Some cops can be dicks, yeah, but it's understandable. I work security and deal with a fraction of the people cops would deal and I'm frankly disgusted with most people in the area. Nowadays, with younger men see this and choose to become officers because now a lot of people feel they can do better. The justice system is slowly being reformed as a whole, in some places for the better and others for the worse. But ultimately more new cops with more education are becoming the norm fortunately.

The US is huge and there’s a large number of cops, most of which do their job fine. I think it is the fact that the media only shows the bad stuff that makes everyone think that US cops are a**holes. But you’ve definitely raised a great point, they could’ve spent longer negotiating but if it only agitated the subject and then they became violent, with the TRE not having opened those lines of sight there* would’ve been greater threat for all involved.

I gotta say mad respect to these cops and the SWAT team for waiting this long and being so patient with him and understanding the state he’s in, you don’t see this a lot in America now, you see a lot of cops abusing their power and using every opportunity they can to be violent. The cops went above and beyond to not only make sure he’s safe but the community is safe too. Not trying to justify the suspects threats to his neighbors, just wanting to praise these cops for being real men and handling this situation in the most civil and mature way possible. ❤️ I hope Ty gets better
I dont think the statement that “a lot of cops abuse their power and using every opportunity they can to be violent” is necessarily true. The US is huge and there’s a large number of cops, most of which do their job fine. I think it is the fact that the media only shows the bad stuff that makes everyone think that US cops are a**holes. Cuz yk a cop doing something bad sparks outrage and outrage brings views which in turn bring money. If they’d show good stuff not that many people would watch unfortuntely.
Im not american so this is my outside view and just my opinion. But this is what media does. Even in my home country you mostly see news about situations where the police was incompetent but rarely news about when they did something right.

I was just speaking from my personal experience, with them my friends and what I’ve also seen on social media. So data wise you’re right there’s no way to logically justify that comment. Hmm maybe they differ in methods but both has purpose for the greater good. Breaking down the house can also have psychological effects, and the negotiator is there to make sure Anh doesn't kill himself.
They walk a fine line, often negotiators and TRE will disagree over a situation just look at Waco for an example, but in this case subject clearly wasn’t highly responsive to negotiation and was pushing towards the “ima kms” route anyway, it was likely done for officer safety but also the subjects as it allowed greater control for TRE from an exterior position.
But you’ve definitely raised a great point, they could’ve spent longer negotiating but if it only agitated the subject and then they became violent, with the TRE not having opened those lines of sight there* would’ve been greater threat for all involved.
