I do, however, know that in Japanese, the word "Maru" means "circle", and is a common suffix for names. Which I think is perfect, for 2 reasons: 1. Maru, much like the circle, is a "well rounded" player; he has great micro, great macro, he can play bio, he can play mech, he can be aggressive with the best, and he can turtle all day long. 2. "maru" often appears at the end of names, where as Maru often appears at the end of major and premier tournaments. So, for those of you at home, just remember; in Japan, "Maru" ends names; but in Korea, "Maru" ends games.
Winter, you are more reliable than my post-coffee morning dump. You're keeping all of us noobs who are tired of stressing on the ladder emotionally tied to the greatest RTS ever made... never stop.
Y'all Maru is so goddamn good at this game I gotta at least suggest he might be a borg infiltrator. He was fighting like three engagements at one point, microing marines and tanks and medivacs and defending his bases. Dark, to his credit, lives up to his reputation as the final boss, but if anybody was going to play protagonist and bring him down it was Maru.
Fun games, but I wouldnt say game of the year, or 'best finals' personally. Part of it is just Maru in general being such a stock standard known quantity. He wins when he is allowed to play his game his way... and he did. Dark failed to throw him off, and got squished. Kind of the reverse for Dark, he's so fun to watch because he does wacky stuff, and here we see more standard builds that just dont quite come together.
Anyone else notice that StarCraft 2 is the goat method of falling asleep? It works every single time. Not saying it’s boring in anyway but it’s amazing how fast it helps me sleep at night. I can’t be the only one.
Spoiler: Game 6 I think this is the first game you've cast where Thors actually worked against Dark. Not for lack of effort though, Maru just didn't panic and cleaned up the infestors.

This series is ridiculous. can't remember a lot of games that were as impressive as most of these. Also winter, why don't more zerg us microbal shroud from infestors? is it just a value vs fungal/parasite? would think it would be worthwhile to use when you're getting pushed hard by terrans to hold the ground.
Oh the irony that Maru invents a build, uses it in MULTIPLE tournaments in 2022 (most notable - Dreamhack Atlanta), ByuN copies the build 3 times in a row in Katowice 2023, Artosis sees it for the first time and thus just casually starts referring to it 'the ByuN build', and so the entire world starts erroneously referring to it as such. So much so that when Maru today does *HIS OWN BUILD that He invented* , some casters absurdly say: "oh look, Maru's doing the 'byun' build" 😂 • in reality the build is no more Byun's than curries are British. It's Maru's opener, it's Maru's build.
** Spoiler Alert ** Honestly we should’ve had Serral in the finals up against Maru. No offense to Dark, but the series as a whole was way less nailbiting than Maru VS Cure
Serral doesn’t play GSL. He only plays big tournaments. Plus we need some other races win so Zerg players can complain about how Zerg doesn’t win more tournaments with balance while none of them play anywhere nearly as good. Uthermal beat up GM players using 1 single type of unit and he switched it up is funny. Showing how different the game of these professionals work compare to the regular folks that complained here.

Just an observation, but once t gets 4 plus medivacts z cant defend, why not add some sort of anti air faster to stop the medidrops? Ive seen other z players use anti air effectively against the t drops

That would ruin the importance of the map, and also be a huge buff to terran, by ruining the rng for zerg and protoss platers
