    for any prospective buyers, the stand is freaking HUGE. I would reccomend going with a monitor stand/mount. They go for like $50 and are absolutely worth it.

      Agree, I've got the 32" variant with the same stand - although very solid, it takes up a fair bit of desk space and pushes the monitor out from the back of my desk further than necessary. Cheapo aftermarket stand for the win.

      I have the MSI alphabet soup monitor. I prefer the msi for Swivel and the led backlight is nice for nighttime ambient light. Fast overdrive on the msi is incredibly good and provides backlight strobing that is ideal at 120 and 165hz also the hdr isn’t bad but by no means great. Also there has been a firmware update for MSI which adds 100% Srgb 100% ARGB 98%D3 and those settings have been calibrated from the factory. Also with the firmware update improved the cheat crosshairs which are a joke in stock form. I hope this helps some.

    It’s amazing sometimes FAST is a good option to use but sometimes bad according to your in depth reviews, and that is a big eye opener. Also, the fact it would be great if manufacturers would pre-calibrate their monitors properly, as that makes the enjoyment experience out of the box ready to go unless makers could include inbuilt within an option menu a calibration screen for grey scales and colour bars to fine tune it instead at home.

    • @LM77va
      @LM77va ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL, You'll pay an additional $50 for them to pre calibrate it. Besides, I guarantee that you'll adjust something because your preference isn't the same as someone else. I find that I rarely agree with what the experts say when it comes to color. I like what I like, so I'll adjust it at home.

    What happened with MSI MAG274QRF-QD? It was removed from graphs and you didnt even mention it as an alternative? I am looking for a 27" 1440p monitor and was between the GP850 and the MSI, leaning a little towards the MSI model according to your previous videos. I've been watching some monitor reviews the past days and I'm still confused regarding colour gamut. From what I understand most applications which aren't content creation only use the standard sRGB colour range, correct? So is there any use for a high gamut monitor in everyday browsing and gaming or does it make more sense to buy a monitor based on the quality of the included SDR mode? I remember that some monitors lock down almost all settings in this mode while others can be configured more freely.

    • @Nikelangelo
      @Nikelangelo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes the sRGB mode is one of the most important things if you do value accurate colours for gaming or any other content consumption. You can get around it with ICC profiles and using borderless window modes but yeah, fullscreen exclusive is almost always the preferable option. So I guess having crappy sRGB mode doesn't really matter if you primarily play competitive / e-sports or if you simply like the more contrasty oversatured look of content, it's especially becoming more important now as even average screens have pretty high gamut.

      While @bananya is right, that vid he is speaking of is more of an overview. The problem is that monitor HW calibration falls into two separate fields (manual + MK I eyeball vs hardware assisted).
      You can use EIZO monitor test and MK I eyeball (those differ frrom person to person) to tame cheap displays and horrible factory settings to OK settings for everyday use by Joe Avg, that 's still a far cry from a proper HW calibrration. Looks nice ≠ accurate.
      And hardware calibration is a can of worms in itself. Different hardware devices and different software probably also will differ.
      Personally I ve a Datacolor Spyder 5 (device that cost me 130€ used with a full licence) and I could clearly see the difference in the 3 monitors I used it so far between factory (usually utter garbage - oversatured, especially skin tones - Trumps everywhere - or cold blue picture). The difference between my manual calibration and the HW assisted was much less, though notable .
      And than comes the problem with variantion between individual units ... sadly there isn't any decent test/review in that field.

    How many variants of the same panel do they wanna do? I got them all, and to be honest the oldest one (GL850) still has the best anti-glare coating (good reduction of reflections, whilst not making the image grainy) and otherwise absolutely identical behavior, except for the few hz overclocked refresh rate, where 144 is really enough already.

      I recently (early September) bought a 2nd GL850 on sale and was shocked at how poor the factory color calibration was, it has an extreme yellow tint and overall dullness compared to the GL850 I bought in 2019 when it was new. I guess I got what I payed for since it was on sale for under 350 USD.

    One thing practically all these reviews miss is the variable refresh rate min threshold. True G-sync is 1-max Hz. G-sync compatible usually varies from 30-60 Hz. This one is 60 hz. You generally want that to be as low as possible.

    Picked up this monitor on sale for $229 USD. Compared to other offerings in my budget (sub $300), this seemed like the best option.
    While I do typically play games in darker settings, I haven't really noticed the low contrast being an issue. It's possible that later units are hitting better contrast numbers. However, I do primarily use to play FPS titles like R6 Siege or Valorant, making the response times perfect for this.

    The worst thing is that it seems there is quite a variance in quality of those displays. On some reviews the contrast is even around ~750:1 which is really terrible.
    M27Q is already a very capable and fast monitor that has amazing color range and in which you can correct gamma. Also it completely crushes this LG in contrast while being cheaper.
    I doubt that the parts in which LG wins are actually noticable in day-to-day usage, even in competitive gaming as M27Q is already really damn good.
    Blurriness of text can be the issue for some people but in my case i got used to it very quickly, even if ClearType doesn't work in Chrome.

    • @moldyshishkabob
      @moldyshishkabob 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As an M27Q owner, I'm a bit biased, but I absolutely would agree. Minor tweaks in performance and extra bells and whistles, however good they may be, don't make up for such aggressive pricing. I think the LG 27GP83B is solid price-performance... but the M27Q passes the standard for "monitor specs worth buying" at such a low price, there's just not much of a contest.
      I'll get hype when something gets even better price-perf than Gigabyte's M lineup

Hell, even after i accidently killed my reference R9 290 and they sent me a Windforce instead when i RMAd it, it still works to this day. Also regarding M27Q i don't really see any cut corners to be honest.
      Even the stand is very solid and not wobbly at all. Remember previous bargain leader AOC Q3279VWFD8? The display itself was really good for the money but everything else was terrible.
      In case of M27Q you even get KVM that actually works really well.
      But i would definitely never get a PSU from them, that 750W fiasco was absolutely terrible. Good thing that monitors will not explode if they are bad :D

    • @moldyshishkabob
      @moldyshishkabob 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rayquazahere8529 I've heard the same, and, trust me, it's likely we _all_ know about the Gigabyte PSU debacle from the past few months.
      However, there's always the one trapping: there are no "good companies" or "bad companies", only "good products" or "bad products".
      Gigabyte may generally have more "bad products" or Seasonic may generally have only "good products", but don't mistake that as them being a "bad company" or "good company".
      Think of Gigabyte however you will (I agree, even!), but in terms of the M27Q as a _product,_ I have absolutely no issues. Only issues I've heard relates to those who are affected by it being a BGR panel instead of RGB, but I saw no difference when reading text.
