I'll always have a special place in my heart for popups. Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for watching and commenting. Safe travels and great adventures in your popup!

That's awesome. Glad you liked the FR pop-ups and you're starting to feel some summer vibes! 🌞 Sending warm weather and sunshine your way. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting, we appreciate your support!
Instead of the bench seats, I wish they would make modular storage bins or mini cabinets that can be set on top of a long counter and stored down on the floor for travel. You really only need the two pull out beds and the dinettes for sleeping. I guess those modifications can be made after purchase. As for the stove, we always prefer to cook outside and would rarely use the stove inside the camper. 2 burner stove is plenty. I'd only boil eggs, cook oatmeal, or other low-odor food item inside the camper. Inside potty is a must-have! Shower is a bonus for just a quick clean up or rinse off. For full hot showers, we usually use the bath houses. We are a small family - 3. A pop up would be perfect. I like the Rockwood HW296 kitchen layout but don't need a pull out dinette.
These are all great points. We also try to do our cooking outside, leaving inside cooking for less odor and messy foods. Forest River probably has a floor plan similar to the HW296 without the slide out dinette. I (Susan) loved my Popup when my kids were little. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting.
I would love to have that demonstrated for us too. Two beds and a dinette sounds like a lot of work. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting!
We had the Rockwood HW296 and it was great in the mountain air for 5 years until it fell apart while driving 70 mph when heavy rain destroyed it. The roof is made of particle board and the clamps tore off it. The other downside is it takes an hour to setup and another 90 minutes to break camp.
Lot's of folks have popup campers and love them. They are perfect for spring summer na dearly fall and easy to tow. Thanks for watching and for your comment. Mike
I owned a pop up and I loved it. The first one you showed with a bathroom is the best, I don’t cook or bake in my camper. But one thing did any of them come with an awning? How did you get rid of the waste from the bathroom?
I (Susan) also loved my Pop Up camper. These campers do come with an awning. I know manufacturer consider these as optional but all dealerships order RVs with awnings these days. The shower water will go in to the same grey tank as the kitchen sink. The toilet is a cassette toilet. There is an opening on the outside of the camper where you slide out the cassette and dump it at the campground toilet, at your sewer on your campsite or a dump station at the campground. Hope that helped answer your question. Thank you...we appreciate you watching our RV tour video and commenting!
Can you do a video the pros, cons, and different types of ATC trailers? I've seen them at the Tampa RV show the last couple of years. An all aluminum trailer is very intriguing. Thanks for all your videos...I've learned alot
I am thinking of retrofitting my 1986 Coleman Pop-Up Trailer, making one of the bench seating sides a toilet, and shower, just like the one you showed. I am familiar with the Blue liquid in those toilets, but is the one you showed removed like a bucket, dumped, then re-loaded?
It's called a cassette toilet and you pull the cassette and empty it in a bathroom toilet or I suppose you could dump it down the sewer pipe at your camp site too. Thanks for watching and keep us posted on your Popup remodel! Mike

No. The canvas sides are waterproof but if you have a tear in the fabric or opening somewhere within the walls you will get a leak. And you should never close your Pop Up camper while it is wet. I (Susan) owned one years ago. If our canvas was wet at the end of the camping trip we would open it the next sunny day to dry it so it didn't get moldy. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!
@@RVBlogger Sounds reasonable. I can't imagine there's any way to insulate canvas. You'd need a down sleeping bag if you want to use one of these in cold weather, I'd assume.
That second pop up had a propane tank on its side under the couch. I thought propane tanks were not suppose to lay on their side according to Todd at NRVTA?
Hmmm...I'll have to research that. But Todd is usually right! Will you be at the Tampa Show? Please say hi if you see us there! Thanks for watching! Mike
The part I hate about most of these campers is they worry too much about how many they fit. If you got kids then have them fend for themselves in a tent. I hate the bench seat on the table that converts into another bed. I would only have the bed on one end, give the kids a tent, and put the table and chairs outside under the awning. You could even have the back be lower and fold out a toilet/shower like at 18 minutes. This would give you FAR more room and make it much more comfortable and even allow a bigger refrigerator and a small stove with an oven. This would allow you many amenities that normally you could not fit in a smaller pop-up camper. Put some solar panels and StarLink on top and mount some E-bikes on the back.

Susan used to own a popup camper and she can't think of any scenario where you would be able to switch the beds...great question though. Thanks for watching! Mike
There's a new one out now called " Off The Ground" (OTG). I'm not sure if Flagstaff is the parent company, or someone else. They have one model that's just a pop up roof, no slide outs. Have you seen this one? It's exactly what I'm looking g for, but not much info out there yet.
I've not heard of that camper floor plan. I have heard of Trailmanor. It lifts up without the canvas sides. I'll be on the look out for OTG, thanks! And thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting!
Yes, it's a really, really, really, nice tent...on wheels no less. Buy used save thousands. They usually have a outdoor shower too. The cassette toilet......that would probably NEVER be used. Remember it's camping, you spend way more time outside than inside. Thinking a few of you have never spent the night outside on a cot by the fire. Life changing...if you survive.
Very dramatic David. Great tip about buying used, we also always recommend that. Many of the RVs in our tour videos can be found in the used market. I think you are wrong; however, about the cassette toilet 😂. Remember, everyone camps differently. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!
If you have IBS, having a toilet is crucial. The shower is not so much as you can take outside with the hookup. But having IBS while traveling is no fun, so having a toilet always accessible to you is well worth it, in my opinion (speaking from someone who has severe IBS and gastrointestinal needs).
I've done that! But an RV is way more comfy and convenient...these are MSRP prices which oyu should never pay by the way. Always negotiate or buy used and save a bunch of money. Thanks for watching! Mike
The Rockwood is a pretty awesome floor plan. Remember these prices are negotiable. I think dealerships are highly motivated today. And don't forget to check the used RV market...just get it inspected first. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!
WAY too expensive for a pop up... Just get a regular RV (size of your choice) with much better features (actual frig/freezer, actual bathroom that's NOT a wet bath and actual cabinets) for a heck of a lot less in price
That's great unless your tow capacity is low. Besides that, dollar to dollar and space to space, the pop ups are less money. Besides, I prefer the pop up for it's openness.
It is true the MSRP of RVs these days are still a bit too high but I'm pretty sure there is more than $2,000 worth of building materials that going into constructing a Popup camper. And of course no pays MSRP...I hope. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting.
We always encourage people to look a the resale market. We bought our first motorhome from Facebook Marketplace. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!
🤣 Fortunately you can unzip the canvas windows for a cross breeze...🤣 Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!
Of course it is...but is it? You can buy a brand new 2024 for the price of a used RV if you play your cards right. All the 2025s are rolling in and there are tons of 2024s still on the dealer lots. So you can negotiate a great deal (like 40 to 50 % off) and get a new RV for a used price! Thanks for watching and Happy New Year! Mike
Are you referring to the size of the jack knife sofa? Not sure why that is an issue. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!
@@RVBlogger lol idk why they would make such a small bed. I get it works for small kids but I think it’s just a huuuge waste of the creators time and the buyers money because when their kids get older they will have to trash then popup
@@JUDGEME5150 It has the sleeping capacity of 6 (not including the sofa) There are two pop out beds plus the dinette for sleeping capacity. There probably isn't even the need for sleeping on the sofa...but if you did need it is available. I wouldn't call the Rockwood HW296 a joke because of a small jack knife sofa.
I'm not really sure I understand your comment. Why all the periods? Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!
These are not at all nice looking popups and there is nothing special about them to justify the high price. I can get a better travel trailer for the same or less money. What a ripoff people! Shop around you could do better.
I don't think Pop Ups are created to be "cheaper" alternatives to travel trailers. Granted they appear less of a camper but they offer cool features that Pop Up owners love. My (Susan) first camper was a Pop Up. My kids loved sleeping in the tent beds and watching the adults around the campfire. Plus they are so compact they can be stored in a garage. But I understand your point, they aren't for everyone. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!
@@RVBlogger For me, the issue is storing this thing, maybe covered, outside behind an RV gate that is 6' tall in an HOA community that disallows RV's. Imagine, having an RV lot/gate on your 1 acre property and not being allowed to park a visible RV there. Smart, right?! Anyway, that is why a popup RV like the HW296 is appealing to my wife and I. Might be a portapotty or a cassette toilet, but if you have to go in the middle of the night then having one indoors isn't the end of the world. We like the idea of the HW296 and will be renting one a couple of times before we seek to purchase one. Thank you folks!

@@RVBlogger Sounds reasonable. I can't imagine there's any way to insulate canvas. You'd need a down sleeping bag if you want to use one of these in cold weather, I'd assume.
They do come with a furnace but it could still be a bit chilly in those beds. @@christinef7739

Love these floor olans. Just dint feek comfortable with canvas sides in Bear country
Pop-Ups have improved over the years. I can understand the fear of using these in highly populated bear territory. Thanks Jimbo!
That second pop up had a propane tank on its side under the couch. I thought propane tanks were not suppose to lay on their side according to Todd at NRVTA?
Hmmm...I'll have to research that. But Todd is usually right!

@@RVBlogger we live on the west coast and we are snow and iced in. Businesses are closed for the day.
Oh wow! Sorry to hear that. I think we are in for a rough winter. Stay safe! @@RickandDarcirvadventures
I like it Todd!
You would have the best popup campers with all of these cool features!

I like the last one, but the price is crazy high!
Prices are coming down but just like everything else they won't go down to pre-covid levels.

Do you have any recommendations for a compact pop-up? My total towing capacity is a whopping 2k 😂
But seriously, I would love to know. Thank you!
A whopping 2000 lbs! You may have to go with a pop up tent - lol!

wondering...can on switch the bed ends? wed like the larger bed on the other end. is this possible?

can one
Susan used to own a popup camper and she can't think of any scenario where you would be able to switch the beds...great question though.

Josh the RV Nerd has a video about the one you mentioned
@@jenniferrosenthal7731 Josh is a great RV resource! Thank you for helping!
If I had access to a 3 burner, I would have taters frying and a jar of canned moose, pork, or chicken warming up for supper after a long day hunting.
That's sounds like a warm, hearty meal after hunting! Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting.
Absolutely crazy pricing. If it costs as much as my truck I’ll just sleep in my truck
I've done that! But an RV is way more comfy and convenient...these are MSRP prices which oyu should never pay by the way. Always negotiate or buy used and save a bunch of money.

The Rockwood was the best one,but WAAAAYYYY out of my budget!
The Rockwood is a pretty awesome floor plan. Remember these prices are negotiable. I think dealerships are highly motivated today. And don't forget to check the used RV market...just get it inspected first. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!
Kinda stinks they have done away with the three way fridge. Was nice to run on propane when we stayed in the state parks.
Great point and I agree!

Mike
WAY too expensive for a pop up... Just get a regular RV (size of your choice) with much better features (actual frig/freezer, actual bathroom that's NOT a wet bath and actual cabinets) for a heck of a lot less in price
Maybe so! Just depends what you are looking for but yes - the prices are steep even though they are coming down.
Thanks for watching!
Mike
That's great unless your tow capacity is low. Besides that, dollar to dollar and space to space, the pop ups are less money. Besides, I prefer the pop up for it's openness.
The GVWR of a popup camper is pretty low compared to a travel trailer. @@d.shanerose1729
Overpriced. The materials to build will cost you ~2000$. And sell it for 20.000$ thats crazy.
It is true the MSRP of RVs these days are still a bit too high but I'm pretty sure there is more than $2,000 worth of building materials that going into constructing a Popup camper. And of course no pays MSRP...I hope. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting.
@RVBlogger I checked a few DIY videos, and people spend 1500-3000 on materials.

I think it's cheaper to just buy a used one 😂
Of course it is...but is it?
You can buy a brand new 2024 for the price of a used RV if you play your cards right. All the 2025s are rolling in and there are tons of 2024s still on the dealer lots. So you can negotiate a great deal (like 40 to 50 % off) and get a new RV for a used price!
Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!

That hw296 is a joke. 58 in tall???? Those people are on crack rock
