I'm Trini and had Haitian food for the first time at an event I went to last weekend and have been OBSESSED. I cleared my whole plate and started looking up recipes as soon as I was done and stumbled across your page. It's given me so much good info. So far I've made pickliz, haitian fried chicken + green seasoning. Want to make the macaroni au gratin but used up my peppers so I'll save that for next time
Not to be a Debbie Downer but I thought so as well once, but.......you should make sure your pots are 100% stainless steel. That is for health reasons.
Omg God bless you! This is my second time trying this recipe and it still came out good I had to use cocunt milk from the carton instead of the can because I was out but it was still good! And I used two chili peppers poked them with cloves instead of habanero pepper thank you for teaching me how to cook coming from a Haitian American! 🥰
I have to try this recipe, it's unheard of to use canned beans for Haitian rice but I'm hear for it. Saves time, especially for working moms. Thanks for sharing.
I had left over Epis from marinating my chicken and was wondering what side i could make....im so glad i stumbled across this video because this looks really delicious and I can't wait to make my very first Haitian dinner

I had a Haitian neighbor and I loved her recipes and she loved mine. We would take turns and cook for each other. I really miss her and her Haitian food.
Thank you so much for this video! I love your channel. You cant please all your viewers, so I appreciate when you deliver a variety of techniques for your subbies.
Thanks sooo much for sharing Lamise 🤗 this is definitely a time saver. I had to order the mushroom Maggi from Amazon 👌🏽 I'll definitely be trying this recipe this week 😋
Hi this rice looks so yummy. I'm going to make this to go along with your lemon pepper chicken. Thanks so much!! can you tell me what kind of pot you used please thanks😊😊🖐🏽
I’m not a fan of beans, but the canned beans work better with Haitian rice, 🤫 don’t tell my mom. The canned beans keeps it form, color, texture, adds flavor, and it’s easier to remove, if you’re not a fan of beans, lol.
I have seen this rice multiple times in Jamaican homes, Haitians homes, African homes maaaaaan even Dominican homes Puerto Rican’s homes and so much more. I have friends from so many different countries. My question is....... is this ONLY a Haitian dish ?? Or is this a dish that’s from all around the world??? I just want a better understanding. Btw great video. Definitely going to give it a try.
Haitians never measure the rice or the water. You removed the extra liquid but how did you know how much to remove? Also you say two cups of water for one cup of rice but what about the liquid that's already there from the coconut milk and bean juice? Tèt mwen fè mwen mal la! I feel like I'll never master rice and beans because of that.
Don’t feel bad I’m still trying to get a hang of it myself mine either come out too mushy or not not cooked enough gason ap voye m tounin back to my mom house 😂😂
@@dp923 Je n'ai pas de lien scientifique à vous fournir malheureusement juste l'expérience. Quand j'utilisais du sel de table iodé par exemple, une petite quantité salait rapidement un plat. Can you use Basmati rice?
What brand of jasmine rice you use please?
Does it taste the same with the can beans ?
What was the rice on before you cut it to medium low?
What brand jasmine rice do you use?
Let the oil hot before putting the spice
Do you still leave the heat on med/high while steaming the rice ?
No lower the heat

My problem exactly. When you find out let me know.
I think you’re supposed to pour the rice into the middle of the pot so it makes a little mountain like in the video but doesn’t stick out too much

How can I get some good Haitian pots to get delivered to my home?

What is the rice technique u use?
Haïtien don’t usually We used can beans, it is disappointing, but i guess some feels it’s working for them.
Did you cover the rice the first time letting it cook ?
Just after the water evaporated.
What kind of Jasmine rice do you use please? I know there's like 1,001 different ones
Where do u get the meggie to make it dark er
You can get it on Amazon. Maggie djon-djon is the name
There's no other way but to get the rice in the center, I didn't think there was a technique to it as far I'm concerned
