- I'd heard that the wee hill, Preshal Beg, has the best examples of hexagonal basalt columns anywhere in Scotland (with the obvious exception of Staffa). So I nipped down to Talisker and took a walk into the rugged Minginish peninsula to see them for myself, before following the cliff tops all the way back.

I just cant get on board with lava cooling in similar sized haxagonal columns, especially since we never observe it acting this way. I'm also thinking a root system of something petrified.
They almost look man made. Got a few of these on Arthur's Seat here in Edinburgh. 13.15 I started to get vertigo man!
