Today's video is deep and personal on many levels. This has been the hardest year of my life. It felt like I just jumped from disaster to another while barely surviving. It has been visually obvious to many long time viewers too. I talk about the home break in, my Dad's botched surgery, quitting Infinite Warfare, losing all my money, getting sucked into conspiracy theories, and all sorts of other crazy stuff. It has been rough, and hopefully by sharing my struggles, you can overcome your own.

Long time fan. To be honest I always thought your best content was when you went off topic. Your blog stuff, family stories and social commentaries were my most favorite. I never forgot your theory video on how to destroy the evil mirror from that dumb movie, it is probably my most favorite video on your whole damn channel. Dude I respect you as a person, not just your channel. I've been lurking here since your MW2 videos for almost 10 years now. I can't blame ya. I've seen the way CoD has gone and every new game I would think of you honestly even if I would just tune in to every other video. I've watched your channel grow and seen you as a person do what you enjoyed, and when the game got worst, I honestly wondered what you were gonna do. On top of this whole adpocolypse deal, how you are managing it is mind boggling. What I can honestly say is to maybe separate yourself from the whole CoD thing? You aren't a CoD gamer anymore, your a gamer in general. It will allow you to do what you want instead if being tagged as a CoD gamer which is now seen so badly by the gaming community. As a successful person who's very positive in general myself, I know what you feel. This year (just like in your case, entire 2017 plus late 2016) has been extremely difficult for me and my wife due to a cancer diagnosis. Life's a struggle no matter how successful and lucky we think we are, but we soldier on buddy! Be strong, and you will come up on top again. On a different note - love your channel, specifically all your BO3 videos throughout the last 2 years.

I quit CoD back in Advanced Warfare and recently came back because BOCW looked pretty fun, and the first thing I looked up on youtube was your channel and I was so happy to see that you were still making quality videos/commentaries. I watched your video in quitting Zoloft but damn, I didn't know it would escalate that bad. It's alright that you've ranted out, this way you've got a clearer mind about all this and you haven't bottled it in. I'm not in a position to relate, because I haven't been in so much of a struggle yet, but I respect that you've pulled out of your troubles (I really hope you have) and yes, maybe these experiences will shape you up and make you take better decisions in the future. Know that we're here to support you, and that we respect you and your ideas. Most of us hated infinite warfare, so didn't really care about the absence of IW videos, it's just that those who did were very vocal about it. I personally like the overwatch and PUBG series, and those two games show how multiplayer is done right, and how games in general are done right (of course not only those two). I wouldn't mind personally if you strafed away from COD as a franchise itself, the formula is becoming obsolete anyway. I personally preferred to watch your non-cod based videos over the past few months, because of me just feeling like cod is done with, and I still feel so. I hope your dad recovered from his pains as well and that he doesn't have to undergo any extra surgeries.
Well, maybe with the hardships of last year giving you a hit in the balls(literally and figuratively ), maybe even the slightest of excitement next year may make you appreciate it so much more. ;)

I get some of the hate for IW, but the supply drop system is something they handled well. Swapping from BO3, which was impossible to get weapons without serious luck, to IW wasn't even close.
Regardless, I'm sorry to hear about the medication issue and genuinely shitty year. It's no joke and can wreck a strong person in ways you'd never imagine. Hope it turns around for you.
You'll probably never read this, but this is why I stopped watching your videos. The fact that my favorite COD TH-camr stopped covering my favorite COD game felt like a dagger. It's been 5 years now, and clearly you've recovered, but I moved onto other TH-camrs. Thanks for the memories.

I haven't played CoD in roughly 2 years. I still watch every single one of your videos. I didn't subscribe to you for in-depth, or CoD content. I subscribed to you because of you. People just think of TH-camrs as machines that just pump out content and don't fully see you as an actual person who dedicates so much time and energy to upload content, they don't feel how you feel when you upload content and they don't deal with all the bullshit that you have to deal with every minute with so many people being so god damn negative just because you are doing what is best for you.
I seldom comment on YT videos, but when I do it's to throw my support behind one of the realest people making quality content for countless communities. Drift0r, I appreciate your candidness and honesty.

Hey Drift, I've been around a touch; I have watched your vids since ~2011 with your BF3 vids. I got off cod for a very long time so I stopped watching your CoD in-depth videos, but I've been enjoying the new content with PUBG as well as other previous miscellany. You're a good guy that makes quality content. All I got to say is I hope that your health stays good, the views come in, and to not sweat the angry folks. Anyways, just a youtube comment but know that there is a fanbase that supports you and your approach.

If it's not fun to you, don't play it-but pls try it. You might like it and there are a lot of people out there who would watch it. Even though you probably don't know me it seems as if through watching you these years I've gotten to know you and it honestly hits close to home with your experiences with drugs and all the problems associated with them. My grandmother is all kinds of fucked from medications trying to put a bandaid on years of problems (becoming a paraplegic, diabetes, gain of massive amounts of weight, pain, anxiety and more) along with trying to fix the problems that the mixing of medications has brought upon her. Due to this, the grandmother that helped raise me is not the same one that I see today, needing almost 24 hour 'round the clock care to allow her to even function (not to mention needing people to talk to constantly to deal with her anxiety). Even though in my heart of hearts I know this isn't truly her, my family (that undoubtedly has to deal with her more) have completely changed the way they view her which kinda of hurts to see. I hope people close to you really know that you enduring the withdrawal from Zoloft wasn't your true persona and you hadn't all of a sudden changed.
As you said at the end of the video, things will get better with the lessening of the symptoms of withdrawal, so you've got that going for you. I think with COD WW2 you'll have a more successful time making content and enjoying the actual game. Lastly, regarding your status within the community, I know it's easy to say from my point of view but you can only change what is within your grasp. In my opinion (take it as you will), I'd try to put more of my focus on what I can change and have influence over. People will believe what they want to believe without substantiated evidence to back it up, it's just how things are, people are not rational.
All in all, I hope nothing but the best for you.
I feel that zoloft struggle. I almost lost the vision in my right eye because of it. There was an abnormality in between my eye and the front of my brain. This was 18 years ago and I'm doing fine. I was also on aderall and abilify and insurance dropped me at 21 and to this day I'll still wake up 3 hours into my sleep completely wired chewing on the inside of my my mouth and shaking wanting nothing more but to kill myself because I just couldn't handle it. I'm going strong and my life is so much better now. Driftor keep on it man I have faith in you :)

You're one of the most human and rounded TH-camrs that I've seen. From Ghost Stories to In Depth, I've been hooked. The IW decision you made is respectable as hell because you stood your ground and stood by your morals. Your credibility is in your integrity and impartiality.
If anyone turned against you they werent true fans and were just here for the info. Most of us respected your decision and some actually agreed with you. The minority is usually the most vocal. Like you said, if you dislike a game you shouldnt have to subject yourself to playing it because you feel you have to.

Been a fan since "If it Were Realistic" days. I haven't kept up with CoD in years, but I still check in on the channel for your philosophy and real world event commentaries. We definitely don't agree on everything, but listening to your struggles and history through the years has kept me sane through more than a few bad times. Keep fighting, man. God looks after his flock.

I've recently been tapering down meds I've been taking for over 8 years and it's been a very similar experience.. very hard to describe but appreciate hearing your frank and honest account. It shows one isn't alone at a time like this.. and there is always light at the end of the tunnel! Great vid

I really don't think playing IW would have made the year much better financially. COD did incredibly poorly this year, so a COD channel is expected to suffer. Not your fault.

I just want to throw this out there. I've watched your videos for a while, everything from the vampire dream series to CoD in-depth, and it's meant a lot to me. At times when the world didn't make any sense, and when I felt like I had nothing and no one. They were always there, a familiar voice that did make sense. Whose opinions were grounded and relatable. You as a person as well. Hearing some of the things you dealt with as a kid (which I am), and seeing that you can fight through it and still build a happy successful life with some one you love by your side. I know this will sound odd coming from a TH-cam comment, but you and your content have done more than I can say. It gave me something to stand on when I couldn't find a reason to stay. So if nothing else thank you for that.
I feel ya Drift. We've had many similar problems. 2015 was my worst year, but 2017 has been the best. Just like in COD, some give up when in a sucky lobby, but others knuckle down and go for the win. I know, like me, you do the latter so keep it up and stay positive. You've got my respect and support.
