    I watched all of your videos and then "Pete and his bus" and now I'm re-watching yours again!
    To think that this morning, with the help of this episode, I was explaining to my five year old daughter what a shock absorber does. I should have been helping her get ready for school of course 😁

    Hi Everyone, many thanks for your comments regarding the music volume in this episode. In the early days of our TH-cam journey we did make a 'School Boy' error of not adjusting the music volume to match the rest of the audio in the video. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it in this episode, however, we have taken on-board all your constructive comments regarding this and we hope you will find in our more recent episodes that this issue has been resolved? Please accept our apologies for this, we hope this does not spoil you enjoyment while watching this episode.

    Lovely to see such a classic bus getting the attention it deserves. Just think that they use to get a full rebuild-service every 4 years at Alderham throughout its working life, until the depot closed in 1984.

    In my opinion the best buses ever made. Have made many journeys on them - mainly the 140 which ran from Heathrow to Mill Hill in the late 70's and great to see many of them being restored. Carry on the great work. I wonder if they were a favourite with Bus drivers?

    • @Routemaster4Hire
      @Routemaster4Hire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Couldn't agree more, there was a character about these vehicles, one that doesn't exist on modern buses. I know many ex London Transport drivers who loved driving them so they were very much a favourite back in the day.

    I may of worked on your bus, was at Aldenham in 84, after completing apprenticeship at Chiswick Works, although the bodies never went on the same chassis after overhaul. Also the registration would be changed. So a bus coming in for overhaul would have its identity removed, and these would be placed on the next vehicle coming off the overhaul line.

    • @Routemaster4Hire
      @Routemaster4Hire  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Colin. I'm sure its highly likely you did work on my buses (or at least the bodies or chassis of my buses) during your time. I would have loved to have visited Aldenham but unfortunately never got a chance to go to one of the opening days. It must have been a great place to work?

    • @colingooden3711

      @@Routemaster4Hire Your right it was a great place to work and unique in its operation. Travelling there on old RMA staff buses. I did work on the open day in the early 80’s. LT were selling old destination route blinds, I think everyone who came brought one. Everyone who wore overalls on the day, was approached by multiple people with requests for parts for their buses.

    Drilling out bolts/screws/*&£@s - worse bleeding job ever. I’ll use impact drivers on them, swear at them, weld nuts on, swear louder at them, blow torch stuff, swear some more and if all else fails, put the kettle on.
    Then
    Maybe
    Maybe.... I’ll drill em out... usually after wondering if burning the workshop to the ground is worth the insurance paperwork first!
    The amount of bouncy on the back of the bus makes me wonder.... how big are the springs?!
