- Baltany Watches had a great 2022 but they are back with some new releases for 2023!
This is the new Baltany Quartz Bubbleback with a thinner case and even better looks :)

I'm nitpicking, but if the lugs would point down, the watch would sit flush on the arm instead of floating above. And a lug width of 20mm (like on the Explorer 1016) would provide a better ratio of lug to case width.
? The watch doesn't float and the lugs do turn down. Can't possibly not sit flush with such a short lug to lug of 44mm???
@@johnswatchjoint If i put a watch on a flat surface, like a table, ideally the lug tips should touch the surface, that is also valid (at least for me) with a short lug to lug. At minute 5:48 to 5:52 it is, to my eye, floating on the left side, and at 8:55, where you show the side profile, it looks like the back portrudes quite some. I know, its a bubbleback, its supposed to portrude 😃

Looks good and I agree it needs the nice logo on the crown, in fact it need to be on all the range.
Brushed caseback would be good also.

If i had to pick my problem that would be the height. This watch is only 36mm case, it uses the quartz movement. Why it needs to be 12.5 mm? It should be 9.5mm.

Beautiful watch. I got one with the automatic movement. It's absolutely beautiful but sadly it's running 5-10 minutes slow per day. So I'm really contemplating buying a quart one.
If it is running that slow you should return it

Money back no problem. Never ever accept no reply. I see this all the time . If the supplier does not reply and you tell AliExpress exactly what happened you will keep the watch and get full refund.
Very nice watch, Baltany are so good at what they are doing. It's one of the few Chinese brands where nobody seems to have an issue with the branding. They're also one of the few brands that have the hang of doing faux patina at all because most brands just overdo it. Only the plain polished caseback, not only is it an eyesore, in my experience, they also tend to stick to the wrist.
Hey buddy. I don't mind the case back because I will get it engraved...but in Scotland it won't stick to my wrist in summer...it will stick to it in winter haha! 🤣

Great looking watch, just a bit small for me at 36mm. I have a Baltany vintage chrono with a 39mm width which is at the limit for me. A 39-40mm and I might just be reaching for my credit card again!
Ah well. Still, good to ogle. The Chrono is also a cracker. Reviewed it a while back.
The statement "great little watch" is accurate, and that's why this is a "no go" for me. Too small. I'd like it to be at least 40mm. Maybe could live with 39mm, but any smaller, no dice. Just not looking to go that small. I own a Seiko that is around 40 years old now, and it is small, but I wear it on a bund strap, so it makes its overall presence on the wrist larger. But I agree with your review of the watch, not perfect, but darned good!

I wish Baltany would offer a 'Field' variation of their 'Military Style Chronograph' (S205033) by removing the chronograph functions and associated sub-dials, but keeping a brushed case, 100M water resistance, existing hands and dial design, but adding '12' and '6' markers (or add a date window) and use a Seiko VH31 movement. Their 'Khaki Field' and 'D12" are close, but the wider hands and subtle differences of the dial on their 'Military Style Chronograph' (S205033) model look nicer.
You could message them direct. They do listen to their customers?
@@johnswatchjoint I sent them a message. I would have thought such a design would come out before a chronograph variation. It would be interesting to get an explanation why buyers bought the S205033. Was it primarily on design or chronograph functionality? If only Baltany (in this particular instance) would disregard any possible backlash of repeating an existing design, since many might find a chronograph function of little use -- over having a nice looking, legible watch on their wrist.
Of the chinese microbrands Baltany is probably the most interesting. It does true homages instead of "branded copies". I'm currently considering their quartz vintage chrono.

Are there any versions of this watch with an automatic movement?
If you look at their website you will see the range of Bubblebacks from last year. They were thicker as mentioned and you get a choice of dials and automatic movements.
I’m not against quartz but it dosent seem to fit vintage styled watch
