Kind of find it funny that despite its pathetic range this surprisingly does more damage than Ryu's shinku Hadoken, the move that it parodies.
Despite being "weaker" than Ryu and Ken, He's FAR more interesting and FAR BETTER than them IF they were on the same level. I wonder how strong Dan would've been if Gouken had redirected his vengeance instead of kicking him out for said vengeance having lost his father as well?
I think Dan might have some big story moments in the up coming sf 6 because of the reasons you said. They keep talking about the fool character in Sf. Whos the biggest fool other than Dan?

Gotta love the underdog and Dan still has a lot of things to prove while all the other characters have already finished their stories , I think it's about time for Dan to shine and prove saikyo style is truly the strongest style

I am saving up money to buy the Season 5 for Street Fighter 5
onestly, every time I think of Dan at last having his moment to have a story (which is not a joke or a mockery of his being, as in the vast majority of previous installments in which he was) I imagine that after all these years dan will discover that he has ascendance/potential in satsui no hado (which perhaps would be a different variant since dan is not a natural killer or wants to be, he just has some ego and his main reason for doing the sayko style was for revenge which put aside for a long time but within what is possible he is someone good) I imagine that his hado would be a variant born not of the murderous instinct but of fury, despair, the importance of feeling stuck or of being useless in comparison with the rest of the world and that he can't keep his father's legacy up high and instead everyone makes fun of him or doesn't even remember him.
his variant of hado, could be mixed with his ki allowing him to make variants of his most powerful supers and his critical art, perhaps it would be dan being consumed by his hado to finish his opponent with his otoko michi (only instead of doing damage to itself would only damage the opponent) or a rain of gaoduken's boosted by the hadou to finish with a hado gadouken
