Boy I can see the sadness in Vans eyes towards the end and he really was close with Bruce Lee and I can see him almost about to cry at the end saying he wish he was still around. Van you are such a genuine person who stayed loyal to Bruce Lee after all these years and thank you for fighting for Bruce to get things done on the set. You were a true friend to Bruce as he was to you. You are a great actor, and intelligent awesome person. Rest In Peace Van. You are missed and loved by all the fans to this day.

@moh6410 I know that Van was respected by the Deputies in the L.A. Sheriff’s Department. He was a man’s man, not a hollywierd persona pretending to be one. I remember hardened full time Sergeants acquiescing to his leadership. It was pleasure to be in his presence and an honor to receive his direction in the intricacies of law enforcement. I will forever hold him in high regard!

Wow! That was the most honest, most genuine, most interesting interview I’ve ever seen. I learned that Van Williams was somebody I would’ve loved to hang with and I learned that Bruce Lee was human just like the rest of us. A super fast and lethal human….but human. So glad I clicked on this video!!
Privileged to have met Van many years ago at a convention. Absolutely lovely guy, self deprecating and incredibly humble. To this day still stands as one of the nicest actors I ever met at cons and I met a few.
There will never be a Green Hornet and Kato like the Van Williams and Bruce Lee team. All the CGI in the world can't create the chemistry those two had in that series.
RIP Van Williams (February 27, 1934 - November 28, 2016), aged 82 And RIP Bruce Lee (November 27, 1940 - July 20, 1973), aged 32 You both will always be remembered as legends.
I like how they became friends IRL. From what I've read, Williams supported Bruce in his career and, before the Green Hornet was cancelled, tried to get him as much camera time as possible
Thank you so much for your posting. It was my honor listen to this great man who is talking about great Bruce Lee. They were men in the Men. There are Always!
What a wonderful interview and makes me appreciate my Blu-ray disk of all The Green Hornet shows I have. Van Williams was a very classy act. This was the best interview on Bruce Lee thank you.
What a great interview. His talking style at the start put me off somewhat like he wanted to embellish himself when compared with Bruce, as many who have met him do after he is no longer around to defend himself, but by the end of it i can tell Van Williams only was telling the truth and had only good things to say and even Bruce had his weaknesses and was new to the directing game at that point. Interesting stuff. Thanks for uploading this. It's great to hear about Bruce when he was still green..
You know I felt exactly the same way watching this!😏 In the beginning of the interview I got this narcissistic vibe from him as he went on and on about himself and his accomplishments, and then once he finally started talking about Bruce I felt like he came off like he felt superior to Bruce in some way because his wording was somewhat devaluing and belittling. He did say some good things about him towards the end of the interview, but I think he prided himself more as Bruce’s mentor rather than his friend colleague and equal. Usually when you’re asked to be interviewed about someone you worked with and knowing they have passed away than generally it would be complimentary to talk more about that person’s positive traits and the good experiences you had together rather than things that might show them in a negative light. I do think part of it could have been Van Williams generation and mind set due to Bruce being younger and maybe a little less experienced. However, I think we all know who the real super star of that show really was as he was the only reason I watched that show as a kid. Bruce Lee also far exceeded Van in popularity and work when it came to future acting projects.😉👍🏻❤️😍 R.I.P. Bruce!🙏🏻❤️ You were one of a kind and there will never be another like you!❤️😍🥰

What Mr. Williams said at the end of this interview (31:43) sums up how all of us would like to be remembered as a "good father, as a good grandfather, as a good husband,"
The audience expected the Green Hornet to be "campy" like Batman was (and Batman had been on the air for about a year when the Green Hornet began). The Green Hornet was played dramatically and the audience didn't embrace it the way they did Batman. The show aired on Friday nights and on Saturday morning, Julio would ask me to pull down a tree branch, ever so high, and he would kick the branch.
He became so good that one day my younger brother Ray witnessed Julio kick a goon in the temple knocking him out because he was talking to his girlfriend while he stepped away for a few minutes!
Can Williams was an American Treasure 🙏🏻🇺🇸🕯️
Great interview
Great monologue
A sincere interview
Great interview with Van Williams. I don't know about others but my favorite part of the Green Hormet episodes was waiting for the moment when Kato would kick some bad guy's ass.
Van Williams Family no doubt is Very Proud of him !He was always a gentleman! How many gentleman do you see now in Hollywood Kurt Russell and Val
Excellent job 👍👌
I really like the Green Hornet I wish It could’ve lasted a second season.
Arguably the best looking leading man in the Warner Bros. stable of stars.
Friendships like that are hard to find.

Great to hear the story from him. Van is one of Bruce's 12 Disciples, along with ...
I believe Van was the one that convinced Bruce to fight Robin (Burt Ward) to a draw. It was all acting, but Bruce never wanted to show weakness. Even acting.
I've seen Van Williams' name on many Trivial Pursuit cards.
I liked that "The Green Hornet" didn't have the silliness that dominated the "Batman" TV series. I'm sorry that it I've never found it on disc.
I liked both of those shows and the Batman show was the perfect TV show in every category ,,casting, sound, music and especially the comedy inserted into the scripts.Fantastic in fact.
My friend knew Van and was told by him that Jack Warner (studio boss) refused to increase his contract pay so Van quit the business.
Wow - Bruce was great even with the shuriken
What a lovely guy
SONY !
Please make GREEN HORNET Video Game PS5 with Van and Bruce !! 🙏😭😭😭
Really sad the show didn't run longer
I'm surprised that it lasted only one season on the air. But even Batman (as huge hit as it was) only lasted two seasons.
@@jubalcalif9100 It really didn't last a full season, just 26 episodes. A full season for a half-hour show back then was about 32 episodes.
WHAT A GREAT STORY ABOUT BRUCE LEE ,, THANK YOU ,,
