I really enjoyed the conversation at the 20 minute mark. Asking for the samples, that amusing snippet of music history, the one about reggae guys washing off labels. About knowing too much might take away the magic from the music, Kevin Parker in an interview has said that his dad tried to deter him from becoming a musician, lest the magic of the music would disappear. Kevin said it didn't lose its magic, but it "evolves and changes form".
That part was interesting for me too. I started really getting into Hip-Hop probably around ten years ago. Being I was into it then I sort of found it easier to come into the knowledge of what samples were used on classic records. With that knowledge I made a conscious effort to not have overly obvious samples. So the Rap Genius and Who Sampled type of sites really do have an effect on the culture.
+LoomingOkinawa it doesnt mean that the music evolves and changes for the worse just cause you have more knowledge about the work behind it. In fact I believe the opposite
Is this interview cut short or something, because I kept waiting to hear clips from his new albums and they just never came. Great interview though love everything Apathy has put out and am happy to here there is no shortage in supply.
+xMsry7 Talent doesn't equal skill. I don't personally know Apathy's work so I couldn't say how he stands against everyone. But I can say that out of the Rap artists that get mainstream radio play that Kendrick is far an away better than more than 90% of them.
36:00 I was actually a part of that convo! I wasn't arguing with Ap though, some other douche was trying to act like he knew everything. I tried explaining the logic to Apathy
Yo Fantano, think you should take a look at Washer's debut that came out this month on Exploding in Sound Records (same label as Big Ups, Pile etc). Pretty sure you'd be feeling it
Dude, that's fucking real! With super low bit rates you can definitely hear something kinda off. But once yiu get up to a certain threshold going higher doesn't make a big difference. I don't get a ton of feedback on my own music but I never hwar complaints when a primary sample I used was off of the TH-cam video rather than the actual MP3 or something.
20:15 When I wanna know a sample, it isn't because I want to chop it myself, it's because I want to hear what the artist was inspired by. I don't know. Maybe I'm just weird. No disrespect to the artist. I understand sampling is enjoyed for its obscurity; you actually have to listen to music to know how to sample.
+KingGeedorah72 He never said that... Nas hasn't been putting anything out lately, so he means that Your Old Droog is putting out dope music, while Nas hasn put out nothing
Damn, wasn't expecting to see Apathy on this channel! Big fan!
I'm a Huge Apathy Fan. Dude is on a whole other Level Lyrically. Probably the best Emcee out now.
Apathy is dope! Love that Eastern Philosophy album.
Underground classic.
Ant, you surprised me with this one. But I suppose it was a matter of time because of your vicinity.
MisanthropikOne Aye found the man
Apathy and Celph Titled are very fuckin talented
"w/rapper and producer Apathy" I'm sorry... WHAT
Wasn't ready for this
Love Ap. Thanks for this, Armthony of the Phartano.

Apathy, Ryu, Mike Shinoda, Celph Titled, Get Busy Committee, Scoop Deville
apathy is dope as fuck
Apathy is my 2nd favorite rapper, most talented out right now though
Hardly, when Kendrick has managed to reach legend status in basically 5 years with just 3 major projects
***** so has Lil B and young thug in the mainstreams eyes
***** Tech N9ne, hes more personable then Apathy but I feel ap is more talented lyricaly
+xMsry7 Talent doesn't equal skill.

Apathy is good, I'll have to listen to this later but I can't wait.
Would an interview with Doug Walker aka The Nostalgia Critic be possible at some point? That would be interesting as fuck, to say the least.
36:00 I was actually a part of that convo! I wasn't arguing with Ap though, some other douche was trying to act like he knew everything. I tried explaining the logic to Apathy
Top 3 for me, AP is a damn beast.
The 👽👅 is in my top three emcees list . *"Naturally Nasty"*
Who are your other two emcees ?
How you gonna interview him and ask about upcoming releases and not review the Handshakes with Snakes, especially considering how good it was
When I'm older I want to be just like Antwan Fantwan x
Thank you for this! Awesome Conversation. More Stuff like this please!
apathy is cool. looking forward to the albums.
On 1:30 I start thinking of that you must record a rap-LP, Anpany.

Yo Fantano, think you should take a look at Washer's debut that came out this month on Exploding in Sound Records (same label as Big Ups, Pile etc). Pretty sure you'd be feeling it

asking what someone sampled is bad etiquette? sounds like the reaction of someone who is insecure about their art.
