I found out recently that this show had a Crossover with the 1966 version of *"Batman"* and now that i think about it the Green Hornet dresses like the DC hero named *"The Crimson Avenger"*
There's a funny scene where Bruce and Britt (not knowing the other's secret identity) are discussing the crime fighters. Bruce rips on Hornet's mask. Britt rips on Batman's cowl. Neither can defend their alter ego without letting the cat out of the bag
Ahhhh i didnt know the first batman and robin in series got a crossover with the green hornet! I love Bruce Lee! Thank you dad for introducing me to your childhood favorites. Im 21 and i absolutely love this.
The director of this initial episode was Leslie H. Martinson, who directed many TV shows over his career--from the early 1950's until the 1980's--including Batman, and also the Batman movie. Martinson was a prolific director, died at the age of 101.
I know what you mean. But in real life, fights are usually over within 7 seconds and although he was acting in this series, Bruce Lee trained for the real world.
Bruce was amazing with his fight scenes. Everyone was blown away, but unfortunately, the camera couldn't capture with his speed and motions so he was forced to do his fights much slower.
I have never had the chance to see even part of this series and now I can watch them all! I used to live in Seattle, and took Jeet Kun Do from one of Lee SiFu's original students. Now, I have been inspired to study again. ThankYou!!
RIP, Van Williams... Passed away Nov 28 at age 82. Just got announced today from family and friends that he in fact died last week. Cause of death was renal dysfunction. He lost a kidney when he was 25 and lived the rest of of his life with one kidney. Shame the Green Hornet series isn't on home video perfect or not. You would think with the Bruce Lee tie-in it would be a shoo-in. I was surprised nothing came of a home video release when the Rogen film was released in 2011... There was a marathon week of GH episodes on SyFy around the time of the movie's release. The movie, of course, did NOTHING to elevate the public awareness of the character OR really help sell the character to a new generation. The only Green Hornet I've seen put on home video recently was a grey market feature film that mostly Kato scenes culled from the TV series...
First show I ever saw in color. One family in our apartment building in Brooklyn had a color TV. Every kid would bum rush that apartment every week to see The Green Hornet and especially Kato in color! Wish that show would’ve lasted longer. R.IP. Bruce and Van!
DanTDrac That's because it would have been impossible to replace Bruce Lee. He was the only one who could have played Kato after the original, and the show didn't know what a gem it had in him.
This is great. I saw that they were selling vol1 in Amazon. After reading the, reviews many people said the audio and video doesn't work. Good thing I found it in youtube.
I loved to watch this show in the 1980s when I was a young girl. I was a Bruce Lee fan. His last movie came out before I was even born. I still watch his movies today. A little grittier than Batman(1960s). I would love to have this show on DVD.
The 60's are my favorite classic television era! Great shows for the whole family. Bruce was great as Kato and Van was also great as the Green Hornet and perfect for the role
As a kid, I preferred this to the Batman TV comedy. This was Film Noir in comparison. This duo was always seen fighting suited "Hoods" like early Lee-Ditko Spider-Man comics.
Seth Rogen is a good actor. It was the character he had to play that I did not like. He was always disrespectful towards Kato. The TV Show Green Hornet always respected Kato!
I loved this show as a kid. A few years back the Sci-Fi channel played a marathon of the Green Hornet -------🤗🤗🤗🤗👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍 I got a great copy of each episode 😁😁😁😁😂😂😂😂 I just watched an episode of the Cheyenne Show and Van Williams was on it he was far too underrated.
Man, I will never understand why this didn't go anywhere. One season, 26 episodes. Damn shame. This was good stuff, and the villains were believable threats to society.
Van Williams (Britt Reid, The Green Hornet) (1934-2016) Bruce Lee (Kato) (1940-1973) Wende Wagner (Lenore Case) (1941-1997) Lloyd Gough (Mike Axford) (1907-1984) Walter Brooke (D.A. Frank P. Scanlon) (1914-1986)
You mean an entire series co starring Bruce Lee? I remember when I was a kid I was so bummed to know that Bruce only pulled off four features and a short film if you count the 11 minutes of him in Game of Death. Then, I discovered he was a co star in a television show-- 26 episodes! I was 7 years old running all over the house and just blowing my lid at my parents, aunt and uncles, "Bruce Lee was on a TV show and nobody told me! Of course it never re aired until several years later, but I was over the hill that there was that much of my childhood idol left to discover!
+William Perkins I liked GREEN HORNET better than BATMAN, though I loved watching BATMAN, too. GREEN HORNET was similar & different at the same time. Both series were by GREENWAY PRODUCTIONS. Both were narrated by William Dozier. Both Batman and Green Hornet had secret identities and both had hidden lairs with secret entrances. While BATMAN was campy with a silly theme song that was easy for us to sing along with (Just one word, "Batman" repeated over again), GREEN HORNET was more serious, beginning with a more exciting theme song (played by Al Hirt) that said "action & excitement ahead". While Batman fought villains that were as amusing as they were dastardly, the Green Hornet fought cold-blooded criminals. The Green Hornet dealt with murders that needed to be solved. The show was almost like MANNIX. Green Hornet was strictly no-nonsense. This isn't to say that I didn't enjoy BATMAN. I did and I even got BATMAN-THE COMPLETE SERIES on Blue-Ray DVD. (I wonder why, while keeping their secret identities secret, did Green Hornet call his assistant "Kato". That would've been like Batman calling Robin "Dick Greyson" while fighting crime in costume.)
The "Green Hornet" was more of a "Grown-up" type of show, with more orgnized-crime types, than the campy villians of "Batman". Besides the same production company, both shows shared Mr. William Dozier as narrator.
Van Williams and Bruce Lee made a good team, it was a great TV series; when I was kid I look forward to watching The Green Hornet, mainly for Bruce Lee

Van Williams made the show a success. He was the Green Hornet who was the brains behind solving the crimes and getting the crooks. Without him, there is no show.
Without Bruce Lee, there was no show. A lot of racism was against Lee back in the 60s, and it was easier for Van Williams to get parts than Bruce. That's why Lee's movie success later came from Honk Kong, not America . RACISM.
Indeed. This is like Daredevil or Gotham of the 60's. It's just too bad that superheroes weren't taken seriously back then. Otherwise this series might have lived longer.
Thank you very much for this. this wss my show when i was a kid. my boy used to call me kato because i used to imitated all his moves. Thanks, you make an old soul smile again.
+Andy Mills I watched the original series almost fifty years ago on TV with my Dad. He told me that Al Hirt (the best trumpet player at that time) has that song on an album, and it is longer that the TV version. Go to Amazon and search for Al Hirt, or "Green Hornet".
Saw this when it was new, and liked it better than "Batman" which was out at the same time. They made a joke out of Batman, but at least played the Green Hornet more or less straight.
Seth Tyrssen Which is exactly why The Green Hornet got canceled by ABC; the network and TV viewers wanted another Batman on their hands, but after five episodes, the series started to tank in the Nielsen ratings and never recovered. Only 26 episodes of this show was made by 20th Century-Fox for ABC.
@@dariowiter3078 I loved Batman more as a kid, but as I grew older and rediscovered the old radio shows and movie serials of my parents' generation, I fell in love with TGH and gained much appreciation for the TV series as well. It really was a lot like those older stories. Maybe that's why it seemed to miss a target demographic. Adults of the 1960's had "outgrown" the old radio shows and serials, and kids (though by no means all of them!😁) found Batman more fun and exciting. Batman's campy humour also appealed to many adults, while flying over most kids' heads. I remember watching it with my parents, who would laugh out loud and then have to explain to "kid me" why, so I learnt some things too. In that way it was a show for the whole family. Had The Green Hornet TV show come out 10 or 15 years earlier, I'm sure it would have been a big hit with that generation of young people. The stories and characters were much better and more realistic than Batman. I still wish Van and Bruce had got at least 1 more season!
William Dozier, who produced the TV series The Green Hornet, and the Batman TV series was also the Narrator of both shows. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
I believe that Van Williams was not more successful due to his voice. Here in Mexico I was dubbed by Jorge Lavat, an actor with a deep, manly voice. Trust me the effect was awesome!

Bruce lee is such a legend! I enjoy watching it with my dad! I m 23! People always think it's old! But Bruce lee never gets old
The director of this initial episode was Leslie H. Martinson, who directed many TV shows over his career--from the early 1950's until the 1980's--including Batman, and also the Batman movie. Martinson was a prolific director, died at the age of 101.
I love when Bruce Lee kicks the shit outta the bad guys. Except he does it too fast. It's almost over before it starts.
ThankYou!!
How old are you
@@freddiereagan6705 I'm guessing mid 60s my buddys dad has a similar vibe did similar stuff
Was it Taky Kimura? FYI he passed away.
Loved Katos line-"One greased one parboiled"
Be 💦 water, my friend! R.I.P. Bruce Lee. The green hornet was just some more of his fantastic work.
I wish it would be released also but there are some pretty good bootleg copies to be purchased
AvengerII he's alive though..
Both Gh, an bm, where redone of old tv. Shows . Who knew. 1950s or so.
First show I ever saw in color. One family in our apartment building in Brooklyn had a color TV. Every kid would bum rush that apartment every week to see The Green Hornet and especially Kato in color! Wish that show would’ve lasted longer. R.IP. Bruce and Van!
I always come back to this series for a rewatch glad it's still available here.
I watched this show as a kid back in the 80s. I wish the newer movie was done better, this is a great series.
That Green Hornet movie SUCKED BIG TIME....
DanTDrac
That's because it would have been impossible to replace Bruce Lee. He was the only one who could have played Kato after the original, and the show didn't know what a gem it had in him.
@@el7jake Exactly 😎
I was just a kid when this show was on in the mid-60s and was devastated when it was canceled. It seemed like every little boy watched it!
Will always be a great series. Ended too soon 😪.
U know nothing about nothin
Good TV series
R.I.P.Van Williams.
Van passed away at 82 years of age on November 28,2016.
He was the last living member of the cast of 5 from TGH.
theironclads Van's alive.
@@awe7266 , Sorry but he's not.
While Bruce Lee died at age of 32. Imagine if he's still alive.
Yes, a sad day. RIP to the whole cast. Sense Wagner was gorgeous 🥰.
I really enjoyed watching these reruns on TV. Glad now it's here.
Bruce Lee has revolutionarized the fighting scene in American TV series.
This is where the legend of Bruce Lee was born.
You got it Elvy ol boy perfection
The 60's are my favorite classic television era! Great shows for the whole family. Bruce was great as Kato and Van was also great as the Green Hornet and perfect for the role
An amazing show! I get a real “Peter Gunn” type vibe from it - very dark, some wry humor. Very good..
one greased, one parboiled
As a kid, I preferred this to the Batman TV comedy. This was Film Noir in comparison. This duo was always seen fighting suited "Hoods" like early Lee-Ditko Spider-Man comics.
Came to watch Bruce Lee. Found a really good show with awesome music!
Seth Rogen is a good actor. It was the character he had to play that I did not like. He was always disrespectful towards Kato. The TV Show Green Hornet always respected Kato!
The Green Hornet movie has the same problem the Long Ranger movie (with Armie Hammer) does.
Ironically, the Green Hornet original origin was that he was a descendent of the Lone Ranger.
Gremlin1960 Probably that's why I thought both movies were the same!
Seth Rogan sucks as the Green Hornet. JUST LIKE.MICHAEL KEATON.SUCKED AS BATMAN
@@wlliebowen2043 Whoah, whoah... Michael Keaton as Batman is nowhere near the dumpster fire that was Seth Rogan as Green Hornet.
This is when tv was worth watching back in the 60s family shows
Thanks for uploading this. Been a fan of the show since it first came out, mainly because of Bruce Lee.
1966, the year was I born. It´s the year of creativity, turning new and imaginative ideas into reality!!
Ahh, the very first episode of The Green Hornet. This was a Classic TV show, I wished it had lasted longer than just one season.
Bruce!! There was only ONE!!! Great episode.
Fantastic. Loved this show when it came out.
Peace
I loved this show as a kid. A few years back the Sci-Fi channel played a marathon of the Green Hornet -------🤗🤗🤗🤗👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍 I got a great copy of each episode 😁😁😁😁😂😂😂😂 I just watched an episode of the Cheyenne Show and Van Williams was on it he was far too underrated.
Don't forget the great Batman/Green Hornet crossover 2-parter!
"Fortunately we are both very flexible."
Man, I will never understand why this didn't go anywhere. One season, 26 episodes. Damn shame. This was good stuff, and the villains were believable threats to society.
Thank you so much for posting this show! I love it so much!
Van Williams (Britt Reid, The Green Hornet) (1934-2016)
Bruce Lee (Kato) (1940-1973)
Wende Wagner (Lenore Case) (1941-1997)
Lloyd Gough (Mike Axford) (1907-1984)
Walter Brooke (D.A. Frank P. Scanlon) (1914-1986)
It was a great show, and my friends and I would never miss it. It was worth watching just to see Bruce Lee! Of course Van was cool too.👍
You mean an entire series co starring Bruce Lee?
I remember when I was a kid I was so bummed to know that Bruce only pulled off four features and a short film if you count the 11 minutes of him in Game of Death.
Then, I discovered he was a co star in a television show-- 26 episodes!
I was 7 years old running all over the house and just blowing my lid at my parents, aunt and uncles, "Bruce Lee was on a TV show and nobody told me!
Of course it never re aired until several years later, but I was over the hill that there was that much of my childhood idol left to discover!
Will always be remembered for Bruce Lee.
Wow, this show is actually really good
i loved this show when i was a kid thank you for bringing it back
What a great theme song. Not sure why this show only lasted one season. I know I was watching every episode. Why wasn't everyone else? What a shame.
I was the only kid in my group that liked this better than Batman
Ya Jeff THAT was a cool car. made ne wanted to have green headlights on my car when I got one. Tried a green crayon on my mom's, it didn't work.
Looking great Jeff, I remember a couple of those around here.
A very good comparison, much like what I have surmised over the years. Thank you.
The "Green Hornet" was more of a "Grown-up" type of show, with more orgnized-crime types, than the campy villians of "Batman". Besides the same production company, both shows shared Mr. William Dozier as narrator.
Van Williams and Bruce Lee made a good team, it was a great TV series; when I was kid I look forward to watching The Green Hornet, mainly for Bruce Lee
what a treat - my 1st time watching any episodes
Love this programme, watching in 2015, love it :)

Alex wrestling237 Hello there! Have you heard the talk about - BEST DVD ENTERTAINMENT 1966 BATMAN? (should be on google have a look)? It is the complete set on a DVD box set. Ive heard some decent things about it and my brother in law said amazing things about it as well.
Ya know nothin about movies
Van Williams made the show a success. He was the Green Hornet who was the brains behind solving the crimes and getting the crooks. Without him, there is no show.
Without Bruce Lee, there was no show. A lot of racism was against Lee back in the 60s, and it was easier for Van Williams to get parts than Bruce. That's why Lee's movie success later came from Honk Kong, not America . RACISM.
@@waltersimmons946Oh, shut up! It had nothing to do with racism. Without Van Williams there was no show.
@@lynettepalecek3141 Hmmm, obviously you've done no research on Bruce Lee. Very typical QUEEN RUNNING-MOUTH.
this show was ahead of it's time, what a classic!
Indeed. This is like Daredevil or Gotham of the 60's. It's just too bad that superheroes weren't taken seriously back then. Otherwise this series might have lived longer.
I've always loved "Batman," but I realize now that this is a much better show.
I've never seen these, man they are awesome! but I think we need a few more '66 Chrysler's!
Still love the Green Hornet/Batman '66 crossover episode
Thank you very much for this. this wss my show when i was a kid. my boy used to call me kato because i used to imitated all his moves. Thanks, you make an old soul smile again.
The batmobile can't touch the black beauty.Nuff Said.
Oh boy!!! I've found me a new favourite series. You are a legend Sam.
The music sure is exciting!
+Andy Mills I watched the original series almost fifty years ago on TV with my Dad. He told me that Al Hirt (the best trumpet player at that time) has that song on an album, and it is longer that the TV version. Go to Amazon and search for Al Hirt, or "Green Hornet".
All the music cues on the show were scored by Billy May.
How Al Hirt didn't sprain his fingering hand playing that theme is a mystery to me!
@@gerrydooley951 With Music conducted by Lionel Newman.
" One greased, one par boiled" Thank you Mr Lee.
Great stuff! I've seen it many years ago on rerun. And to my money this even more campy than Batman since it is more serious :D
I CAN COME HERE A RELIVE MY CHILDHOOD EVEN MY DAD LOVED THE GREEN HORNET
Not only did this show have a martial arts legend in Bruce Lee, but that “Flight of the Bumblebee” theme music… featuring jazz trumpet legend Al Hirt.
Wish this had more then 1 season.
It's a shame the series only lasted one season. I wish that could have lasted longer.
RIP VAN WILLIAMS... I just learned of the news, this is so sad!
Wish my local stations had showed reruns of this when I was a kid in the 1980s. I woulda loved this.
Also: Thanks for the upload.
