    A quick tip for anyone who's watching recently and applying for citizenship. You can actually apply after 2 years of having PR, you don't have to wait the full 3 years. Because... they will grant you days when you were on a temporary visa before you had gotten your PR. Meaning, they will count every day you spent as a non PR towards your application in the last 5 years as 0.5 days up to a total of 365 days. Where as days spent in Canada as a PR count as 1 full day.
    Thought this might be useful for anyone who didn't pick up on this.

    @lyckost2754 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Time spent in Canada before PR can also count towards citizenship time, but in half. I spent 1 year on Work Permit (which converts to 0.5 year) and 2.5 years after the PR. The processing time shown is only 80% time, and usually overestimates the actual time. Good luck!

    I'm waiting for my citizenship application to complete too! here is my timeline
    August 15, 2021: Application submitted online
    October 25, 2021: Received acknowledgement of receipt (AOR)
    May 27, 2022: Background verification status completed
    May 31, 2022: Took the citizenship test online and passed! but its waiting for review to make sure i didn't cheat
    Jun 21, 2022: Language skills, Prohibition and Physical presence status completed
    Citizenship ceremony status hasn't started yet and still waiting to get a date. I'm guessing the'll give me a date once they review my citizenship test result.
    Good luck to anyone going through the process i'm sure it will be worth it in the end! 🇨🇦

    Best of luck you guys with the whole process!
    Well i do remember that i applied by sending everything through regular mail. Of course I was well prepared for that but it seems i skipped to check just ONE box at the left bottom part of one of those pages. As a result TWO months later on i received my whole file with all the documents, etc i have had sent them!
    They sent me everything back and there was only a note as a cover letter which mentioned that my application was incomplete. It was a formality since the unchecked box was about my consent to authorities to access my tax accounts or something like that..
    Of course by that time (covid-19 restrictions) public services where understaffed or underactivated but i can't help to make the observation that the way i was treated was unthinkable for a western modern society. Needles to say that i ve had myself at their disposal through email and cell phone in case there were any issues with my application or that mistake cost me more time and expenses to figure everything out..
    I understand that now things seem to be more straightforward but If anybody is about to get prepared for the the next step should be very careful with the Canadian bureaucracy!
    Ps: canadian bureaucracy is always a topic in a high demand
    Ps2: my apologies for using capital letters

    Congrats, great video! Ref Taxes, just wondering if IRCC figures out that when you become a PR your SIN number is a new one. It means, temporary residents have a SIN Number and, when they turn PR a new SIN Number is issued. In the application there's space for only one SIN Number. Should we include a Letter of Explanation about it (including the old SIN number) or leave it? Many thanks!

    I hope you become a Canadian citizen soon enough :)
    When my family and I prepared to apply for citizenship back in 2020, the website said 12 month process. But due to Covid causing backlogs things took much longer. Sadly for some it’s been even longer than the 27 months listed
    What I don’t like is how inconsistent IRCC is and how they don’t give proper updates / feedback. For example my family and I all applied at same time, but i had my oath like 9 months before they did. We tried contacting but not much feedback was told
    Another issue was I didn’t get my citizenship certificate until 5 months later, which is definitely not normal. Most people get theirs in 1-2 weeks. They made an error cause I relocated during the application process, and I updated my location but they sent it to the wrong address. It was a mess, and I was nervous if my citizenship wasn’t genuine despite doing the oath
    Luckily all of us are now citizens, and should get our first Canadian passports soon. But seriously there needs to be massive improvements to reduce the time waiting for citizenship applications, and better communication with the applicants. I hope things will be faster and easier for you

    hi there, how's citizenship exam experience? Is it 15 out of 20 to pass? Is the answer to the questions is fixed or random, which to study? Geography? Art? or Culture?
    How long it takes from applying till getting? is someone still have restrictions after getting citizenship? Does it worth it?

    • @619WWEFAN
      @619WWEFAN ปีที่แล้ว

      When I did it, 15/20 was required. There is an official book we have to read that the test is based on.
      Despite some info in the book is outdated, that’s still the info we need to study
      Unfortunately there’s no exact answer for when you will be told to do the exam, because it varies by individual and due to the backlog it’s even more unpredictable. Like for me I did my exam 1 year after applying but my brother 18 months. And I know some did their test less than a year and some over 2-3 years. Sorry it’s not the best answer, but it’s the reality for some of us

      @619WWEFAN ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sapphiregarden5 tbh the questions were a mix, some I found very easy some I found confusing and needed extra time to focus on.
      It all depends on what type of questions you get though.
      As for what happens after?
      Cause mine was during Covid the interview part never happened. All I had to do was wait to get invitation for oath. But now that Covid isn’t as bad and lots of rules are going back to pre Covid? I’m unsure if things will be different soon
      Lastly about the passport? This really depends on which country you are from. Some accept dual citizenship no problem, some however don’t allow it and could strip you of your citizenship.
      I’d say do lots of research to make sure about your country

    If I apply right after 3 years of stay in canada as pr, would I still need pcc from home country? Never went out for 183 days after coming to canada. But I see on website, its a requirement if you apply within 4 years
