Excellent video on injector replacement. Best one I could find. But, for future reference I replaced a defective injector with a "new" injector and in order for mine to run right, I had to "reprogram the fuel injector flow rate" for that cylinder, and, a "fuel injector reset correction" then it ran perfectly. Again, thanks for the great video.
Big Mike Thank you very much! Did you have to use a Tech2 in order to do that reset? I may be changing another injector on mine and would like to be prepared for that.
@@WelshFarms No. I used my Snap On scanner to do it. Sometimes the procedures are hard to find, but they are in there.

Thank you , best one I found. Do I need to bleed the air out of the injector before reinstalling? I'm just replacing the orings on my number 1.

just one question: I have heard that air in the fuel line can lead to CP4 failure (also, bad gas); did you purge air out of fuel line when you primed the system or is this not possible when you remove the 2 fuel lines (one going to #3 injector and the other going to the #1 injector) from the injector?

Mike Carlson, thank you. One injector costs $300 and it took me about 10 hours to do this, but I was also recording the whole thing which added some time.
If the truck was stock with EGR in place could you still get to the fittings on the rail without removing the EGR cooler from the top side?
Yes, won’t be a problem.
I found a dually online for 10k bad injectors some small body damage but even thinking about it all that work added will probably pass 16k damn might just buy a good running one with just a normal axle
I gotta replace my number one injector, from what you did does it look just as straight forward or is there a lot more to it like everyone says
It’s exactly what I did, I show the #1 injector, furthest forward on the passenger side. I even had to undo the fuel line to the #1 injector because it’s paired with the #3 injector fuel line on the manifold hold-down. Follow this video step-by-step and you’ll get it done!

I noticed you didn't lube the o rings on the injectors. I forgot to lube mine. Should I take them out and lube it? I replaced all 8 injectors. Do I need to reprogram them?
Kenny Tran yes that would be a good idea and yes they need reprogrammed.
@@WelshFarms great video btw.. when you installed without the rings being lube did you have any leaks? I've already installed injectors including new fuel lines. I rather not have to to remove everything since the fuel connections have already been formed. Thanks again for the video and quick reply.

LML injectors need to be programmed.
So if I replace an injector with a stock ratio I don’t need to do anything with a snap on just making sure?
And how hard is it to get to injector number 6
From what I’ve been told, you need to have the injector reprogrammed no matter what after replacing.
The #6 injector will be the third one back on the driver side. I did not work much on the driver side of the engine while replacing this injector or doing the delete, but visually it looks more open than the passenger side.

Don't the injector rates have to be programed in to the ecm after replacing an injector with a different one??
Big Mike, I replaced one injector with a stock injector. From my research, there is no reason to change anything in the ecm with this small of a change.
If you have a diesel, and one or more cylinders is hitting harder than the rest at idle, you have a leaky injector

Thanks for the video. Did you clean the injector port before you reinstalled the new injector? When I pulled my injector it was very dirty and there was a lot of dirt down in the port above where the seal was.
No I didn’t, but definitely recommended in hind sight!
@@WelshFarms Thanks for such a quick reply. Did the injector seat ever leak? I'm in the process of replacing all 8 of mine. CP4 killed my whole system. If yours never leaked then I'm probably getting mine clean enough.
@@eddieclark7025no problem, glad you liked it. It did end up leaking and I had to replace the seals. I had the cp3 conversion done after this!

How many miles are on these injectors that you are replacing?
Not sure, got the truck from an auction and unsure of the history.
Without seeing the numbers on the tuner, how did you know that an injector was going. What made you look into it
Dustin Childress it was the smoking that was coming out of the exhaust. Made me think that an injector was dumping too much fuel and wasn’t being burned in the engine. What do you have going on?
@@WelshFarms when I start the truck after sitting for hours I'm getting blue smoke but only for the start up. It clears up within 10 seconds or so. Wasn't sure if maybe there was a leaky injector or maybe I even had just bad fuel. I refueled and added a fuel additive but haven't started it since to see if there were any changes
Dustin Childress, yeah that’s what I’d do too, maybe run some injector cleaner through the next tank of fuel too. When did it start doing this? Could have something to do with the winter blend diesel if you’re in a colder climate.
@@WelshFarms I cant pin when it initially started but I'd say within the last month I noticed it. I added the xdp power plus because of what it offers so I'm hoping this helps. Either way the video will save me hundreds by doing it myself if it comes down to it so thanks for the in depth information
