thank you for your educational post, the pedals cost more in the UK so I am using two Zoom racks, tried a midi switch system, when free music contempory free is running midi switching live is a problem for me so working basically on pre sound setups and two bypass switches.working with effects live just is a problem well for me anyhow. possibly on standards just a bit more intro time to get them clicked in. truth is people want more so we have to carry more.
Very interesting. Im a trumpetplayer too. Im going like this: amt p800 - -) meris 440 mic preamp send return Just waiting for the amt and getting started. Whats youre experiences when using more synthezised sounds (enevelope, cutof, oscilators, filters, small synth using the audio in)? How do you live changing the parameters? I found it quite difficult to play with the right hand en turn (little knobs) with the left hand Grtz Niels
Great board, great sounds man ! it looks like good quality cable you got there. Did you start with these cables or did you change at some point ? I'm wondering if it makes a hearable difference for woodwind players. So far I mostly focused on how to get a good sax sound with no feedbacks. Cheers !
Adam Vanderveen I see that some people do try that. For live applications it does not interest me as I don't like the back pressure and want to be able to mix in my open clean sound as well. As far as for in a studio where you want just the wet sound it could work really well. Thanks for the comment.
Hey Blair, nice demo. I just purchased the Roland Space Echo pedal by Boss. What do you use to plug in your microphone? Do you use an XLR to 1/4" adapter direct to the input? thanks - Marc
Thanks for the question. I use a great product from Radial Engineering called the 'Voco Loco'. It takes xlr in with a pre amp and phantom power if needed, runs a 1/4 effects loop, and them has XLR out. Check it out. It's great.
Hi Blair, not a trumpet player but a saxophonist looking to put pedals from the old teenage rock band days to good use! I have a MXR Custom Comp, and it hadn't occurred to me to use it. Do you find it really essential for evening out the sounds going to the PA> And did you try it early to flatten to input signal into the pedals or did that just detract from the character. I'm just curious. And why the decision to crank the output level on the Dyna Comp? Ta, Jamie
+Kalakuta Music I find the compression is key to evening everything out. The only pedal that it affects the personality of is the envelope filter, so I sometimes turn it off. As far as the level, it works the way I have set perfectly. As you notice the compression is only on a hair!!! Thanks for the question!! I hope this answers ity.
Cool, thanks! I'll give it a go in terms of ironing out sounds that come through very strongly etc. I find some effects react strangely to 'non-tonal' sounds such as my articulation attack etc. Thanks for the reply!
Thanks for the great and informative video. Just wondering if you've ever used tany of the multi fx pedals by line 6 or boss and if they are worth it for someone just starting their fx journey.
I actually started with an old Yamaha multi fx unit. It gave me a chance to try out many different sounds. I know many people who use them, I was just drawn to more individual pedals and personalities. I find most multi fx to me too complex for me. Too many menus and options.
Cool, it's good to know how people started. After asking some guitar and bass friends they seem to have started the exact same. Get something that can do everything ok and then as you develop find your own sound with pedals that can do what you want well. Thanks for the reply!
hi ... I need your help .. the clean out of Pigtronix Disnortion can be connected to envelope phaser And Also is perfect for direct recording ... that other pedal can connect this output? my pedalboard is this .. compressor, boss octaver oc3, Pigtronix Disnortion Aguilar filter and DD6 boss ..
I connect mine to the clean in channel on my pigtronix envelope phaser. You could connect it to a clean channel on your amp I guess. I wouldn't even use mine if I didn't have the envelope phaser. Maybe, don't worry about it.
hi blair, is there any KIND'S of efx that can sound like trumpet too? does reverb eq comp enough to sound like trumpet? need your answer ASAP. thanks man, GOD bless!
@@MrTrek88 so that means i can sound like a trumpet in my guitar with proper efx set? can i have a list you experiment on to sound like a trumpet? i'm a huge fan of SKA but i don't want to have a big band members so i like to do the horn section with my guitar hehe. thanks man for the idea. it's a LOT! :)
Hello Blair! Been tinkering with Overdrive, Distortion and Fuzz. I have been having some serious trouble with uncontroled feed back. How do you handle it?
Well, it's a challenge. Placement of mic, amp and levels of amp, pedals etc will help to control feedback. It's always a challenge and you must always be aware of it. I have been able to control mine, and only get it with overdrive and wah combined. It's more likely when you combine pedals. I like a certain amount of feedback and use it as a texture in certain situations. As you work with individual levels of each pedal and amp, plus mic placement you will learn the personality of each pedal and be able to control it more. You can try to EQ in out a bit as well. Hope this helps, but I realize there is no quick fix.
+Mark Lam Great suggestion. I will make a POG2 video soon. It is a great pedal that is the backbone to many of my sounds. I have not looked in the HOG2 pedal. I will have to check it out.
Question from Kevon Scott: Hey just curious...does you're godlyke Powerall supply power your Voco-Loco too or are you running that separately on its adapter?? Answer: I just use the supplied adapter as it is not 9V.
Anything you need to run separately or does it all power up fine on the godlyke? Sorry I'm in need of a reasonably priced power system and this looks great so I just wanted to make sure
Kevon Scott I run everything except the voco-loco and the pigtronix pedals on the godlyke. The pigtonix daisy chain together with the supplied adapter as it has lots of mA room.
One more question. Do you feel like you still need the equalizer in your chain now that you're running with the voco-loco or do you just keep it in because it was there originally? I'm ruining my chain through the voco-loco but I've yet to get an equalizer and I'm wondering if I would even need one?
Now that I use the voco loco I probably don't need the EQ pedal. It is still nice to use it for the boost when I need it. It is not as much of a need now though. The voco loco solves a lot of problems for me. What pedals are you using now?
Chris Hockless It sounds like a piccolo trumpet. I was excited when I first got this pedal at the thought of adding 1 and been 2 octaves up - wouldn't any trumpet player!! I have found that I enjoy using the sub 1 and 2 octaves much more, as they add a great thickness and depth to the sound, and are great when added to overdrive or wah.
I have thought about it as I have a student at school that uses it with guitar and voice. At this point I am gonna hold tight with what I have. Still have to explore all the possibilities of my current set-up. Thanks for the comment!!

the distortion is subtle but nice, adds a lot of texture

Yeah it is tricky to change live. I usually keep my settings pretty basic and don’t change them live.

100% cotton.
love it

I have always used these cables. They are easy to customize length and that is great for me.
you ever try the silent brass setup? Id love to try it with some pedals ect. Think it would give a cleaner crisper sound then using a mic
Adam Vanderveen I see that some people do try that. For live applications it does not interest me as I don't like the back pressure and want to be able to mix in my open clean sound as well. So, which is the main pedal which produce the trumpet sound? Is it the Pigtronix Ennvelope Phaser?
Nur Fareeq bro he’s actually playing an electric trumpet through his pedals, not a guitar
what kind of pedal you recommend for harmonize and recreate tbone sound or to hear several voices, creat volume? great video, thanks for sharing!!!
I highly reccomemd the POG2. It tracks great!! 4 octaves!!
Yes he is using a ring modulator. But which kind of a ring modulator I never found a freeware version of such a ring modulator.
