They were exceedingly rare for a very long time! My understanding is that roan was actually not an acceptable color in the french percheron stud book, but the dominant roan trait hid in the gray horses, which were acceptable. Once in the states a few of the roan grays eventually bred with blacks which allowed them to express the roan. There were only a few in the country, but now there are dozens. Theyre really breathtaking!
Roan horses are ALWAYS extra powerful in work, maybe because of their hearts!! My grandfather had few horses and one of them was the roan, he was not the biggest, but the strongest at work, the same few roan horses were at my neighbours...

Creed Harwood of Troy Montana in facebook. Message him something along those lines and Im sure he will let you watch along as he raises and trains his horses.
While ofcourse he wasnt freshly trimmed, he was actually wearing pretty nicely considering he was barefoot and in work with no cracks or chips. He had some beautiful big draft hooves. The mares that werent in work could definitely use the trim.
I want to know why you take that beautiful blue roan Percheron and you don’t even groom them or they don’t look groomed at all. You wanna work them I hope that you do take time to treat them as good as they treat you. I just watched the channel and I was a little upset how the all of them looked unkept. And if there were horses treat them as a regular friend and clean them up and at least groom them. I am an activist, and I’m just watching channels, and I was not very happy without those horses looked.
Theyre both Roan. Father and son actually. The little guy is only 3 and learning to work. His owners didnt know how to break him so they sent him back to creed to learn how to be a good horse
Beautiful horse, I have never seen a blue roan Percheron. Are there many of them?

What is an 'activist'? Someone who picks tiny faults in people who are making a massive effort, while doing nothing positive themselves?
Seems roan is struggling!!!
