For me it was Anime Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center vs. an Annual Shriners convention using the convention center's arena stage. If only it was during the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who. The cosplayers would've fit right in.
Which Youmacon was that? And are you sure there wasn't a concert, just the usual Juggalos? As someone who lives near Detroit, I see Juggalos just randomly quite often.
The Indianapolis convention center is attached to the football stadium. At Gen Con some years back, a game let out just as the Cthulhu for President rally was march through the convention center chanting "No More Years! No More Years!", carrying signs reading "Why vote for the lesser evil?", and waving tentacles. It was glorious.
I wish that stopping to get a picture with pikachu and eevee would have made you late for the panel and thus have to explain why. Nobody would blame you.
Right? It just doesn't feel the same without that mad dash with that one special up tempo track playing. Maybe we'll get lucky and Sunday will give us LRRfolk yet?
My favourite conventions mash-up was when MCM London was on at the same time as the "Next Top Model Show". Standing at the train station watching the reactions of some of the young hopefuls to a crossplaying Leeloo in her birth outfit was an amusing highlight.
A local Anime Convention this year happened alongside what I and my friends called a "Nun party", as well as a quinceañera on the first and second days, all within the same hotel. Multiple times I was in an elevator with at least one person from each of these groups, one of which involved a very heated debate about which Nintendo character disliked the kamasutra the most, due to their physiology.
So which Nintendo character most hates the Kaka Sutra then? I feel like Kirby must be up there, globular vacuum cleaners aren't known for their flexibility.
I personally was arguing for Bowser because... I mean, come on! Dude is not only spiky af, but also definitely not the most flexible or agile being a dragon turtle. No wonder he had to adopt all the koopalings, poor dude.
The weirdest part of these vlogs is the "I saw that" "I talked to that guy" "I was there!" or the worst "Shit that's me." Though the last one was from a few South.
I was thinking the exact thing, and went to the desert bus website to see if I could submit it. I could not, but I set a reminder for myself. So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
My dichotomy: Once a group of friends and I were having a cosplay picnic for reasons, and we were sitting under a giant old tree at a local arboretum. A wedding party came along and took wedding photos on the other side of the tree. The tree was so large at the base, that we in costume didn't show in their wedding photos. I think both groups were tickled at the situation.
Assuming the Escapist panel won't go up online, can you tell us anything about what was said? (especially are you going to be doing anything for them again??)

Best convention dichotomy I've been around was a ICP concert beside youmacon in Detroit and sharing the monorail with cosplayers and juggalos.
