Comfy video. Started with 1.0. LW was one of my go-to 3D applications for long time. It was ideal for TV and broadcast production - or everything with fast turnarounds. Worked at different studios using LW as their main tool, including Amblin and Foundation Imaging. We often had access to beta versions and the devs took suggestions - even feature requests from staff. 🙂
Used to make lots of renders and anims when starting out with Sculpt 3D. Then I moved on to Imagine. Lightwave as awesome. I just started to learn how to mess with it, but stopped all 3D work and started messing more with programming. Would love to start back up again. I've made so many sketches over the years with the intent to model them one day.
I really like tinkering in the old Amiga version. Now that know what I know...now. Heh. Such an amazing program for its time. I have an entire playlist of Amiga LW videos. Most are from early on my channel's start and the quality is definitely..."most under produced, poorly produced." :)
I remember doing stuff like this on Imagine software back in the day. Now I have a monster PC in comparison running linux 5.0 GHZ AMD ryzen 5800x 8 cores 16 threads, 32 gig of ram, an AMD 6600XT 8 gigs of video ram, and I hardly do anything despite the fact that My current setup could real time raytrace anything I did on the Amiga 1200@40Mhz 68040 16 megs of ram.. My current system has more graphics memory than I had hard disk space. Goes to show its not the hardware, I think the Amiga environment just gives you a creative feel.
used it in 1992 on scene\video work, realtime broadcast and i remember multytasking broadcasting video wile and rendering on lightwave, Amiga was not a tool, was a instrument
Yeah, I always knew it. The PC world should be ashamed at how little they've progressed. It's always been this way. Now me getting time to actually do this stuff, hasn't really happened in 25 years.
Depends on system. I did low res, enhanced low AA and it took 9 seconds a frame on a 68060 configured at max speed using WinUAE. In previous videos I’ve rendered that same ship on my real 68060 A1200. But for animations I don’t like to use real hardware. It’s too much stress and risk letting these old ones render all night.
@@HoldandModify it's not the Amiga I worry about, it's the hard drives. But I don't use emulation. I do wish Screamernet would work without the Amiga rendering.
@@HoldandModify that's what we all think but honestly hard drives have proven more reliable than SD cards. Backups are more important than ever. BTW, you should see how many hard drives my Toaster setup uses. There a boot drive, a RAID drive, and three Flyer drives. th-cam.com/video/th94mXP58TY/w-d-xo.html
I did a video earlier using the TF1260 on the 1200. Showing render times. It was a bit if i recall. Under 15min I think. However when rendering animations I always suggest using WinUAE or a PiMiga to save your precious hardware from west and tear.
I came here for Amiga nostalgia, and I left with tips on how to improve my animations in Blender. That's great!
That's great! I try to let folks know what I shot can be used in almost any 3D animation app. The basics.
Super cool, I'm very glad you also included the final rendering of the most beautiful starship in the Star Trek universe. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
@@HoldandModify Liked it, I LOVED it!
You took me 30 year back, when I was rendering crystal ball animations on my A4000. It took a while to render but was magical!
Great times then and still fun today!
My first render in lightwave was in 1995.. It was a ray traced cristal ball with a 020/14mhz.. now the render is almost complete :P
LOL yap, just the first pass 😀@@Ryorr
Every Lightwave render video is a win, thank you very much! Amazing
Thanks for enjoying! I always hope these videos find some love. :)
Damn, that's freakin awesome! And that runs on an Amiga? Wow!!! Thanks man, I have got to try out that for my self.👍👍👍
Yup! These machines blow my mind back then and even today! :)

You should hit me up via my YT About tab. There’s an email. I started at Foundation end of 1996. ;)
Great video! You could speed all this up by just rerouting power from your Amiga's deflector dish. :)
Lol! Thank you.
Solid tips for any 3D software, nice. LW5 is awsome though.
Thank you! Yes hopefully concepts shown make sense for any package.
As said before, love these LW vids, fundamentals don’t really change
Yup! It's neat seeing how much you really can do with this old software. Amazes me!
Very cool, hopefully once I get another A2000 and Lightwave I can do similar rendering.
Yes you can! It’s fun and good luck and happy pixel making!

The system makes you want to DO THINGS. I love it.
You should do an episode on Dick Van Dyke's love of the Amiga and how he used one to do all the SFX in Diagnosis: Murder ALL BY HIMSELF!!!
He did! That’s a deep cut sir!
@@HoldandModify Thank you? lol To be honest, I don't know what I'm replying to lol Deep cut?

Agree! Like that! “Instrument.”
Lightwave 3D 5.0 was released 1995. So it's 28 years.
Lightwave 3D 1.0 is 33 years old.
Videoscape 3D is 35 years old.
Please don’t remind me of these facts. :)
I also go back to lightwave 3d on my amiga 4000 can anyone tell where I can get lightwave 3d for amiga.
Go to my about page on my channel and use the email. ;)
Yes I do 🤘🏻😊 awesomely done👍🏻
Thank you! Such a fun machine!

Hah! Still working on finding an Orville model.
how long to render? man those don’t look bad at all !!

Yes I did know. :)
Knowing is half the battle! :)
Blender calls a null an "empty"', and it also uses "parent" to parent objects.
An empty? Lol! Okay, well, sure!
