Non-Working Athearn SDP40 Gets a Facelift Inside and Out!

I bought this Athearn locomotive from Facebook Marketplace with the understanding that it wasn't working again. Since this had a motor, in my book the only non-working locomotives were dummy units.
I got this girl running again, properly, and gave her shell a nice new paint job!

As soon as you pulled the shell off noticed motor was in backwards

I took a look at the playback; I'd hate to disagree, but everything including the motor was correctly oriented. Perhaps you were referring to another locomotive I serviced?

@@masticshortline Maybe they made them differently through the years I mentioned that because all my blue box SD-40s have commutator facing the back. Did like your fantasy heritage paint job.
