    If somebody rolls up to play a game of Blood Bowl with a team entirely made via 3D print pen, I'm going to be more hyped than ever. At that point, you've won AND I'm going to be excited to see your handcrafted minis! The dedication that would require 🙏 Foul me with the beautiful chunky lads!

    Okay, the playful throwback to old flash speech was an absolutely delightful touch!
    Oof, those voxel lines on the base from the Formlabs 3L... Does their slicing software not have anti-aliasing? (or was it loaded in flat, as opposed to the usual angled to help hide them?)

    I have been after the perfect mini of my favorite D&D character which I have spent a fair deal of money on other artists' renderings and a custom 3D model.
    I have to say the 3D model I commissioned and then printed via a professional service like Shapeways is fairly impressive but I want more. What I want is a perfectly printed, and colored 3D model with a mind-blowing resolution that I have not yet seen.

    Pretty cool. I did write a draft of a business plan when the Fuse 1 was announced and delayed for about a year and a half before it hit the market. Was pretty impressed then. There was nothing like that at the time. Everything seems to have evolved. Fuse 1 seems to have not. I’m curious about JetFusion printers and their colour printing compares.

    Really cool to see these side by side. Certainly diminishing returns as you move up the levels beyond the $800 point. Interestingly I could see layer lines on the base on the Formlabs 3L which I thought was interesting.

    • @RisingApe
      @RisingApe  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This print was ran in 100µm and could have been orientated better / increased resolution. We typically print engineering parts, so this project was definitely a difference to our usual scope of work!
      The difference we've found with the Formlabs printers is that there is a very low failure rate compared to consumer grade DLP / LCD systems, which is essential when running a business / renting the capacity. The portfolio of different resin types they offer is one of the most competitive in the market, as the system is essentially plug and play with no fine tuning of settings to get dialled in. Less time programming, more time printing!

    the 10k$ machine left SO many thick layer lines. i'd be curious to see what it would look like dialed in settings-wise, but if that was the best it could do.... ouch.
    the hey gears looks great, but that 2500$ price tag is certainly not for the regular printer enjoyer. for most the gk2 would be pushing the budget, but much more in line with quality vs price tag for most.

    • @RisingApe
      @RisingApe  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeh, the company have since got in touch to say they printed it in 100 micron layer lines and so it can definitely improve for here. And spot on about the hey gears

  • @HiroProtagonistak
    @HiroProtagonistak 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You missed the 200 to 300 price range. The Mars 4 pro or the Mars 3 pro will get you similar quality to the 2500 printer. So close that you can save the money and buy more resin.

    To see how somebody makes a 3d pen overshadow all of these printers go look at Hoo's mini world. Takes slightly more effort though. 🙂...and mass production is going to be a bummer - but hey, you wanted to start your video with a pen.

    Great video but please keep in mind, these professional printers are not designed for best detail, like the cheap printers we use but for highest strength and long term durability! The formlabs resin lasts years even in sunlight and is stronger right from the start. SLS printin has way less datails but you can print parts and directly put them in an engine bay and they will last forever at 150C, which cheap resin or most FDM prints will fail super fast.

    • @RisingApe
      @RisingApe  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks, the FormLabs is absolutely capable of amazing detail, sadly it turns out post release that the company used a different resin and settings than expected, maybe one to revisit
