I always tell the story of watching “Saving Private Ryan” in the theater, the day it came out. It was sold out and there were many veterans. After the landing on Omaha beach scene, a few walked out. When the movie ended, no one moved; you could hear a ping drop actually. All you could barely hear was these men crying very quietly. After a while, the lights finally were turned on and people started to, very slowly and quietly, walk out of the theater, as if it was a funeral. It’s the only time I have felt a sensation of solemnity in a movie theater. It was very moving.

Having served in the army as infantryman, been to Iraq, I cannot watch these movies. No matter how hard they try to make it accurate, they will always be off and unrealistic.
Hollywood does that on purpose iirc. The movies are meant to be entertaining and not trauma inducing. Take Lone Survivor for example. That movie had so many SEALs advising... you think if they wanted the actual sound of incoming fire those SEALs couldn't make it happen? This same director worked on Civil War where they purposefully made the gun shots extremely realistic and it freaked people out.
I'd rather it be realistic instead of the absolute crap that has come out about the most recent wars. Hurt Locker was absolute garbage but won tons of awards.

We served so that you have the freedom to voice your much needed respect and support... or express your disagreement and disdain. My point is that, for those who weren't in that theatre, a two dimensional audio/visual experience helps you understand the sacrifice. To my brothers in arms (past/present) hope you are doing okay. Back in 2003, I arrived in theatre a couple days after “Shock and Awe” with my recon unit (46 ERS). The shit I saw from the drone feed was wild back then. However, nothing compared to how much worse the hostilities became in 2005-2007. This will stir the memories for many.
Almost went to Iraq or Afghanistan. I was in the pipeline, as I started training in 2005. Got very sick while in training and came home. If I hadn't gotten sick I could have been an E7 or something of the sort right about now. Either that or I would have been paralyzed or dead.
They should have got better advisors. The worse years were 2003-2005. We had no armor, the attacks were worse, with no front line. I was there for both tours.

This looks amazing. So many war movies are made with low budgets and while the production team does the best they can, it's usually filmed in Southern California in one of those fake towns and that just kills it for me. This looks so professionally done. Excited to see this.
Australia used the M113 with a Saladin turret as an FSV in Vietnam. Later they used the Scorpion turret. However, the hull of this vehicle is not the 113. It is the GKN Sankey FV432, the UK equivilent of the M113. The 432 did have a version with the Fox turret which I am guessing is the thing we see here. The correct designation is 'FV432/30'.
Built by GKN Sankey, the FV432 was an armoured personnel carrier which entered British Army service in 1963. Carrying a crew of two and up to ten troops, it had a maximum speed of 32mph and a range of 360 miles. When I heard "Scouts will lead us out" I was in Ft Knox OSUT training for 19 D Scout April 2004 graduated Aug 2004 ended up in Germany for station I came back to Montana and talked to a guy that was from my same town in Montana who also was in the same cycle as me in Ft Knox named Myers he told me several guys that I knew from Knox were wounded in Iraq I wonder if those same guys are what this movie is based on.
