Hey, just stumbled on the channel.
      Like it!
Few tips from a guy who's just got his 1st muscle up 2months ago...
The two set to failure is a decent idea at 1st...
To move forward after you can do 10 pull ups in a row (without the last one being super slow)
You have to also practice a fast-as-possible pull up, (I recommend completely fresh,~ 72hour without any pull ups; again two sets is good.
Then after you've done that for a while a 3rd workout of what I like to call 45-degree hang pull ups. (Rotate your elbows facing forward, pull your shoulders down and back, so your whole torso is starts to angle forward. Hips Infront of the bar). These should be done as-fast-as-possible.
*These are hugely difficult* but I believe THIS is how muscle ups are made.
Master that with speed and you simply fall forwards against the bar at the top, with that you're ready to dip. Then there you are 1st muscle-up!

I am doing muscle ups as 190 cm tall 85 kg.. but i got 3 years of pullup expirience behind me... dont even push for 10 pullsups.. just stick to 3-6 pullips in set, with pulling as explosive and as fast as possible on each set.. do this with greace the groove method.. its fastesy way to learn muscle up.. when j are able to pull 3 decent explosive pillups to chest.. start doing them ins wing arc motion.. with trying to get bar underneeth your chest... this is best programing for muscle up.. from 2 pullup to fastest muscle up i am 100% sure

Been losing motivation due to minor improvements in the long runs but this and your 1mile video reminded me the only person I should be comparing myself to is ME. Also I want to run a 6min mile. Two months ago my first mile was 11:14, yesterday I cranked out 9:47. My goal is a 6min mile across the board but I aiming for the achievable goal of 8mins. Wish me luck. Also how tall are you, im 6'1 at about 200lbs

Niceee ! Just a tip, you shouldn't let your body "fall" on the eccentric movement, try and control the decent (sorry dont know if that's how its written) as it will work more your muscles and increase your rate of improvement

This video is awesome! Very inspiring. I know a lot of muscle advise says to leave a rest day in between working out. Do you think you'd still achieve 8 pullups after a month if you used rest days? Or do you think the muscle gains continued day after day despite lack of rest?

    • @Senzu_Beannn
      @Senzu_Beannn ปีที่แล้ว

Both Methods Work, It Just Depends On The Time Frame. In The Long Run, Rest Is Better But In The Short Run Consecutive Days Without Rest Shows Better Progress… From My Experience At Least.

Hey man, good luck on your journey.
A strict muscle up is no joke, way harder then a normal muscle up.
I don't know where you are getting your training advice from, but I think a few adjustments will get you to your goal faster.
First off, unless you are already proficient at dips, you should really be training that movement as well. The pull-up might be the more important half of a muscle up, but practicing dips (especially focusing on really deep dips) will help.
Second, you have been practicing slow, strict pull-ups, which is great for beginners, but you are quickly moving out of (and have probably departed) the beginner range for pull ups. I think your grip is a little bit close compared to the optimal muscle up grip, so I would practice pull-ups with your grip just a few inches wider. Also, even a strict muscle up utilizes an explosive pull-up, so you should be looking to practice becoming more and more explosive with your pull-ups. Instead of just doing a chin up, try to bring the bar to the middle of your chest. Once you have mastered that you can try to get even higher with your explosive pull-ups, by bringing the bar to your abs. You really want to generate momentum out of the bottom of your pull, when doing a muscle up, this momentum will help relieve your weight during the transition from pull to dip which is always the hardest part.
Beyond these there is the technique of muscling up, this is a HUGE factor that is underplayed in many TH-cam progression videos. I am still working on my technique, so I'm not comfortable giving advice in this area. Before I ever achieved a muscle up I remember reading that you should be able to do 20 pull ups to do this muscle up. This is completely false. I have broken 20 pull-ups in a single set maybe twice in my life, and I can do somewhere between 15-18 right now, however I can also bang out 10 muscle ups with this level of strength (maybe 2-3 strict). Static, strict pull-ups for me have very low correlation with muscle ups. You want to be able to preform explosive pull-ups, I am fairly sure that being able to do even a few explosive pull-ups will provide the requisite strength for doing a muscle up.
I found this video because of your 5 minute mile video. That is a goal I have been considering for myself recently, so it was inspiring to see you going after it as well. I hope you continue to update these series, I would love to see more of your progress.

Hey may I ask how tall you are? (I am 1.90 myself) greate vid mate!
Edit: Found the anwser in a comment (1.94) Oh and here's a little tip: once you can do 10-15 pullups, it's time to stop training for more reps, instead train for explosivness, and start doing straight bar dips, normal dips or just push-ups because the second half of the muscle up ins't that easy either, good luck I am on a similar journey ;)
