Not sure how Dark vs Maru GSL Finals exceeded expectations but here we are!! Proud of this cast as well, put extra effort into following the action (in the mid/late game) and think it went well.

Winter, I am a recent viewer / fan. Have you ever gotten the chance to cast an event? In my opinion, you would be one of the best.
This series was very well done, definitely some of your better work. I have noticed occasionally you will click off a big fight to watch a smaller runby longer than I would like, not this video however.

I must admit to a little bit of ignorance on my part, for the fact that I don't know the significance of the word "Maru" in the Korean language. I do, however, know that in Japanese, the word "Maru" means "circle", and is a common suffix for names. Which I think is perfect, for 2 reasons:
1. Maru, much like the circle, is a "well rounded" player; he has great micro, great macro, he can play bio, he can play mech, he can be aggressive with the best, and he can turtle all day long.
2. "maru" often appears at the end of names, where as Maru often appears at the end of major and premier tournaments.
So, for those of you at home, just remember; in Japan, "Maru" ends names; but in Korea, "Maru" ends games.

Anyone else notice that StarCraft 2 is the goat method of falling asleep? It works every single time. Not saying it’s boring in anyway but it’s amazing how fast it helps me sleep at night. I can’t be the only one.

That would ruin the importance of the map, and also be a huge buff to terran, by ruining the rng for zerg and protoss platers

They really need to revert the queen anti-air range nerf. It's kinda lame how little counterplay zerg have vs medivacs and liberators before vipers are out.

It would be funny if nukes had an ability, almost never used, to just detonate within the silo, deserving the ghost academy and having a nuke effect in the area

Game 6 I think this is the first game you've cast where Thors actually worked against Dark. Not for lack of effort though, Maru just didn't panic and cleaned up the infestors.

Damn that was a good series! Dark is a fucking monster, one of the few that could really make Maru have to work for it
Y'all Maru is so goddamn good at this game I gotta at least suggest he might be a borg infiltrator. He was fighting like three engagements at one point, microing marines and tanks and medivacs and defending his bases. Dark, to his credit, lives up to his reputation as the final boss, but if anybody was going to play protagonist and bring him down it was Maru.

Love Maru and happy he beat Dark (the arch villain), but I think the state of the game needs an adjustment to Ghosts (I play Terran as well).
Fun games, but I wouldnt say game of the year, or 'best finals' personally. Part of it is just Maru in general being such a stock standard known quantity. He wins when he is allowed to play his game his way... and he did. Dark failed to throw him off, and got squished. Kind of the reverse for Dark, he's so fun to watch because he does wacky stuff, and here we see more standard builds that just dont quite come together.
Maru really has me just saying "I fucking hate terran" at like 3 in the morning. Only other player that get's me like this is clem :(
What even is left to say about Maru? He's the GOAT. Best SC2 player ever.
I just wanted to point out that player cards at the start of game are fake cause there is no expansion emblem behind the text...
Fake news, it is from the "Legacy of the Void" expansion set. The only way to reveal the emblem is by bringing detection (available with TH-cam membership, I'm sure someone can confirm).

Honestly we should’ve had Serral in the finals up against Maru. No offense to Dark, but the series as a whole was way less nailbiting than Maru VS Cure
Serral doesn’t play GSL. He only plays big tournaments. Plus we need some other races win so Zerg players can complain about how Zerg doesn’t win more tournaments with balance while none of them play anywhere nearly as good. Uthermal beat up GM players using 1 single type of unit and he switched it up is funny. Showing how different the game of these professionals work compare to the regular folks that complained here.
I recently bought a brand new computer and monitor, and I must say, these casts have gone up a huge amount. This is amazing.

Late game Terran with ghosts is so boring. Not even Dark is interested. It all revolves around catching ghosts that have high hp, can cloak, jump into medivacs, nullify other spell casters by draining their energy or just outright snipe and kill any threatening unit lol.
You know how Templars are different? They’re super slow, they can’t cloak, their hp much less and feedback only targets one unit. That’s balanced.
I’m not a Zerg fan just a StarCraft fan.
Come on bro someone balance the game already. When two great Players play like this and it’s late game and it’s so one sided it just produces poor games.
But the real danger is all Terrans adopting this. Or maybe I’m wrong and the goal is to never let a Terran have that many ghosts to begin with or maybe some Zerg will solve this. Who knows.
Remember why disruptor range got nerfed? Because Hero would have 12 disruptors and that was game over lol
It's the same thing, pretty much any late game where Maru has 12+ ghosts I don't even bother watching because you can spam them.
If they just made nukes faster to land and changed EMP to single unit I think we'd get more Nuke strats because they're almost useless now and I don't even mind making ghosts faster in terms of speed and build order. I want to see more Ghost play just not late game spams.
Yep, the key word is boring. 15+ ghosts is just GG unless you can hammer the economy absolutely flat, but Terran has mules to patch over that particular problem.
Not at all, first time, I have seen Dark's Broodlord/Investor getting beaten so one-sided, the other Terrans such as GuMiHO and the like, always fail to beat it.
@@TheMiwa1989 true but it's still straight boring watching a single unit be that powerful. Remember Hero's disruptors before it got nurfed? I love Hero and that was cool the first time he did it but then was boring because you could see there was no counter and the whole point of a game is being able to counter a problem. Ghosts are as powerful in that number as lets say BCs but costs much less. I'll also say the same for Zerg spell casters. I think the problem is for Terran they can't survive late game without nulifying other spellcasters like fungal/storm etc which I believe was a stupid solution. Why not give the ghost an area of effect spell instead or just not allowing others to perform their spells. It just makes the game boring same for the raven's matrix.

Achstuallyyy, Winter, Maru and Dark are not top 2 in Korea according to Aligulac. Cure is #2 in Korea and #3 globally. The people's revolution is almost at hand!
This series is ridiculous. can't remember a lot of games that were as impressive as most of these. Also winter, why don't more zerg us microbal shroud from infestors? is it just a value vs fungal/parasite? would think it would be worthwhile to use when you're getting pushed hard by terrans to hold the ground.

I'm a huge Dark fan, but everytime when I see him against Maru in a super late game, Maru always prevails and his ghosts are doing those little things that change everything. This makes me bit of tired, I even stopped watching SC2 for the last few months. Indeed the games were incredible but I see always the same scenario - Dark takes control over the map, Maru is tactical and deffensive, barelly geting out of his 3 bases, meanwhile Dark sucks all the resourses on the map, pushes Maru back to his base and in the end Maru takes the only last free remained expand with minerals. The only time when it really mattered for Dark was in 2019 on Blizzcon when he become later a world champion. But in the rest of their matches this gets me a bit tired. Still GG.
