This was the best video to choose a good job. Always love your reaction and Angelina Jordan. She is also asking for forgiveness "Forgive me for all that I am" think about that. What is she? A Singer! She understands the sacrifices her family makes for her to be a singer. It is easy for a little girl (7yrs) to say they want to be a superstar but at 12 she is able to see the work (by all involved), not just talent that goes into that request. I love that she can see that, so many kids think they just deserve everything handed to them but she is not like that. She was raised to be grateful, that is so wonderful. She has two others that she wrote: "What Is Life" and "Oslo" which I love.

This for me is an exceptional song, for the music, for the lyrics, for how well balanced it's and to finish because it is made by a 12 year old girl. If you think about it, the subject of the texts is certainly not what every twelve year old thinks, but it is natural for her instead to understand that she is still very young, even if unique, and therefore she needs a shield, between her and the world, that can easily ruin or destroy her, just as it has happened to many talented and young artists, even among those she admire, such as Avicii, Amy, Whitney. This is why I believe that, after all, although there is no official confirmation, the lyric are referring to her mother and perhaps also to her grandmother, they are the ones who defend she, in particular (I think) from the dangers of the entertainment industry.

Hello, thank you so much for always giving such insightful and honest reactions. Angelina most definitely has a strong work ethic. She's kind hearted, but seems very strong willed. I believe she's very aware of the dark side of the music industry, as well as the world around her. This song definitely conveys that. As young as she is, she's already quite accomplished so I'm quite sure that she and her family have had some experiences with that already. I hope and pray that she will be forever Shield from harm. May the strong foundation that her family has given her, as well as their love for her be what continues to keep her safe and grounded. As to your blue reference, very interesting that you noticed that. Blue symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. Thanks for another great Angelina reaction. This song is astonishing, I agree. I think that besides her mother and grandmother, her uncle/manager is a very important part of Angelina's "Shield wall" that she can count on to protect her. Michael seems to be a very savvy guy, well aware of the snares the music industry can use to take an artist and mold her into whatever they want, for their own profit. I don't think she will be exploited as long as they are there to look after her best interests.

I hope holding back does not cause problems in the future. So much competition for her coming up fast .Grace, Connie Jackie, Diana. Charlotte. Daneliya is on AGT 2020 as we speak, getting rave reviews as if she is the only great voice out there.. Baloney, they have great voices, but they are cookie cutter voices, pop style. Angie is the voice of the past, the present, and the future of music. Her smoky, tender magical voice is like no other. She sings what I call Jim Reeves style. Softy, tenderly, full of emotion,full of love. She does Elvis so well. and even looks like him. With her height, and slim build she could be a singing supermodel, or singing actress like Doris Day from back in the 60's

When you're Angelina Jordan, yes, you do need protection. Her family gives her that protection and she is grateful. We are all grateful. Could you react to her If You Go Away? Rusty has a new revised version out and it's pretty amazing. Shield is my all time favorite from Angelina, could you imagine if she would have sung this on AGT? Fantastic.
That's not just music, that's the tune "I am Music", come to life. She writes the songs... and she can sing the alphabet, in six languages, and make the song world class. She has a grandmother who is an international art icon, so she's probably been made aware of some of the dangers, but to be able to recognize that she needs a shield, and sing about it,,, that's epic. I believe in some sort of reincarnation, every time I listen to her sing. Also she does her own arrangements, and the music is subject to her approval. @@kevingood4644 Hi Kevin. You could do worse and maybe not better. I personally, and truly believe, that she will bring people together by appealing to an age group that spans 3 through 100. The calming, healing tone that people respond to transcends age. I think her base at the moment is mostly us old guys. She has shown how she can sing such a wide variety of music and grab the attention of a much younger crowd as well. I think she is learning the true power that she holds and she will not waste it. With such a beautiful, loving personalty and gift she can do so much good and I think she knows it.
Was she exposed to the music industry at 12? Well, that summer, there was a massive concert at the O2 Arena in London in honour of Quincy Jones' 85th birthday. Guess who was the opening act? Quincy introduced her as "his little daughter". Apparently, he also said that he was "so proud" of her and that "the world would know her name". Yup.

At just 12 years old she writes and performs a song that could easily drop right into a bond film. Angelina's own words about this song..... "It's about someone you love... wherever you are... it's a strong love... it protects you" It has been said that this song is referring to her mother specifically, but like a true artist she has written it in a way that allows listeners to apply their own meaning to it. I have heard some that say it is a prayer song (and for them it could be). BTW: this is my personal favorite video of the song because of the quality of the production. Her live 2019 version is also very good.... you may come across that one in your travels through her library, and I recommend checking that one out too. You will probably hear some of the little changes she makes... she can even cover her own songs and improve them ;)
Also.... you mentioned how deep this is for a 12 year old..... just wait until you do her "What is Life" that she wrote at just 11 years old (or younger). The title itself tells you how deep this girl is.

Haps, just a thought, what if what she may have learned about Amy Winehouse's, Avicii's, Elvis's and others lives and as you stated the "industry" this shield is obviously important to her. Paul, this is the phrase that I have always felt was the most impactful of the lyrics. I agree with your interpretation that she knows that all the members of her family will no longer be able to live "normal" lives as they support her as she shares the magical vocal talent that she has been blessed with with the rest of the world. I believe she fully understands that her voice and musical talents are extraordinary and that she is destined to be beloved by millions if not billions of people around the world. IMO she is destined to join the pantheon of the all time greats like Holliday, Sinatra, Fitzgerald, Elvis, Whitney and Freddie Mercury. She is realistically on a journey to this level of achievement and the lyrics of this his song are her plea for the continued support of those who are closest to her.

This is Shield with Angelina's grandmother's artwork. The is the first video I watched of Shield. I was not aware at that time that this was a song supposedly written in honor of her mom. At the time she was writing the song she had already been touring around for some years.
We can only speculate but I imagine she will have gained some perspective how the entertainment industry works by then. Unless you are a star, you are unimportant in their eyes and don't have much control about anything. Sure you would be grateful to have someone retaining some sort of control for you (her mum).

I think she is singing to her family and those musicians that surround her and have nurtured her talent. Singing to Her circle of people that have protected her and encouraged her and genuinely cares about her well being.
We were talking about heaven and angels, and how nobody could know how it really is like. Then a small child in the group, I think she was fore, said; but I know, because I just came from there. ❤️ I think its kinda funny that Angelina now calls her fans Angels, making a new, alternate meaning to the phrase: surround me with angels. 😁

You may be interested to know that Angelina is in the process of signing with Republic records as their number one priority new artist! This is a huge landmark and we all knew it was coming eventually. This label also has Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes, Ariana grande, Jonas Brothers and more. We hear that she is generally signing on her own terms meaning a good deal of freedom.

Hi Hap3, I suggest you listen to the beginning of this show presented by a Swedish presenter in tv2. AJ said in that interview she doesn't feel like 12 ys.... only when she looks at her passport. I do hope a life time shield for this fantastic artist as she grows out of her teenage life into reality and we keep hearing her beautiful songs...
