GIS professionals (or students) don't accept low pay jobs in GIS. I see companies offering less than $20 bucks an hour for GIS position - come on, one can make more than $20 waiting on tables.

Very informative as always. Programming skills are very important to secure a good job, but for people that doesn't understand it or have the time to learning is more like a threat. What should people do if they want to work in GIS but they don't want to write code. Do you think that's a skill that will become mandatory to have to land a job in the next few years or there's a way to grow professionally without it.

I think you can have a very successful career in GIS without knowing how to code. There are many companies that would rather contract out projects that need scripts written or you have one part of your team that focuses on coding and the other focuses on application, visualization, database, workflow and strategy. So many other things which do not include code.

​@@oliviahughes481bootcamps are overrated and they sell. A lot of fluff. I am very very new. I suggest SELF LEARNING and a desire to learn. Imo
