That's absolutely genius! Tip:Hospital type beds offer a huge amount of salvageable items. Steel, 1/4" bolts & t-nuts, jack screws & controls. The foam covered plywood sections make excellent pet beds. I couldn't find a one large enough for my Rottie/mystery giant breed dog. Stapled some canvas drop cloth on and bingo!

When we got our son a new mattress I realized the one we were discarding was 100% layered foam inside. I cut out the most compressed section in the middle and was left with tons of different thicknesses of foam. My brother gets insulin delivered by mail and all the boxes are lined with nice 1” foam that he gives me. Thanks for your tips! I also know more than I would like about bed bugs, having to help with the treatment and cleaning out of a badly infested apartment one time. They are not invisible and invincible. Some basic research and precautions and you should have no worries.

Carry a razor knife (Sharp) with you while looking for sofas and chairs at the road. The back of the sofas and chairs have fabric and plastic covering that Never saw light or damage. They are like NEW. Cut them and bring them home for use. Carry them in sealed garbage bags and inspect for insects later. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS CUT AWAY FROM YOURSELF AND YOU'LL NEVER CUT YOURSELF.

Love your Videos ! But I blanch at the idea of scavenging old upholstered cushions. I've seen too many that are dog, cat, and sweaty man stank, not to mention all the food spills and who did what on that couch ... couches are pretty darn rude before someone finally throws them out - and it's usually because they are too filthy to move to a new house - besides that if they've sat outside for any time at all who's to say what happened to them in the interim. Your other "plans" though are excellent !

Try to find a surplus or overstock store. There is a place here that sells upholstery foam meant for vehicles. Its better quality and a fraction of the price of hobby store foam.

HI, one item. The IKEA pads are Justina and Malinda (not Matilda). Love your videos and not being critical, just thought I would point that out for accuracy.

I did upholstery for 30 years. I bought Joannes foam once lol. A fabric steamer is a great thing to use on any used upholstery before you bring it into your home or shop. Use it before to kill any bugs or germs, vacuum, cover and steam again to iron out and shape foam. Buying in bulk from foam companies or upholstery supply houses like Albany foam was always my best bet. You can cut it with a serrated butcher knife or electric kitchen knife. I buy cheep tools at HF and modify them instead of buying upholstery tools. I save 50$ or more everytime I did! Enjoyed your videos!

Things other than bed bugs to also watch out for in "curb finds"...fleas, animal hair, animal urine, smoke from smokers, "flowery" smell from plug in's or febreeze, lice, and body odor!

Steaming it will kill off any germs. Fabric hand held steamers run about 40$. vacuum then run a laundry detergent and water through it will clean out any oders or dirt. It's alot of work but if you have alot of time and not much money it works out. Idk what I would do without my floor steamer and my hand heald fabric steamer. Especially w covid.

It’s a puzzle to me that DIYers don’t have good access to the liquid that expands to make the foam. You could make your own shapes, use exactly as much as needed, and store the solution until you need foam

One word “bedbugs” better to get new cushions from Home Depot. I bet she gets her towels from the hotel’s she stays at. Lol
