    You mentioned a CB card. This is actually a generic description of a payment card. CB sands for Carte Bancaire or bank card. Also the Freshmile rate is €30c per minute PLUS 30c per kWh. So you get the best value from rapid chargers where you're not spending a lot of time, but getting a lot of charge.

    Thanks for this video, we go in Sept to Spain via Bordeaux from Amsterdam with our Model Y . I hope we can only use the Tesla chargers to avoid all the " card stress" ;-)

    Last year november, I did my first "EV Journey" from where I live ( Gent, Belgium ) towards the Black Forest in Germany, and had the same problem like you: yes, there are enough chargers in Belgium, Luxemburg and Germany, but it is always nerve wrecking to find them. Getting to the GSP location is no problem, of course, but these hotels/shopping centers/service centers forget to put up some clear signs to guide you to the charger location. I hope they improve this, I have lost at least 30min driving around to find the charger...

      The signage is terrible for EV chargers, I have found in Spain and France. In some places it can add up to 5 minutes and in extreme cases they can easily be missed. I may be being biased but it is generally much better in Portugal for EV chargers where signage is concerned. 😁👍

    Here in the UK whenever your need a charger just go to McDonald's they always have either Instavolt or Ionity, so abroad whenever you see a charger on a map and there's a McDonald's nearby that's where the charger really is, not the location on the sat nav or the app lol

    I had to double check, but that iCharging dispenser had an option to have it in Welsh! I'd have been tempted to leave it in that when I left.

    Thanks for the video Marcus ,I think you need a navigator when trying to find chargers on supermarket car parks. I think I will just use Tesla when we go to France.

      Thank you David. I agree that exclusively using Tesla chargers in France seems practical, yet their placement isn't always ideal. Considering alternative options like chargers at Carrefour or near McDonald's can be more convenient, especially during meal times when traveling with family. Also, it's worth noting that Lidl chargers are currently more cost-effective than Tesla Superchargers. On another note, I find the navigation system in Tesla EVs less user-friendly compared to the one in my ID.3. It would be beneficial if Tesla could enhance this feature, possibly by integrating more detailed graphics and better zoom functionality for locating Superchargers.

      Marcus in northern part on france where we are going there are IECHARGE chargers that are 250kw and 40 cents per KWH. I was not sure which app/ charge card to use at Lidl.

      Sometimes goggle maps shows the position of charging stations quite accurate.
      Btw. the chargers at Carrefour are alpitronic chargers. They are one of the best types if not the best and no 1 in Germany.

    I used the IONITY at Labenne, i went the wrong way as well, terrible place, got to the charger though. Also the town names placed upside down is a protest by local farmers about losing subsidy

    Just wish i didn't have to leave the Autoroutes and pay the toll every time i need to charge.

    • @marcusevjourney566

      Yes, tolls are a problem. However some chargers are very close to the exits so it is not a big issue, plus chargers off the motorway are generally cheaper 👍😀

      In Portugal they are operated by another company at Lidl. Most Supermarkets are the same, except for Continente which has its own charging network which is barely legal.

    Hi I’m driving to France in an audi Do you recommend using a charging app to pay for charging or an alternative method?

    • @marcusevjourney566
      @marcusevjourney566  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you should definitely install FreshMile or Izivia, and ask for the cards as the apps may not work if there are internet issues. Ionity is another app that should be considered. What did you plan to use?

    Entertaining segment. But just to let you know here across the pond whether its EV charging or just trying to get to a place to eat, many many of the rural and suburban commercial spaces do not allow egress from from one area to another. Absolute rubbish in design.
    I was pleased (in the sense misery likes company) when I was in Spain a couple of months ago looking for a charger, it was no better than what we deal with here. So if like you, here in the US, you miss or can't find your cutoff you have to drive sometimes blocks upon blocks to try again. Total inanity of urban designers in general.

    Its cheaper in France because their electric is nuclear.

    • @marcusevjourney566
      @marcusevjourney566  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That is not quite true. Tesla Superchargers are cheaper per kWh in Portugal than France. Portugal has no nuclear power stations and mainly runs on renewables. The other chargers in Portugal are expensive because of the Mobi-E network.

    Not enough lighting and public safety in those French locales. No wonder women don't want an EV. The lack of lighting and security is appalling.

      The Total Charger that didn't work was well lit and could be seen from the petrol station, so it was not all bad. However, many chargers are not only in dark places but in isolated places which are hidden at the back and out of sight. I know charge safe.uk has a certification program that takes such things into account. I think what they are doing and specifying which chargers are safe is a good way forward.
