- Does anyone else remember these older animal crossing locations from the gamecube, wild world, city folk, new leaf, and pocket camp games? New horizons has a lot but not all these animal crossing locations.

Club LOL is probably the place that I miss the most but overall the streamlining of ACNH removed a bit of the classic feeling that the older titles had. Locations like Resetti‘s HQ literally served no purpose but they added so much in the sense of making the world seem alive. I love that we got Harv‘s Plaza now but I can’t replace the City or Main Street when it comes to that cozy feeling.
Yes being isolated on a sandbox island you can terraform yourself is kinda nice but I really prefer moving into a town that already existed before, and will continue to exist without me later. There was a sense of history, especially with the places and characters you couldn’t change.
I'd love outdoor clubbing on Harv's island!
The police station wasn't just for lost&found! Copper would tell you days in advance when one of the special visitors would be in town, *and* he'd tell you where to find them when they arrived. One of the best features of the game IMO, along with the calendar.
Yeah and I always took everything at the lost and found 😂.
Plus I did love the bulletin board that showed you the acre and sometimes villagers said they hid something in a certain acre ❤

I choose Booker so I did not know that they inform you days in advance- I don't know if Book did it too in his own special way but I never noticed

I miss tortimer island so so so much. I miss talking to randoms, and all the fun minigames. Imo tortimer island is what makes new leaf the best
When someone visits you in new horizons there is literally NOTHING you can do together except showing them the island 😢
The main reason for donating to Boondox was meant to be a bell sink, and the rewards for donating at certain amounts are different colored feathers that you could wear.
Pelly and Phyllis' comments alone were worth the bells. 😂 Back when the dialogue was actually fun.
I wish New Horizons had more buildings, the islands are so big there is more than enough space to add some buildings. Even if they're not all very useful, buildings bring some life and fun into your town, and you have more things to do. They did add buildings on the Happy Home Paradise island, but you need the DLC and I wish you could have those buildings on your main island.
I also wish there were more secrets to discover, nowadays they tell us everything about the game in the Nintendo Directs, but when I played new leaf my mind was always blown away when discovering all the secrets such as going in the Resetti center.
Yeah the islands do seem pretty empty. When the 2.0 update came out, I purposefully avoided Nintendo Direct to surprise myself which was definitely a good choice lol
Yeah, now we have to stick to adding more players to our islands if we needed more buildings

I really wish the city from city folk would come back, but I can see how it wouldn't really fit too well with the whole island thing in new horizons
It's simple: taking a plane to the continent. You start the game in the continent.
That could work. They did that with Happy Home. And it would let the island retain its islandness.
Maybe we'll get an "Animal Crossing Return to the City" eventually that takes some of the best features from NL NH and City Folk and lets us go to the city but decorate our "town" the same way as in NH and NL you can put the shops where you please and we'll have plenty and then maybe the city can have extras llike the Club and or be like Tortimer's island was. I sure hope so anyway I want that credit card back so I don't keep having to carry my life's savings in my pockets
I feel like it doesn't really fit with the forest theme of Animal Forest TBH
I think it would be cool if in a future game we could choose what buildings we have in our towns or islands, sort of like public works projects in previous games. That way you could choose whether you wanted a more city-like or natural area.
Exactly. It pisses me off that we can't customize the shops or resident services in acnh.
I loved the dream suite back in New Leaf,I don't like that you have to pay for it now if you want to use it. That's not fair to the players
You don’t have to pay for the dream stuff but do for the online service…feelings are mixed on that

The town plaza with the tree where you can sit down and have a trip of nostalgia... kicks and so on were so detailed and cute and store upgrades were the BEST! It motivated you to do more.. I want new leaf on the switch ..
Sadly Animal Crossing will never be the same. New Horizons was a hug step BACK. One can only hope for 3DS virtual console
I like how mail was in the older games… I hope they bring the old way back in the next game
I would love for Tortimer island to return with an option to customise a house, I also wished the astrology and police returned
My first Animal Crossing game was New Leaf so I miss the plaza, some of the public works projects, and Retail. I wish there was an option in New Horizons to have buildings or at least little campers placed to be built on the island like the stores. The only difference could be that if you want to, you can also destroy them. Plus, I wish the buildings on the island could be customized kinda like in New Leaf so players don’t have to hide them if they can’t figure out a way for them to match their island.
I've always felt like Pocket Camp was a slap in the face to long-time fans of the console games. There's SO much in that game that just doesn't exist in New Horizons.
i really miss having the mainstreet, it brought so many of the npcs together with their own personalized shops. we kinda have that with harvs island but it takes so much time to get there now
I wish the gba island returns in some way like... It would be awsome to connect your 3DS with the Switch and visit your old New Leaf town.

Love how the series builds up a lot of these locations and then it's always, 'It was then removed in New Horizons'. Shows how lacking that games was in quite a few areas.
New Horizons is definitely lacking in many areas where all the other games excelled.
New Horizons also excelled at things that the other games lacked. The addition of terraforming and being to place furniture outside is amazing.

I think the main one they should bring back is the post office, I just really like the feel of having to go into a whole building to mail stuff and pay of your loans and all of that.
I want Farley and the wishing well back! I like the idea of this reclusive-god-gnome-man watching over the town.
Playing AC for a good portion of my life always makes me sad when I think about all the features and characters we befriended who never came back. Was hoping Horizon was going to be the ultimate experience where everyone and everything was implemented in some form
They took out so much personality in Acnh. Visiting places you couldn't usually visit like Mr. Resettis Hq was such a special and mysterious feeling back in the day that made you wonder what else could be explored, but these locations were just taken out sadly.
The music for the gateway is literally just the British national anthem. “send him victorious, happy and glorious, long to reign over us, god save the king.”

Boondox always confused me so much as a kid, I never knew what to make of it lol
they should bring the club to our islands and they should give the animals the ability to use the items such as fairground items like in pocket camp
Honestly I love the police station, made it feel like a real small town. We have lost items, but no Copper or Booker to have them on a shelf for us the player to lend a hand and find their owners
And they'd keep a look out for "suspicious" visitors and warn you about walking alone in the dark. It really added a nice, cozy touch to the town
It's both nice & sad remembering these. Wild World was my first game & ignoring City Folk I've played every main game since along with happy homes & Pocket Camp.
These had a lot of memories in them & it's disappointing they're gone.
I still remember theorizing that using the plane in New Horizons(this was before it came out) we'd have the ability to travel to different places like in Pocket Camp. Like you could fly to a city like the section past the.train tracks in New Leaf or maybe a place. We got an update to Harvey's island & the Happy Home DLC but not exactly what I hoped for & the DLC can only go so far while finally coming to terms that you're burnt out for New Horizons.

That “collegiate” music at the town gate sounds like it’s playing the song God Save The Queen/Let Freedom Ring
On the decorating a town, that was already possible in Happy Home Designer on the 3DS. Granted, it was criminally how under-used the cross-connectivity was between it and New Leaf, but it did let you decorate an entire town - even if you couldn't do anything else with it.
I always thought they should've allowed you to redesign your New Leaf villagers' houses in Happy Home Designer.
I do miss the lighthouse, I miss the credit card function in the city, and I miss the version of the HHA that let you collect people's houses and order their furniture if you liked it and it wasn't rare, and I miss Club LOL\ the Marquee I also really miss the "make your own museum exhibit" rooms. Minigames too. Though with NH the way it is I just really wanted outdoor rugs brought back, and some of the pocket camp furniture though. I think I'd want to see club lol back the most maybe combine it with the Roost and make it Club Lol on Friday and Saturday and then a different performer (between Shrunk and KK Slider) every other night and on the nights it's Club LOL it can be like an "arcade bar" the dance club and then the old NES and arcade style games you can sit at and play like they used to have the slots in pokemon. And you can get drinks and snacks like at the poki cafe as well as just your regular coffee. the selection changes just like it does there as well as just your daily brewster coffees and you can invite your villagers there to hang out to micro-increase their friendship that way we don't get the controversy of being able to date your villagers but like the people that want to spend more time with them (or that pretend date them as like a story like some creators do) can. And it'd be another good way to help earn photos like the gift giving. Cause that was one thing I liked about Magician's Quest Mysterious Times (given you could also literally date them which I'm sure would stir up a stink now) but you could take your "best friend" on essentially friend dates too and I think that would be fun is to like invite your favorite villagers out to go get a meal and go to club lol to dance and maybe be a crud-ai cpu player 2 in a NES game or something. On those little friend dates it also let them follow you as you caught bugs and fish and if you broke out an instrument to play (which I would REALLY like that to be more of a function) they'd join you.
Like could we imagine if instead of standstill items we could carry the electric guitar and play it in the town square to a K.K. song and the villagers could join with an instrument of choice? I'd love that.
I guess this kind of counts to the topic but I wish that Happy Home Paradise had all of the facilities that Happy Home Designer on the 3DS had. The 3DS game had a hotel, a business office, two shops, a department store, and a music hall in addition to what was in the New Horizons DLC.
The Town Gate theme is based on a tune used for a few different countries for national anthems. The most known version is God Save the Queen / King from the UK, but Liechtenstein and Switzerland also have a version.

6 minutes ago,, thrilled to be this early. Absolutely love your AC videos man - Ive been playing AC for 15 years and you are one of the only TH-camrs who seems to have the level of understanding of Animal Crossing that took me 15 years to get.
You can go see Resetti in City Folk too. Sometimes you can go down the tunnel in the city, and you could meet Resetti and his brother.
Maaan looking at what all the other animal crossing games had, New Horizons just seems really…empty.

A lot of people dunk on the City in City Folk for being inconvenient to get to, but I actually think the design was super solid both aesthetically and gameplay wise. The purposely made everything in the city something that you wouldn't have to visit on a regular basis, focusing mainly on things that cycle weekly / seasonally, so it'd feel like a special area you only need/want to go to on occasion rather, and that helped make the ride over feel more like a special little bonus interaction rather than an inconvenient extra step.
The feathers from donating to the Boondox were a flex back in the day tho!

I love New Horizons, but man I don't get why they didn't add more. Like Nook's Islands suck after you went to them all which doesn't take long. Nooklings shop only has 1 upgrade which makes no sense since the game is all about customization. The Camper shops just aren't the same as main street. You just pay for them to set up shop. In New Leaf it actually progressed as you played from different kinds of things. A game about customization could do with more optional buildings. Also the Museum should have had another upgrade, so you could make custom exhibits. I love New Horizons, but it still feels pretty lackluster and like it has so many missed opportunities.
I will never understand why Nintendo removed so many of the unit mystery island types. Made using nook miles tickets exciting when the game came out...once they patched it, it was boring
in my opinion new leaf was the best game as of right now new horizons just doesn't have the charm of the old games

hey, I'm someone who doesn't like life simulators, but I love the Animal Crossing characters cause they're so adorable and have great personalities, love the fan comics, fan animations, still trying to find a way to watch the anime movie, etc, but the Animal Crossing games are just lacking in anything to do, I love freedom in games but when they limit your freedom like in Animal Crossing it's hard to have fun and get into, and yes I tried 2 Animal Crossing games and I can't find anything fun to do but I wanna meet my favourite characters, can ya make a video to help new players that don't like life simulators? maybe also do modding Animal Crossing videos? debug mode even?
No mainstreet or retail in new horizons has made it really hard for me to get into it
That cabin would be a cool edition. Either 5 villagers that used to live on your island would visit or random villagers would be there. Maybe it would be dialy or rotate out. And you would be able to invite them to live permanently on your Island. Like its an upgrade to your campsite.

The only animal crossing game I haven’t played is the very first one (mainly because I was pretty young in 2001 and I didn’t own a gamecube; although I might have played it a bit on my cousins’ GameCube) so I had no idea about the secret islands! I think that’s really cool that they brought that idea back for New Horizons!
About Animal Island, there's more you can do if you left your tool items on the island before playing Animal Island. Not allot more, but something more
I don't even consider Pocket Camp a real AC game and so I guess NH is the beginning of the downfall for the Animal Crossing series. I'm scared for the next game.

As someone who has only played New Horizons, it makes me sad how many locations have been scrapped. I really wish we still had the lighthouse or Reset Center. Maybe in the next game... if there even is one.
Some of these still exist, just in a different format - example the dump and lost and found were merged into the drop box feature in ACNH.
Some don't exist because lets be honest, they are redundant in terms of entertainment or existing mechanics - the lighthouse was something interesting, but more needy than entertaining.
the GBA Island was also the main way me and my brother got our NES games. I honestly never knew until seeing a video a couple days ago that you could get them from Redd.
I feel like they've reduced animal crossing to a mere decorating game with no soul. Once you decorate your entire island the game feels like its over. And if you have no friends besides your villagers, the game feels so lonely after you've read the same dialogue 5 times per day. I hate how the villagers are now just souless decorations. And no more shop upgrades, no post office, police station, shampoodle, gracie grace, tortimers island, mini games, dr shrunk, resetti, coffee shop, and possibly more.
I hope the next game fixes a lot of the issues

I don’t think the post office will fully be gone.. I think it just was because they wanted you to have postcards day one and having a post office or even someone who works a card area in the airport wouldn’t make sense for a deserted island. I know they could’ve had you build it later when you were more settled but yknow. I could be wrong but I think when we go back to a town, we’ll get it back
I actually don’t want it to go back to being in towns 😅 Islands are so much more customizable it feels like! I want the customization of ACNH but the many fun activities and NPCs from the past games and upgraded villagers (give them more personality and more things to say). Is it too much to ask for?
I really want a game that has things like the main street seen in HHD but rather than main Street in New Leaf try to incorporate it into the main town layoit so it can feel like more of a city rather than a small town.
We've really reached the limit of what we can make with a small town, and the animals have been so stripped back that it doesn't even feel like building a close knit community anymote so I'd like to see a big city with more animals in it
