and I can FEEL her music.

It is a revelation to hear Angelina covering Adele. Angelina always respects the original singer, but gives us an incredibly personal take that is unmistakably Angelina. And she is the best interpreter of lyrics I’ve ever heard. Her cover of Adele’s A Million Years Ago is stunning in its personal, emotive simplicity. Someone Like You, another Adele cover, shows Angelina’s ability to take a difficult song and just kill it without even looking like she’s trying. I love Adele, but as with so many of Angelina’s covers, she immediately gives you a new favorite version. I’d love to hear your reaction to one of those.

Good to see you back with Angelina. I love her broad textured low voice, feels like a gentle resonance - so gorgous. There are some attempts to cover her on youtube already. Makes it just so much more visible what a tight line she's walking with the composition of all the bits and pieces she put into e.g. Bohemian Rhapsody. Just beeing slightly off is enough to have it fall apart alltogether.
She has released her first song with Republic Records "Million Miles", it really resonates deeply with many that lost a loved one.

Re Angelina's bare feet: Tim Minchin is a hugely talented Australian musician, songwriter, singer, comedian & the composer of the stageshow "Matilda". He has bare feet, whenever possible, to help with any nerves. He can, thereby, feel like he's just in his Loungeroom at home. Even when his music comedy show in the UK was backed by the London Symphony Orchestra, he'd dressed in black tie, but still had bare feet. ⭐ I'd love to see you react to any of his work.😎 His comedy can be somewhat R rated, but he has a huge catalog of work, over the last 20+ years, beyond that. HUGE Talent. 🇭🇲 👍

Ken - I have zero interest in vocal techniques, so I don’t often listen with much attentiveness. However, I listened today with some interest (reason - unknown) and actually understood what you were saying. So, if an old musical illiterate such as myself can understand you, I imagine your students will really benefit from your coaching.
Although different from your diction observation, I think, you may have also noticed: singing Every Time We Say Goodbye (rooftop setting), Angelina sings goods instead of gods. I am so enamored with Angelina that it didn’t detract from my appreciation at all. In fact, that performance is a favorite. We get to listen to her unadulterated voice - no embroidery added. To fully understand the singer and person that she is, here are a very few suggestions that you just can’t miss- I hope you’ve already heard them, but in case you haven’t:
Either “ Summertime” or “ What a Difference a Day Makes” or both ( age 8?); “Stay” ( Rihanna) -age 11? ; “ A Million Years Ago”( Adele)- age 11 or 12 . There are so many more, but these are iconic, and show her range and diversity. Please don’t miss them!!

It's called "Million Miles" and is dedicated to everyone who has lost a loved one, based on Angelina's own experience of losing her grandpa at the end of 2019. She wrote "Shield" when she was 12 and "Million Miles" I think when she was 13/14.
What you'll find is an official lyric video of Milion Miles with drawings based on Angelina's grandma's illustrations of Angelina's book "Between Two Hearts". Please don't wait so long to react to this and be prepared to be impressed AND emotional! 😉

The part where you told yourself to shut up, about 5:30, you should know that i was very interested in what you had to say. I come to these vocal coach reactions for almost sadistic reasons. I enjoy watching her break those in the know with her voice, and she has broken down the best of them in short form. I enjoy getting a greater understanding of how the voice works. I'd love to be able to sing. I grew up poor, so I used my voice and stage presence to be a debater and public speaker. I'm good too. I don't get stage freight. I like being in front of an audience, and have a quite unique and carrying voice that has been described ad deep and bright at the same time. People who have known me for a day never mistake my voice for anyone else even on the telephone.

She was approached by a great number of record labels but chose to turn them down. I Feel certain that she does not want to be micromanaged or told what songs to sing but wants to protect her own style and have her freedom. Whatever deal she did sign I’m sure must have respect those wishes.

Well, I’ve been watching Scituate one and a half singing and I’m still keeping my eyes on her this song she wrote her cell. They flew her halfway around the world here or sang the song where she says the best rapper bro she’s going to she’s got some more song million miles shield what is life but she is with Republic records and they brought they definitely be like Ariana Grande Drake. This is the best of the best how they got her on the Hall of Fame in a wrecker company. She part of the family now he’s 17 now.

Ken thanks for reacting. I would like to collaborate with a concept. A song is a musical story where the singer and the orchestra narrate the story, this should be the essence of every song. We live in a dualistic, universally dualistic world and music is no exception; There are those who see music as a vocal gymnastics, a string duel, a show duel on stage, while there are others (like me) who believe that music is a simple narrative. Chuck Schuldiner's band Death (1983) that gave birth to metal rock is a great example. Like all metal music the voice is grotesque and seems without musical meaning, but when studying the lyrical composition it is extremely fascinating and rich, and the music and the musicians of the band "work to enrich" the written narration. What happened after the band Death? the metalheads in general forgot the narration and how the musicians of other genres were dedicated to making melodic lines, shows and figures that have nothing to do with history. Angelina Jordan is one of those little miracles that come to Earth to return us to the right path, in this case music. Hopefully the musicians and singers understand this idea and begin to delve into the songs literally, and the famous singers for so much money and fame is hardly possible to change but the new promises such as Dimash, Daneliya Tuleshova, Diana Ankudinova, Grace Vanderwaal, Aurora, Courtney Hadwin It would be great if they would dedicate themselves to the narration, to give colors and nuances as a multidimensional story and that the show is left for the mundanes (is my opinion).

I wouldn't worry about her losing clarity of words. In many of the covers she does, it is the first time I've actually heard/understood the lyrics of songs.
I would love to see someone knowledgeable write a book or two on how she learned / taught herself to sing different genres. Needs access in depth to the subject though.

Nice reaction. Please react to Amira Willinghagen, first audition on Holland got talent with the song O mio babino caro (9 years old who learns the song on youtube by her own without any vocal lessons) . After that performance she performs the same song after receiving some vocal lessons on a live concert with André Rieu. So you can observe her evolución.
