I’m excited and nervous and want to learn as much as I can before school while seeing others experience and perspectives. I did home care 3rd shift 12 hour shifts days in a row. I know that dangerous tired feeling driving home. A couple few things i did to get home on my 30 min drive. About an hour and a half to two hours before shift end i would drink a 1/2 of a bang and a 1/2 a green tea, A/C on, and if i was still “dozing” i pulled over or off the Highway for my safety. The other option is to sleep an hour or more before driving home. I crawled in my backseat of my Jeep Cherokee. Locked the doors and set an alarm on my phone. A warm blanket and travel My Pillow is always in my car. You might be able to sleep at work. Be safe and don’t take chances. You are so important and appreciated.

I also love how touched and empathetic you are when your patients aren't doing well. I've been a nurse for 38 years and started following student nurses at the beginning of the pandemic to see how they were feeling about entering the profession at such a dangerous time. I enjoy your channel and I'm sure you will have a successful career.

Where do you work girl? One patient sounds like a pipe dream to me 🤩 I'm a new grad in a level 1 and have never had one patient, and everyone is always so sick. We usually have 30+ in waiting and 60+ in the department packing the halls all night long. I'll get EMS waiting outside my room while I'm still discharging someone else or come back down from ICU to a new patient from triage and a new ambulance before the room is even clean. I've been assigned to trauma for the past 4 weeks and I'm tired sis. I hate charting traumas, I had 3 last night... stabbings and motorcycle ejection. I'm moving to wherever you are bc I'm tired AF. Also raptors are the best, mine are blue!
It’s awesome that the hospital you work for let’s you wear hoop earrings. I worked at a doctors office before as a nurse and they were so strict.. we could only wear stud earrings (one set) and we’re not allowed to have nail polish/acrylics at all.

When I use to work 13 hour shifts in a lab, on the way home i would eat a snack or drink a sugary drink on the drive home to keep myself awake

it’s all about bacteria getting up under the nails….so nails where I work are kept short no polish has to be your natural nails
