    I really appreciate your honesty, don't be too hard on yourself, but I strongly agree with your reflections about the situations you mentioned. Thanks for sharing your experiences, future nurses like me can learn a lot from a caring nurse like you.

      Really, you'll know her Too? I even thought I was the only one she has helped walk through the fears and falls of NCLEX Exam, Mrs ELISABETH has brought me out of the trenches and to a better living, I encourage repeat test taker to work with her.

    That happens to all of us nurses . It makes you feel bad .. the ONE thing you did wrong but did 99 right . When we are busy and multitasking as a good nurse it’s very difficult.

    When I watch your vlogs and you come out of night shift. Makes me feel tired for you lol. I use to work night shifts (not comparable to a 12hour shift) for 8 hours and wow it takes a toll. I'm very impressed to those who do it whether for their kids and schedule etc 🙌... thanks for sharing your stories! 💗

    My facility is finally going back to pre-covid workflows as of May 1st! It will be so strange to finally not wear a mask. Thank you for being so transparent with your flaws/learning experiences. I have just finished all of my pre-reqs and will be officially starting nursing school next spring. I am doing all that I can to prepare, as I work full-time and have two children 3 and under, as well.

    I’m now a retired Rn , and I worked ER/ICU for over fifteen years on nights. I rarely had time to sit down to eat, and I’ll tell you to do whatever you can to make sure you get your nutrition! Even if you don’t get a full lunch break you can eat when you get a chance,because something is better than nothing.

    I will tell you protect your work and license to make sure every medication, insertion, oxygen addition, and action such as restraints has a order before you chart it. BUT you are learning it took me 10 years as a ICU nurse to say I know what I know and I do not know what I do not know and I am very clear about this. I still learn everyday in my role today. Be safe and learn from what you miss. God bless you

    Good luck on your career. The best advice I can give you is to take care of yourself, especially your back! That’s what caused me to have to retire early.One good way to take care of your back, other than good body mechanics is to buy a new pair of shoes every three months. Make sure they’re ones with good support for posture.

    I've done 7 back to back 12 hour shifts overnight as a factory worker. It's exhausting af. It's mandatory so there's no getting out of it without getting attendance points or using PTO. You're required to work standing at all times three 10 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch. I see people with ace bandages on their hands all the time because of carpal tunnel. Achy hands, feet and knees are common. Even with 20 year olds. It's HELL.

    I’ve been really enjoying your videos. I’m not very familiar with medical procedures but I’m curious about the fact you mentioned that a patient had SVT and had cardioversion done. My son was in the nicu a few years ago and had SVT. Sometimes they could shock him out of it but once they had to do an emergency infusion. It was 2 nurses and they both infused a medicine at the same exact time. It seemed pretty technical. I’ve always wondered what that was or what it was called. Would you happen to have any ideas? Also, I don’t know how you go to the gym after work! I wish I could be that person lol

    If I’m a sitter even if I’m a nurse I was sent to sit not take over care for that patient. you’re technically still responsible for that patient as to provide care. Yeah I can do vitals and change them or whatever but yeah it’s still your patient. Can’t leave the room anyway. Lol

    • @fionaokeefe1906
      @fionaokeefe1906 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A sitter isn’t a nurse! Anyone can apply to be a sitter! You sit by the patient watch over them make sure they’re breathing doing ok through the night! However nurses techs come in and out of a patient’s room constantly so all you’re doing is sitting with a patient just to monitor them if they need anything like water or snacks you can provide that for them but always ask the nurse if it’s ok for the patient to eat and drink cuz sometimes doctors order no food or drink cuz of surgery or something! But in order to be a certified nurse you would need to enroll in a nursing school!

    My record is 90 days in a row with a mixture of 12 and 16 hour shifts… not impressed. I’m former ER nurse, I’m not the record holder in my facility.
