This just reminds me of how everyone thinks they can teach these days simply because there is a platform to show them teaching. But vast majority don't have the measured, systematic approach that it takes to deliver information clearly. You are an excellent teacher. Thank you for these tutorials!
Finally, someone who knows how to Teach! Excellent! I did get a bit lost on the shape builder tool though. This is better than paid content. Thank You, Thank You! (On with the rest of the video's.)
I went from knowing nothing about Illustrator to helping people who were seasoned Illustrator users! Thank you sooo much. Agree with the comments that this is better than paid courses.
Mr. David... I want to thank you very much for these videos that you are sharing for free with people from all around the world... without you knowing them or even seeing them before... you have a big heart... one day I will have to do something for you in return God willing... donation or whatever I am able to do so... forgive me that I can't donate at this time... I pray for your happiness and health in your life. thanks alot
Brilliant course! I've donated some money via your site because the work put in to these tutorials deserve credit! Please keep on making quality tutorials!! And viewers please donate via his website coz this guy is awesome and so he can create more content!
I am very thankful for these tutorials..straight forward and informative. I find myself remembering shortcuts and retaining a lot of the skills to apply to my own projects. Thank you, Ginger
I am about to make a career change and your tutorials really helped me a lot! You have been doing an awesome job! I will try to watch all your videos and like them just to show my support!:)
Thank you so much for all the work you have done with these tutorials! They are very informative, but not longer than they need to be. I am an instructor in a different area and I know how rare it is to find videos of this quality. Thanks again!
He starts moving pretty quickly in this video, so pause the video using Spacebar, and use the left arrow key to go back 5 seconds in the video. Frequently found myself pressing spacebar followed by tapping the left arrow key 2-5 times.
do this instead, pause the video using space whenever you need to then use alt+tab to switch to illustrator instantly and practice yourself. then press alt+tab again to switch back to youtube. way more faster
You are a legend my friend! You define professionalism and attention to details! You should personally show up on a video and give a small talk or something! Would be great to face the genius who is behind all this!
This is great, now I'm beginning to see Illustrator magic! You teach very thoroughly and your accent made me smile on occasions haha xD I know my way around Photoshop (but zero in Illustrator) so of course I was very impressed by this... looking forward to making art using this program and knowledge! :D Thank you so much, I am very willing to donate in the future as my thanks!
Hi. Great videos! At around ~13:10, after you paste the "vector shape with overlapping shape vectors" onto the "cut out overlapping vector shapes (gradient fill)" section, then click on the exclude button in the pathfinder panel, the whole vector shape, save the cutouts, turns black? Why does it do this?
Switch to the selection tool, deselect the object by clicking on the blank part of the canvas, then hover and click on the portion of the circle and drag it away.
For the Gradient Stroke in CS 5: In the top menu, go to Object - Expand and uncheck the Fill and make sure only the Stroke is checked. When you do this illustrator treats your stroke as fill and now you can apply a gradient stroke.
for some reason I can't use the gradient orange color on my stroke. I keep clicking the reverse color arrows on the swatch, but it just stays the same. is this just a glitch?
Laura Cooper This happened to me also. It seems that the gradient stroke effect was introduced from CS6 forward. Looking on the Internet you can find some workarounds for this effect in CS5 for example. Cheers!
I'm using Illustrator CS5 and for whatever reason I can't "push up the stroke" (as done in 14:16). I wonder why. I'll click on it and nothing happens. Any suggestions? By the way, I'm loving these tutorials, thank you so much! :)
The free transform tool widget (extra panel) doesn’t seem to be available on Illustrator CS 5, which other options is available to distort the figure?, I tried to use the perspective tool on the object menu, but doesn’t activate, the letters are in gray instead of active black.
select all the shape , after that click the builder tool and click at the shape that u want... click at selection tool and then click at the canvas... move the arrow at the stroke shape until u see the small square with the black colour.. click it and move it to canvas..

I usually watch the whole video once and i practice afterwards while repeating the video and just listening to it :)Hope that helps!
thanks!
Use "k" not space bar, space bar often makes you scroll through the page. Same thing for "j" and "l" to move 10 seconds through the video.
I've been bingeing this with 1.75x speed LOL

at 13:49 is there a way to drag and select the anchor points or do you always have to find and click each anchor point?
Great. Thank you.

When I use shape builder tool, I cannot find a way to cut the shape into parts with just a click as shown in the video. Do I miss anything?
you just need to choose the selection tool and move it out like so.
Rabin Raie Hi, I had to double click and then moved it and separated the shape. Thank you. It's a bit tricky thought..
hold'alt' and click (windows) or option key on (mac) and then click it will work
select all the shape , after that click the builder tool and click at the shape that u want...
click at selection tool and then click at the canvas... move the arrow at the stroke shape until u see the small square with the black colour.. click it and move it to canvas..
Thank you so much!
Thank you so so so so much.
