    Yes brother, more annoying sound was coming from my black max while pulling .5kg snakehead yesterday. Very nice video brother. Keep it up

      Then just tighten the drag all the way. See what will happen to your rod though 😁

    Great video!!!!! I have a Shimano 10000 xsc for carp fishing, and I had the same trouble. Once upon a time I changed my drags for 100% carbon drags bought from Australia (made in USA). I feel the difference. Really my reel is too much better!!

    I have a question this is super old video . But I bought the upgrade drag washers while re assembling I noticed I can’t seem to get on of the bearings to go back how it originally does any thoughts? It’s the bearing that the shaft goes through in the housing

    • @reelyology
      @reelyology  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you're referring to the one way bearing also called anti reverse bearing, which the drive shaft passes thru. Not sure what you meant, maybe the reel is reversing now, post-job? You're welcome to drop me a message via FB Page Reelyology Reel Workshop

    I have Shimano 5500 XTD's and switched orginals for carbon washers. But somehow the reel runs less smooth in the drag then with the original? It's hard to find the 'sweet spot' while playing a fish...Any solutions to this?

      Can you send me some photos of the spool, the drag housing chamber, the drag washers and drag plates? My email is reelyology@gmail.com

    What about the Shimano stradic 2500 ? Will they work on those ?

    • @reelyology
      @reelyology  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carbontex would be significantly better with 3-washer stack as opposed to single-washer stack. Some Shimano 2500 size have single-stack while others may have 3-washer stack. I usually replace the single-stack with Carbontex when they're thinned or starting to jerk/stutter

    Do you use light grease on them or dry fit?
    Thank you and just curious.

      Here in Malaysia we do a lot of saltwater fishing, so I always pair Carbontex washers with Cal's Drag Grease. Even if you do freshwater fishing exclusively, the drag grease helps prolong the washer's life and stabilize the drag output.

    I've heard that carbon drag washers can also increase the drag,is this true?

    • @reelyology
      @reelyology  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In general Carbontex do give among the best in terms of drag power compared with other materials such as felt, teflon and solid graphite. Some reels will react positively, some neutral, some negatively. A lot more variables come in play when we look at reel by reel basis.

  • @nateriver6269

    Any idea how to significantly increase drag?

    • @reelyology
      @reelyology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really depends on the reel itself. It's not magical work, rather dependent on the drag stack design and physical components of the reel

      Oh dont bother about it,if u wanna improve it,just put ur hands up on to the spoon maybe it could be 50kg drag

      @@baohung1094 I know that's an exaggeration but I'm still gonna say no thumb would be capable of producing 50kg tension on the line

      Ps: I know very well when you mention 50kg it is an exaggeration, but if you wanna make your point, I'm all eyes and ears

    Do "how to" instructions come with the washers?

    • @reelyology
      @reelyology  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No they don't come with instructions 😁 but I know there are plenty videos around TH-cam which would be able to guide you. Just make sure you use the right tools and suitable drag grease to use with the drag washers.

      @@reelyology Thank you for your reply. I found a schematic on a website selling carbontex washer's. Between that and my Pro Qualifier schematics I feel like I can make the upgrade. I'll look for more videos.

      @@reelyology If you don't mind one more question, what tools are you talking about? I have a tool box of small screwdrivers, micro wrenches, etc. These are the tools that I use when I do my twice a years preventative maintenance on my reels. Am I missing something? I use Lucas reel oil and grease. I notice that there is specific drag grease I'll need to order.

    • @reelyology
      @reelyology  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TN-Vols-Fan you sound like you have the right tools. While the tools are simple, they just have to be the right size and used properly. I only reminded as a general advice since many end up with damaged screw heads etc. Though Carbontex can be installed dry, I find that Cal's Drag Grease is a good compliment against corrosion and wear.
